This app is a scam with misleading billing practices.
I purchased a $1 vehicle report with a clearly stated "3 Days Trial for Unlimited Vehicle History," but they charged me $99.99 before the 72-hour trial even ended. I contacted support immediately, but instead of issuing a refund for an unauthorized early charge, they refused and tried to "compensate" me with account credit I don't need.
Their customer service stopped responding once I pointed out that the charge was taken earlier than the trial period allowed. Very unprofessional and deceptive behavior.
Be extremely careful — they lure users in with a cheap $1 report and then hit them with a hidden subscription fee. I do NOT recommend this app.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but I am genuinely frustrated and disappointed by this experience.
I visited EpicVIN for one reason only: to purchase a single vehicle history report. I paid the advertised $1 promotional fee believing I was making a straightforward one-time purchase. A few days later, I discovered that I had been charged $99.99 because I had apparently been enrolled in a recurring subscription that I never knowingly intended to purchase.
The moment I became aware of the charge, I canceled the subscription because I had absolutely no use for it beyond the single report I originally purchased. I then contacted customer support and requested a refund. The response was essentially that the charge would stand and their decision was final.
What makes this so frustrating is that there is a world of difference between technically mentioning a subscription somewhere in the checkout process and ensuring that customers clearly understand they are about to be charged $99.99 on a recurring basis. I left the checkout page believing I had purchased a report. EpicVIN says I purchased a subscription.
The irony is that the report itself was actually quite good. The service appears to provide real value. Had the subscription been presented in a clear and unmistakable way, I would likely have returned as a customer in the future and recommended the service to others.
Instead, I am left feeling misled, disappointed, and significantly out of pocket. Based on my experience, I strongly encourage anyone considering EpicVIN to scrutinize the checkout process very carefully before entering payment details.
PS: I was contacted by a manager (Alice) who offered a refund and stated that the company values customer satisfaction and operates as a legitimate business. They confirmed that a refund has been processed.
I will only consider this matter fully resolved once I actually see the refund reflected in my account, as my experience so far has significantly reduced my confidence in their process. I will update this review once the refund is confirmed.
I visited epicvin.com to purchase a single vehicle history report and paid $1.00. Within minutes I was charged $99.00 for an annual subscription I never knowingly signed up for. The subscription terms were buried and not clearly disclosed during checkout.
When I contacted support, they refused a refund and offered $99.99 in account credit instead — which is useless to me as I will never use this service again.
I have since filed complaints with the FTC, Florida Attorney General, and opened a chargeback with my bank. The BBB has over 1,000 similar complaints against EpicVIN.
This is a deliberate and deceptive practice. Avoid EpicVIN — use free alternatives like NHTSA.gov for recall checks instead.
Do not trust this company under any circumstances! They operate a textbook bait-and-switch scheme designed to steal money from unsuspecting customers. I paid $1.00 exclusively for a single VIN report, only to discover later that they had surreptitiously enrolled me in a hidden recurring subscription.
When I caught the charge, I immediately contacted customer service, and my case was even reviewed by a manager named Megan. Her response? A cold, copy-pasted corporate wall of text hiding behind their predatory "Terms & Conditions" to deny my refund.
Let's be completely clear: a legitimate, honest business does not need to trap people into subscriptions they never requested. As your system logs show, I used the service exactly ONCE for my initial report (VIN 3N1CE2CP1FL*******) and have had 0% utilization since. Yet, Megan and her team insist on keeping money for a service that was never used.
Furthermore, they do not send a single courtesy email or reminder warning you that a trial is ending or that a high fee is about to be processed. They deliberately hide the subscription terms in fine print and avoid sending alerts so you don't notice the theft until it's too late.
If you look at the thousands of identical complaints on Trustpilot, Reddit, Google, and the BBB, it becomes undeniable that this is a deliberate, malicious business practice rather than an isolated misunderstanding. Thousands of customers from all over the world do not accidentally misread the same checkout page.
I have already cancelled this forced subscription and initiated a formal fraud complaint. EpicVIN has zero integrity, zero ethics, and their customer support is just a shield to protect their scams. Avoid them at all costs and use free, legitimate alternatives like the official NHTSA database instead!

Scammers! Very disappointed with the service. I checked the VIN code once and didn't even create an account. After 3 days, $99 was charged from the card, although I never agreed to a subscription. I didn't even know that I had a personal account. Later, when I tried to unsubscribe from the "subscription", the system again charged $99 for a repeated subscription. This looks like a hidden subscription and a scam. It is very difficult to contact support, they deny everything and claim that there is no refund for the subscription. I do not recommend it to anyone! Check your card and read the fine print - you can really lose money here.
