Stampboards is an efficiently run free resource without ads. The guy that runs it and owns it, Glen Stephens, contributes significant time, energy and money to ensure it stays that way. It is run with a very firm hand to ensure that is stays efficient and useful.

There is a great amount of good information available for collectors of all levels.

However, if you do not subscribe to the mantra that Glen knows all, you are not made welcome (Richard Debney and Rod Perry are tolerated by Glen, even though they challenge him). Anyone else trying it on are shown the door or shouted down and humiliated in public.

What his site does not do, is be welcoming and accommodating to new and budding collectors, or those who have inquiries that come from a low base of knowledge.

I understand that it is the firm hand that keeps the site free of material that clogs up many sites, but when people sign up and treat it like many other forums where such rules are not exercised, they are publicly shamed and made to feel foolish.

In a dying hobby, senior members of the philatelic community have a responsibility to welcome and nurture new collectors but Glen Stephens and stampboards does nothing of the sort. A great opportunity to expand the collecting community is lost because Glen Stephens cannot see the forest for his giant ego and all his little minions go along for the ride so thay can continue to play on his playground.

I have seldom met anyone in such denial of their failings. I know as we get older, becoming more right-wing is normal (Glen is 65 now from his own account) but Glen Stephens makes Ted Nugent look like a communist. He is unpleasant, abusive and intolerant of anyone who he believes does not meet his (constantly varying) standards.

Try www.stampcommunity.org of www.stamporama.com for a much friendlier, if less 'philatelic' approach to online forums.

I was on this stamp board
I've never been talked down to by anyone as he does to new members, post a question and he'll "rip" you apart to make himself look good,

Dont post an image and he'll go mental.

Post yours stamps and he'll say they're fake, rubbish ( belong in the trash) you get the idea.

Not many new members stay on the site, some of the members there are good but they all seem to have brown on their nose that belongs to glen.

Glen seems to spend most of his time on that board sneering at other members lack of knowledge, bragging, mention you've got a rare revenue stamp this guy will have several mint sheets of said stamp.

Never mention ebay! I've heard he got kicked off ebay for selling fakes many moons ago, i've heard this from several different people,

If he hears the word ebay he goes into a rant, go and try it, its very funny this guy is easily round up,

But anyone wanting to sell or buy please stay away.

Horrible personality on the site he lords over.

Can be rude, abrasive, extremely unpleasant. If this is how Stephens treats board members, imagine how he deals with customers. When you post on his board, he looks for any opportunity to spam your thread with his own stamps for sale... usually over-priced, yet if you mention a better deal on ebay, it's like you cussed his mother, he will delete your post.

Was a member of his StampBoards forum. There Glen shines with his arrogance in an attempt to show new members how incompetent they are compared to him - very condescending. Since he couldn't have his way with me, he started smearing my name on his forum by using my real name and plastering it over the page together with his own fabrications; a common practice with him that he employed many times with forum members. When I responded with facts, he deleted my posts. At one point he started changing my own posts and contact information so other forum members could not contact me. Not sure how he finds the time for such games while supposedly still running a business.

In any rate he is a total nut case.

DISHONEST CHEAT
February 27, 2018

Follow up on my last review: I have finally sold the stamps (that Glen offered $120 for). Sold them in different lots for just over $2,500. He tried to rob me... telling me the stamps were worthless! BEWARE!

Lot 36. The postmark is a Jeffreys forgery. See Freeman page 12.

Postmark (if genuine) is rated R, not RRRR. See Freeman page 67.

Hope it wasn't sold to a bunny.

Such Rudeness!
November 17, 2017

Omgosh I just rang up Glen and have never felt so disheartened by such rudeness! Really wish I read the reviews on google before calling. Every other stamp dealers I've dealt with have been nothing but polite but this person gives dealers a bad name especially for people who aren't in the philately circle. I wonder how many ordinary non-philately people like me he has turned away especially when his site comes up prominently on google.

I ask if he had any international stamps and he was like "Yes, in lots of $500 and $1000" I asked how much he wanted for them and he was like "Did you check the website, I don't like having half hour conversations with people when they don't check the website" I told him I did check his website and didn't see any bulk lots for international stamps on the site and then he told me "I can't help you". WTF? Dude I wasn't interested in having a half hour conversation, I just wanted to buy stamps off you for goodness sake but not anymore!

Glen Stephens has an encyclopaedic knowledge of stamps. He leaves the Experts at SG looking amateurish and boy can they charge. I have never found him other than pleasant and certainly never rude. Get real, we all overate our stamps at times

Rude and condescending
September 8, 2017

Agree with other reviews on here. As a newbie I posted a polite enquiry about an item. His first reply was condescending about ebay not being the real world, and that they use Stamp Catalogues. However, when I added photos, then the next comment was worse - downright rude and brash. He could have provided the same response in a polite respectful manner and when I called him on, stating that I didn't think I would be belittled, and that as a novice I was simply seeking advice. Well then he stated that my 'rude rant' - which it 100% was not - had been deleted and that I had basically wasted his time... and to go back to EBay. I am floored that a supposed professional Business would allow this type of disrespectful action.

