Although I have been with FlipKey for more than 5 years. FlipKey doesn't want anymore subscription accounts. They force guests to pay on FlipeKey's website, so they can charge a heafty additional "booking fee" of 8% to 14.5%
Their "help line" is in India, with incredibly rude people.
We were delisted by FlipKey without notice because we only booked 17 of 20 enquires. One of those 3 we didn't, wanted to bring a pig! Flipkey has no method of dealing with one-on-one issues. They offer an an endless cascading list of FAQs and help screens that don't address fundamental issues. Our guest who is arriving tomorrow contacted us directly because when she went to check on amenities at our place, and the whole listing was gone! Bad FlipKey. Time for new methods.
Don't use them! A Scam company! I made a reservation for a european trip, and paid the 120 EU reservation fee in May. In july my mother became terminal ill, and I was advised by the doctors to stay at her site. I canceled the reservation, and waited for my refund.
Never came. I tried to contact Flipkey, and clicked on useless read how to pages one after an other, unable to contact customer support. Finally find their number, called them. I was on hold for 35 minutes. Then an Indian lady very sweetly informed me I will not get my deposit back, because by the owners request, no deposit due. And I should of called them when I made the cancelation!
1: when I made the reservation, it was never stated if I need to cancel due to medical reason I will not get my deposit back.
2: when I made a cancelation, it never said on their website, call if you want refund.
Bottom line, it is a heartless useless company, don't use them!
Signed up with FlipKey to see if I could increase traffic to my B&B on lake in Kentucky. I have enjoyed a five star rating from 3 of the best online travel sites for the past 4 years and could not get one inquiry from FlipKey in the last 6 months. They do not have the following that many of the other online travel sites have. Don't waste your time with this company or your effort.
I am an owner of a rental property and just yesterday had to deal with an irate vacationer because FlipKey's vacation rentals website failed to properly sync my calendar with VRBO. Flipkeys customer service representatives, located in a foreign country, could not understand this issue and blamed me as well as the vacationer for the issue. I had to force them to help her find additional accommodations for the renter. I feel terrible for this woman and cannot believe trip advisor would associate themselves with such a terrible company.
This morning I learned that the renter did indeed find the necessary accommodations she required. I on the other hand refused to pay the cancelation fee and FlipKey blacklisted my listing from their website. Another sign of terrible customer service. Instead of fixing the problem they instead wipe it under the rug. I am sure this problem happens daily. I would NEVER EVER EVER use flip key or TripAdvisor again to list my properties.
I have been a vacation rental owner listing with FlipKey/TripAdvisor for many years. If you are considering listing your rental property with them be prepared to be totally frustrated with their customer service! After waiting more than an hour for the next available operator I was greeted by a voice that layed the phone down and never, NEVER came back on the line. I could hear laughing and jovial conversations in a language I could not understand. I am giving them a 2 star, only because I don't want to scare perspective renters from visiting my listing. I hope someone at FlipKey reads this, because I have no way of voicing my frustrations to the management. Disgusting costumer service today, twice.
Do not ever book anything using Flipkey. The worst company ever. They are currently in the process of assisting a very dishonest owner to keep in excess of $1100 for a property which I rented and had to cancel MORE THAN A MONTH before I was supposed to rent it. I spoke with the owner on the phone and she said she would issue full refund. Next thing I know, they are not issuing the refund because she changed her mind and she even told me that she got the cabin booked already with someone else for those dates! So of course I am going through my bank to cancel these unethical fraudulent charges right now. Very inconvenient. Incredible chutzpah! Shame on you, Flipkey and Trip Advisor!
Due to health issues with my husband, had to cancel two bookings set for this December in Ireland. Contacted both property owners in early June, and they both graciously agreed to a full refund of my deposits (less booking fees), totaling almost $1,000 USD. I've been waiting patiently since June 5th for my deposit refunds, and decided to call FlipKey directly today for a status.
Upon contacting FlipKey, they said that they had no knowledge of any cancellations, giving the impression that it was the owners fault for not submitting cancellation information to FlipKey. I've been in contact with both owners, and I have no doubt that they have followed through on their end. I believe that FlipKey is claiming ignorance, and will hold on to my money for as long as they can. Horrible customer service! My contact could barely speak or understand English, and it sounded as though he was reading from a script. I'm extremely frustrated.
My booking with FlipKey was made via TripAdvisor. I can't tell you how disappointed I am with TripAdvisor, as I thought they had a much better reputation than this.
Bottom line, FlipKey is a scam, and I will NEVER book with them again!
We 're listing 21 properties with flipkey since 2009 and always respected our engagement and payment. They changed several times policy and we follow. In May 2017, we were asked to remove all our properties from Holiday Lettings- we did it as they mentionned it is same company. We answer all our inquiries within 4 hours/ we got almost 5 stars reviews for all properties but because the calenders are not easy to up-date and we faliled to up-date and declined, they remove us with no notice.! And we have several booking to come but unable to access our properties. We 're waiting for now 72 hours to know what to do with the booking and payment to come- Silence. This is such a lack of responsibility and care for their customer. Very very dissapointing...
We have been with FlipKey for 8 years. We were a BETA TESTER for them when they first got started. Now they are obviously full of themselves and dictate all the terms to their customers! Hmm! Wonder why you have to increase your fees more than 120%!
Several months ago we got our listing renewal - it had gone up more than 120%. We couldn't afford it - so we purchased what we could afford!
Now because we don't keep up our calendar - we NEVER have- they can't get it right! They cancel and keep our $1500!

