Lyft Gift Card
February 2, 2021

This is actually about an experience my mother had with Giant Eagle. My mother purchased a $125 Lyft Gift Card at Giant Eagle Store #45. It was a gift for a friend who's car had been taken to the repair shop for an indefinite period of time. Unfortunately when her friend went to use the card she accidentally scratched the pin number to hard rendering it unidentifiable. My mother and her friend reached out to Lyft first, but due to the fact it was purchased through Giant Eagle they referred her back to the store. This does make sense because she did pay the $125 to Giant Eagle and with the proof of the receipt, the approval slip and the actual damaged card she should have ay the very least been given a replacement Lyft card if not as a courtesy more as a legality which I am sure can be proven as I am looking into this matter further.

Forget the e-gift cards if you want flexibility. Previously it was so smooth and easy. Now it's a pain and very impractical. We were at Lowe's to buy a dishwasher. I placed the e-card order around 8:30pm. It's 11pm and I still don't have a confirmation email. I called the customer service number and had to go through three people. They told me that I'd been confirmed and that the email would take 15-30 minutes. WWEELL... no. I am very dissatisfied. Forget going to a restaurant and purchasing a gift card for your charge. Forget going to Home Depot, T. J. Max, etc and ordering for your total.

I was with my husband at Hemphield Giant Eagle in Greensburg, PA on 1/2/21. His mask was below his nose and he was confronted by a butcher. My husband is hard of hearing and at first didn't realize that he was being talked to. The butcher kept following him and yelling at him. My husband explained that he has breathing problems and that he can wear it over his mouth but not over his nose. He was later confronted by another employee shouting the same thing. At the register, he was contronted by another employee who was telling him that if he didn't pull the mask over his nose, he would not be able to purchase anything. My husband left the store and I paid for the items. I felt threathened and fearful as all these employees followed us around the store, yelling at him. When I got home, I called a female manger to tell her my concerns. She said she was well aware of the incident because she too was following us around (we weren't aware of this)... so we were stocked and harassed by 4 employees because my husband didn't have the mask over his nose due to medical conditions he has. We will no longer be customers at Giant Eagle or Get Go. We have been customers for over 20 years and buy all our gas at Get Go. I can not be a returning customer after this treatment. I was told by the manager that even if a person has a medical excuse from a doctor they will be asked to leave the store if they don't wear a mask. And that they call the police and arrest people for trespassing when they refuse to leave.

Giant Eagle's Customer Service is despicable!
December 26, 2020
Updated review

UPDATE:
Was contacted by customer service, and was basically told that they condone harassment, abuse, hate, discrimination, and refusal of public service to anyone with a medical condition who are unable to wear a mask. That they deliberately don't care to abide by the ADA law, or the Civil Rights Act of 1967. It's unbelievably immoral and despicable! As a public service if you are unable to serve your customers to the best of your ability and abide by the law, then you deserve to be shutdown and go bankrupt. It's absolutely disgusting how you're employees treat their customers, an absolute disgrace, unethical!

Despicable treatment
December 24, 2020
Previous review

I was aggressively harassed and discriminated against today around 12:40 at the 2801 E. Waterloo Rd. Giant Eagle, (store #4029). Had two employees and their manager jumping down my throat over a mask after I explained to them that I have a medical condition, and it isn't proactive for me to wear a mask, they proceeded to harass me and refused service. So I went to the self-checkout, and there I was harassed by two other employees. I explained to them my same situation, and they continued to harass me and discriminate.
They tried to tell me that wearing a mask is the law now, they are sorely mistaken. Mandates are NOT law! I don't give into tyranny and unconstitutional acts of the government and these fear mongering dictators. The only ones breaking the law were your employees, so you should probably inform your employees on the ADA law, because they all broke it when I informed them of my medical condition and how they are breaking the ADA law by harassment, discrimination and refusal of service of someone with a medical condition. It doesn't matter what your policy is on masks, you still have to abide by the ADA law and the Civil Rights Act of 1964. And because of this despicable harassment and discrimination, I will be filing a discrimination/harassment complaint to the Ohio attorney general, Better Business Bureau, and Ohio Civil Rights Commission!

