Spider mite palm.
I purchased an8 foot tall Christmas palm. It looked pretty good when it arrived, but I noticed some flaking and scaling during the unboxing. I went ahead and planted it inappropriate soil, for indoor use. Over the next week, the plant took a turn for the worse. The palm fronds started browning and dying. I used AI to help me identify the problem which led towards spider mites. They're so small that they go undetected, but upon further inspection, you could see them and their webbing on the plant. I contacted the company and sent pictures. I was told that the fronds would fall off naturally and that I should just treat it with 50% water/50% isopropyl alcohol. This palm isn't small, or inexpensive. The pest problem isn't mine to contend with. I'm disappointed that the best they could do was tell me to treat THEIR problem. Now I have a giant, dying, infested palm tree in my living room. I will never buy another plant from this company, and I suggest you do the same.