I had booked an appt. I received a message that the owner/manager had withdrawn the listing from the site, but would honour the booking... I called Flipkey to find out more. They didn't have any information but called me back after allegedly speaking with the owner/Manager to advise the listing was withdrawn because the appt. Was fully let. This seemed odd and a simple search of Airbnb located it, showing availability for my dates and several days on either side... Given this I asked Flipkey to cancel the booking and refund my deposit etc. I received a bland reply that completely ignored the facts they had been lied to, and there was the possibility of a double booking. It simply restated that the booking would be honoured and, by the way, my final payment was soon due. Appalling customer service.
I hate to say it but they have gotten passed and lapped by Airbnb who quickly grew. Flipkey needs to do what Airbnb does which is provide an insurance policy or the homeowners AND assurances for the renters. They currently are not an escrow either like Airbnb.
Can anyone help me? I am trying to contact flipkey about their stupid calendar and why I cannot show on calendar why guests cannot leave on a set day then new guests arrive on the same day.? Very frustrating. Do I have to call them in US what a hassle.

As an owner of 2 rental properties I find Flipkey/TripAdvisor a horrible, frustrating company to work with. Their people are rude, their technology is sketchy and amateurish, their policies are not at all customer centric - and worst of all, they don't care!. I'm so fed up that I'm going to let my listings expire. I hope my Flipkey guests will start using HomeAway/ VRBO instead.
My husband and I were given a prepaid gift card from our daughter to take a few days away. The card was for $500. Our balance was $640 and was told I could not use the $500 plus another credit card for the difference. The representative was not helpful or friendly. I will not use these people again.
Snippy attitudes... have the attitude tgat they are doing you a big favour that they allow you to list your property on your sute. Were bad before bought by Tripadvisor... they have gotten worse. I have tried all the sites including VRBO, booking.com, expedia... Airbnb, though not perfect, is by far the best. Flipkey is the worst!
Ever since TripAdvisor acquired FlipKey, FlipKey's service and business policies have turned extremely bad.
Finally after 12 days we got our damage deposit back. We have rented vacations from VRBO and never waited this long for a damage deposit return. It is a deal breaker.
As well the vacation home we rented was not in the best of shape as the owner was transitioning it from being a private home to a holiday rental. There were a lot of personal items in the kitchen cupboards, personal pictures, and even stuff behind the door in the laundry room. The house needed to be cleared out entirely and then a good cleaning.
I am Completely Over it with these people the only way to get hold of them is an expensive Toll call to the USA in the middle of the night and then you get transferred (on hold) and transferred (on Hold) from one idiot that only wants you to Upgrade your account to make some more money out of you and doesn't speak english to another idiot who's english is only slightly better to re confirm your ID again after another $30 toll call what I have known all the time and they have repeatedly denied and said they have paid me - when I KNOW THEY HAVEN'T now the account shows the Payment has failed

As i know I'm Not the Only one and its well known around other BNB Owners I know they do nothing but muck you around (its very hard to Find their Contact phone number - and then they Rub salt on it make you pay for it - and continue to deny things when you do get someone that speaks english

Scammers! I booked a house on Flipkey in Mexico and paid the deposit. A week later I received an email saying my booking had been cancelled because I hadn't paid the balance. When I tried to, pay the balance the booking had been cancelled. I booked another house with another company because it was getting close to my flight, and flipkey would not refund all of my deposit as there was a hefty cancellation fee. I called my bank to reverse the transaction on my visa but they had already refunded me a small portion, so my bank said they couldn't do anything. They obviously know the tricks to getting rich using fraudulent measures. Don't use these people they scam you. My husband and I were unemployed all of last year and this was the first vacation booked. We don't have this kind of money to throw away. I hope they are happy ripping off people.
Answer: If you do, you will loose all previous phone numbers and email address from previous inquiries. Flipkey will raise the rental rate paid by potential guests. In my case rents went from $3500 for a week to over $4,000.00 making my property no longer competitive. Service worked great up until a couple years ago. Subscription fees were raised annually, inquiries were dropping, and bookings were dropping. I contacted Flipkey yesterday and they said they are prioritizing free listings since Flipkey collects a healthy booking fee. Said their plan is to discontinue annual subscriptions. Convinced me that free listing will be best for me and they are going to credit my prorated annual subscription. After doing this, 330 previous inquiries phone and emails were gone! Make sure to capture previous contact info or you will loose it.
Answer: I list my property with Flipkey and VRBO. I finally got my first booking through Flipkey but the folks canceled because Flipkey charged them $300. VRBO's fee would have been $120. I would suggest going to VRBO. Looking at the rest of these reviews, it looks like a crappy company.