Overpriced! Other store selling Folgers 30 ounce classic medium coffee for $5.99-$7.59, giant eagle price $10.29. Absurd!
Online order website shuts you down from making any changes long before the order is being shopped. In our case the order was to be collected on Dec17, ordered Dec 15, and early December 16 website disallowed any changes.
Order submitted Dec 15. On pick up on Dec17 prices increased. Order was $20 more than what the original order placed indicated. There is no warning in online ordering that prices will change on Thursday regardless of what day you ordered and at what price.
Giant eagle unwilling to offer anything related to customer care. More or less told tough. Made formal complaint with Customer Care. I shall not go back to them. Makes me appreciate Kroger even more!

Produce
December 17, 2020

Their produce is always rotten. All the time. It always smells bad. And bugs. And their Apple Seiter tops are always smashed in.

Today I was kicked out from one of your Giant Eagle stores for not wearing a mask. The employee came up to me after my cart was full and I was almost ready to check out. She said I needed a mask. I let her know I have health issues so can't wear one. She said too bad, you need to wear a mask or we can't check you out. So I had to leave my full cart in the aisle while I walked out and went across the street to Kroger who would never deny someone service because of health issues.

Curbside Pickup
October 5, 2020

I love Giant Eagle Curbside Pickup. It's so fast and easy. You can use the phone app to let them know you are on your way. When you get there, your groceries are ready. They bring them out and put them in your truck for you. Everyone is so polite and friendly.

Rude Employees
September 30, 2020

Since the COVID 19 crisis began, I have noticed that the employees at Giant Eagle have surpassed their typical miserable service. They have become more of a supermarket police force bordering on the ridiculous. The service has always been rude, but now they have become even worse. I will not shop at this store again and will encourage others to not shop here as well.

Won't accept returns and use Covid as an excuse. Why should they be any different than Target, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Just another means of screwing the consumer.

Local grocery store in north eastern US. Wide selection of produce, meat and general grocery products. Wide selection of private brand goods. Only complaint is the pricing is high, occasional specials are good value, but by and large you can always find the standard staple groceries for less money elsewhere.

For many years I have been shopping with Giant Eagle. As a member of the Squirrel Hill community Giant Eagle has been my community Grocer for twenty years. For the past these past twenty years I have had nothing but positive things to say about the shopping experience that Giant Eagle offers and your wonderful employees, unfortunately as of last Monday my opinion has changed. On February 4,2019 I went to your southside location (2021 Wharton Avenue Pittsburgh, PA *******), I had checked your store hours previously, knowing you closed this location at 12 AM I knew I had to time do a quick shop, for two items. Upon arriving at your store, I was greeted by lock doors, it was approximately 11:30 PM at the time. I called the store location and an inside employee answered, I asked "why the doors were locked?" The employee responded that they wanted to leave the store at 12 and did not want to wait on additional customers. When I protested that I only had to shop for two items, they responded by saying, "that they had already shut down all the registers and there was nothing they could do."
In my mind this is some of the worst customer service that I have ever experienced. To shut down a location prior to closing and then to treat vested customers with little respect doesn't leave a very good taste in my mouth. With multiple other grocery chains, I could be shopping with, this experience does not make me want to continue giving my "valued" business to Giant Eagle. Unless these wrongs can be righted I will no longer shop at Giant Eagle, and I will give my business to another super market chain that honors their store hours and values their customers, and rest assure I will not continue to give Giant Eagle the high praises I once did. I will not return to shop at your locations until I receive a response from a representative from Giant Eagle in a timely manner, and I can be assured that I will never experience something like this again while trying to give my business to your company.

While I like the store itself, the WEBSITE is AWFUL! All I want to know is how much a product costs! This site does not seem to provide that information. Or if they do, apparently it must be a convoluted process to find those prices. I'm NOT going to "Add To List" unless you tell me how much it costs in the first place!

Expired food.
April 4, 2017

I was doing my usual weekly grocery shopping and as always, I check the expiration date. I first checked the expiration date on a package of guacamole, which expired quite some time ago. I then looked at yogurt, which was also expired. These foods were still on display for customers to purchase, including myself. This led me to finish my shopping early and purchase the few items I already had in my cart. I was not pleased with my grocery shopping trip.