Rude
August 21, 2017

Is active on ebay using accounts stamps2013 and yolipav. After mailing is known to demand compensation if postage stamps are not used under threat of leaving negative feedback, and does so despite everything else being fine. If you sell on ebay best to block for peace of mind. I agree with the bully comments. He bags ebay and yet buys from there and puts the items on his rarity page! States re them 'bought well' or 'from an old collection'. Balderdash - from ebay!

Very Arrogant
April 25, 2017

This dealer has put me off stamp collecting. He uses his forum to cherry pick rare stamps from members and accuses people of wasting his time if the example is common. He doesn't view it as a hobby only a business for him to make money, hence his objection to "time wasting"

This is Glen at work
February 14, 2017

Here we can see Glen Stephens hyping up an Australian new issue.
http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=*******
This 2016 $1 souvenir sheet is not rare. It was printed in large numbers.
First it was priced at $2 because it had the "wrong" date. (The date on the stamp, 2004, is the copyright date, so NOT a "wrong" date!)
Then the price was increased to $2.50 because he discovered the stamp has a different perforation than the original 2004 issue.
Now the price is increased to $3 because some dealer was interested in buying his stock.
Look at his bunnies buying this sheet...
Glen bought them for $1 each from Australia Post of course.

I was a member of Stampboards forum, and not being that well versed in downloading photos etc, or computer savvy, the comments I received from the "Sherrif" (an administrator") was rude, arrogant, condacending, and basically the views of an egotist. And to top it off, some clown from Canada agrees, saying "unprofessional, loser, needs to get it together". Thanks, I will buy off EBay or Gumtree and bypass the self indulgent crew at Glen Stephens, who owns Stampboards.

I have been a member of Stampboards.com for many years and find it absolutely great. The information that is available from collectors worldwide is amazing. People are happy to share their experiences and knowledge with others quite freely I have both purchased and sold to Glen Stephens and have found his prices fair. You must remember he is a dealer and will not give you catalogue price for your stamps as he has to resell them himself. And, believe me -he does know his trade - backwards! He is a specialist.
Yes he will come down hard if you stuff up, or, if you are arrogant he will be respond in kind.
In particular he has no time for people who send him grandpa's old album and tell him it is worth thousands when it is full old stamps worth 10 cents each and then call him a thief and a crook when he tells them something they do not wish to accept.

Further the board is not just for him alone to sell his stuff (which he does). It is open to anyone with an interest in stamp collecting, young or old, amateur and professional.
If you wish to learn this is the place to go. Or even just to have fun. (check out joke of the day or funny photos. Plus it is a worldwide forum, not just American, or English, or European. This you can see from the wide variety of responses globally.

But you MUST be willing to accept other peoples views, even if they do differ from yours. Other wise why ask the question in the first place?

By the way, I am a very small Australian amateur collector not affiliated with Stampboards.com. I am a member of this site and have received a lot of help and learnt heaps from fellow members.

A Crook!
November 21, 2015

I got ripped off and I'm peed off!

1) - Firstly, sent a lot of stamp packs for which i was "graciously" paid about $35. Quite sure that I was paid well under what they should have attraced.

2) - Saw an Aust Post book that he advertised as 'rare and special' and I paid GOOD money for it. When it arrived I was totally disappointed with the product - not his fault I have to say. Just had the product appraised as I wanted to offload it and was to have been offered about $20 for it! Sooo angry!

3) - Sent a variety of stamps and stamp related paraphenalia and got an email back which effectively said "WTF are you sending me!" ALL of that stuff he has retained, or should I more correctly say stolen? I've emailed him offing to pay for their return but I've heard nothing and I now never expect to hear from him about this.

Stay away from this guy if you're serious about stamps. He thinks he's a big fish in a little pond but that is far from the truth!

Criminal
October 8, 2015

WARNING BEWARE, My Mom sent her Austrian family stamp collection to Glen Stephens for valuation, in the collection there were many valuable Austrian mercury stamps, Glen stole the entire collection, she paid him nearly 200 dollars to ship the stamps back. She went to supreme court in Canada to try and get a judgement against him but could not get a ruling as Glen deliberately avoided service and was in Australia. My mom was so grief stricken at age 71 to have her family heritage stolen from her she suffered a stroke and has been on life support for nearly 1 year. If she does recover she will be permanently paralysed. Glen Stevens is solely responsible for her stroke. And I have medical documentation to prove this. He needs to be stopped before he harms any others.

Glen has no people skills at all, constantly bashes newbies on the site. If you say something he does not like, he will ban you from the site. He rules it with an iron fist instead of approaching it as a forum.

Sells stuff that is over rated and poor quality. If it reeks, says Australia is a humid climate and to expect it. Does not disclose when he tries to sell.

Seems to hate Ebay and North America in general as they don't agree with his views. When you show him something in black and white he basically calls you a liar.

I would stay as far away from Stampboards and Glen as they will do nothing for the stamp hobby unless you fit into his mold.

This site is full of people who will steal your money with the pretense of selling you rare or popular stamps. They will take "bunnies" into their hobby and provide them with low quality merchandise, deemed by friends of Glen Stephens to be rare or high quality, and sell them to you for high prices. They will eventually cause you grief unless you either support their activities or buy their wares. This man and his "friends" are thieves and engage in illegal activity.

These hoodlums should be kicked off the web. This entire site is a scam and the authorities of every country should be notified of this malicious and illegal website.
