I recently decided to give grammarly a second chance because I felt bad that I put out such a bad review before. So I saved up and bought the premium version. Not only was it expensive, but the advertised features weren't up to par. They don't fix most the problems, they just show you the problem. Sorry, but I'm being really honest.
I got the free version, tested it by putting in a sentence with obvious grammatical mistakes, and got no corrections that couldn't be accessed without premium. As in I couldn't even see their corrections unless I paid. So there's no demo version.
Then I got premium for the shortest period possible, and was appalled to see that the revealed corrections were still grammatically incorrect. For example, it tried to add an s to a verb for a plural subject. The spellcheck programs in Microsoft Word and Google Docs are infinitely better, and those are free. Grammarly was a complete waste of money, and also wouldn't uninstall for a while until I figured it out. Please don't get Grammarly, you will regret it.
They take your money and use it to promote bullcrap political narratives on Quora, another crap site, and then they leave you with a crap product.
This product consistently makes incorrect suggestions. For example, it insists that I change a verb form by adding an "s," completely ignoring that the subject of the sentences was plural, which means no "s" on the verb. Grammarly also puts a comma where it does not belong and ignores places where it is needed. There are so many more frustrating examples! I was an editor for newspapers, magazines, and companies for many years, and I now teach writing courses at a public college. I am also a part-time Academic Learning and Writing Coach at the college, so I know incorrect grammar and punctuation when I see it. This is a totally useless product, and I tell my students to not use it. Luckily, I only tried the free version but promptly deleted it from my computer.
DO NOT sign up for a premium membership with this website. Waste of my time and energy! I had to sit through a two-hour phone call with my bank because this stupid website charged me 139.99 when they said it was a gradual 11.99 a month. THEY ARE TRYING TO RIP YOU OFF! They do not answer their emails nor have an actual human talk to when you call your phone number. I am more than enraged, I can't believe I have fallen for this! Learn from my mistakes, please for me. Thanks, this thing fu***** sucks!
When I have to write an article ASAP, I usually check it through free Grammarly version. Sometimes, it helps with prepositions and missed punctuation or automatically misspelled vocabulary, but it annoys me how it tries to "guess the right words" and it simplifies and distorts what I want to say because I like using slightly unusual vocabulary, especially when writing something creative (but I rarely use archaic words or anachronisms, so it should have known the linguistic meanings I employ). I think Grammarly should be able to discern more idioms and phrasal verbs, and any literary devices. What is funny, it doesn't identify its own name, underlining it in red when I write about it, lol. I must also confess, having read all the negative comments about the Premium version, I'll keep on using only the free one. Sorry, Grammarly, you can be helpful, but you're not so cool as your advertisers say.
They taken $139 two times without any notice for renewal. I had log out and deleted card number before also, but they taken money without any Emile. We have to find a way to destroy like one of the wise scam and the fishy company.
Don't waste your money. Their charge description is deceiving. It says $11.66 per month and in paratheses - cahrge $139.99 for the year. WTF? Why the long description. Say $139.99 the end. Of course they are counting on people moving fast and seeing $11.66 a month and signing up. This is shady as hell. On top of that, the software kept on eating my words. Each time, it would autonamatically take words. I had to double check the software after it was done, everytime!
Don't pay for the premium features since it's almost the same as the free account.
I paid for a 3 months subscription and after one day I asked for a refund since the premium wasn't more helpful than the basic account. Here is what they said to me:
"I have reviewed your subscription history and, unfortunately, I am unable to refund your payment. For your reference, here's an excerpt from our Terms of Service and License Agreement:
Except as may be expressly set forth herein, all Fees paid or accrued in connection with any Services are non-refundable, and Grammarly will not prorate any Fees paid for a subscription that is terminated before the end of its term."
So they don't offer any guarantee for their product, which says a lot about their company, and their product too.
Use a free account if you really need their over evaluated service. It really doesn't worth $30 a month, not even $5.
Grammarly is far too expensive for what it offers. Subscription based software models are universally frowned upon as being greedy and dishonest. But Grammarly takes this unethical business practice to a whole new level by imposing outrageous financial demands on the consumer.
It's worth noting that both the Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe Creative Suite premium subscriptions, though still highly unsavory, offer several hundred times the value while remaining less of a financial burden than Grammarly.
In regards to Grammarly's ability to perform it's intended functions effectively, you might be surprised to learn that writing which Grammarly critiques without objection can consistently earn you a C from an English teacher.
At most, Grammarly is a simple toy that should not be taken seriously. It is not, as the price-tag implies, a robust industrial suite of professional tools used at a corporate level.
Save your money. It doesn't worth the money at all and it automatically makes your payment recurring every month without any clear notice in advance.
