Grammarly is effective in proofreading. I rely on it heavily when checking misspelled words and grammatical errors. When in a rush of writing papers or professional emails, Grammarly is there to skim and scan the work. It helps me a lot to be precise and cohesive on what I want to say and write. It is definitely a recommended application for scholars.
The service is useful specially the academic writing part, the reason I'm giving 4 stars is that they automatically renew without giving reminding emails. I think they can improve on that

I tried to cancel the subscription before the trial ends but i couldn't find the cancellation link anywhere. Then my card got charged $139.95. I didn't know what to do so i contacted my tech savvy friend and he came across this post from grammarly (picture attached). Somehow he managed to cancel the subscription the same day the charge was posted. I initiated a dispute with the credit card company but grammarly wouldn't refund my money. What an easy trick to steal hard earned money. Specially since this is a service mostly used by students, who easily become prey. If this is not fraud i don't know what is.