I've been using Grammarly for a while and this is the automatic billing is such a scam that it doesn't even give you a warning that it will renew soon, never been so upset at a product.
I feel that I've just been robbed.
"COME JOIN ME on some memorable journeys to faraway places. Some posts are complete stories, others no more than descriptive paragraphs. Here, in words, pictures and videos are some classic travel adventures.
You may have just retired and have more time to spare. You may have just left school, worked a bit and have some cash burning a hole in your pocket. You may just be dreaming of jetting away to someplace special. Your travel guide has lived all over - in Sydney, Australia; in Frankfurt, Germany; in Madrid, Spain; in London, England and in Toronto, Canada. And over the years, I've packed my bag and explored the world - from Tanzania to Turkey to Tahiti. I've worked in the travel industry, too - with airlines like TWA and British Airways and, more recently, as a travel writer for international media. I've always journeyed with a sense of wonder, ready to explore and open to new and unexpected experiences. It's been fun. And fulfilling.
It's time now to share some of those travel memories with you and pass on information you'll need to make your journey pleasant and trouble-free. You'll find destinations and links here, from personal files and from many other sources. "
OK. This (above) is what I wrote. Grammarly questioned my first word, COME and suggested "jetting" should be "getting".
So... sorry. Don't need you Grammarly.
Except as described in the Terms of Service and License Agreement, Grammarly Premium subscriptions are non-refundable, and Grammarly will not prorate any Fees paid for a subscription that is terminated before the end of its term.
It is far worse than free grammarly It changes words which are correct to incorrect words and mess up your writing, particularly tenses and hyphens.
Doesn't work properly!
Watch out - you cannot cancel the membership. If you do dispute it with your credit card they will cancel the membership but you will still be charged.
Automatic renewal of the product without prior notice. Grammarly should fix this, at least send an email informing the person if they still want to continue with the subscription. It is clear that this is double-dealing and a scam.
Program sucks! Everyone ~ or almost everyone ~ knows that it is a preference to put a comma before the word 'and' when listing things. This stupid program always tells me I need a comma! Not even worth installing.
The Grammarly free browser extension is very useful for the English learner. I mean, I know English language quite well, but I still want to perfect my grammar further. Like learning how to write words the right way, the double letters, commas, and so on. So far Grammarly helped me a lot with all that but sometimes it wants to teach me wrong. I really hate it when tries to instill self-doubt in me, making me question the things that I've learned and already know. At times It gives bad, wrong, straight up erroneous suggestions about how to construct sentences and word combinations. That may help in some instances but is totally not helpful in others. In the long run, Grammarly will teach you how to write words correctly but will confuse the hell out of you about how to construct your sentences and sometimes will even try to deceive you into thinking you made an error, when in fact "he" made one. Grammarly must be some kind of hypocrite, and an evil one at that. But I want to go into details here; It really pisses me off when I'm writing something that I know that is right and Grammarly tells me that is wrong. As I said, sometimes it seems like it wants to instill self-doubt in me...
Besides the fact that I'm already using Grammarly, apparently, I still need to get upset by it, first, the program telling me there is a problem that I'm already skeptical about, or even know there is no problem at all, then, by googling it, I find out there is actually no problem at all. It's just Grammarly that wants to annoy me. To make me waste time and nerves. In the long run yes is very useful, but also so very harmful to your knowledge and nerves. But I still love it more than I hate it and I will continue using it, I'm sure it only needs some fine tuning.
Still have to go on prove reading after using the product because the checking seems for spelling and light grammar and sadly one is put on automatic annual renewal without informing the person.
Answer: I agree with everyone else. I have been using grammarly for almost 2 years and I never had a problem with viruses or anything. It is a good product and well worth the investment.
Answer: Only for premium but everything else is free It's great!

Answer: Make sure you have set it to your language, as the default is American English, and you may need to change it. If you don't need to, remember that you could have failed for other reasons (not enough information, too much information, using Grammarly as a tool that will get everything right etc.).
Answer: There is a limit, but I find that only a minor inconvenience. If the document goes over the size limit, just cut and paste the document by halves or thirds and run Grammarly checks on each part.
Answer: linguisoft.com - Gtrammarian PRO is a good one.
Answer: Hi, Aleksandra! We can't expect Grammarly to work effectively with song lyrics because grammar rules are often ignored altogether to add aesthetic elements to them. If you have any other questions, please contact us directly at http://gram.ly/3zJAHbw.
Answer: Hi, John! This shouldn't be happening, but if you are experiencing this issue, we suggest contacting our technical support team via: gram.ly/3zJAHbw. They can help you troubleshoot this issue. We hope this helps!
