I ordered a rug on October 2,2020 with the understanding that normal delivery ( outside of an Amazon-type environment) could take up to 2 weeks.
I have made 3-4 inquiries about delivery. They provide no tracking numbers. After 3 weeks, I still have nothing. Someone always responds thanking me for my patience, but that no consolation.
It's a horrible process, and once I get delivery (if I get delivery), it will be my last encounter. Beware if you decide to order from English Elm.
Placed an order for a Safavieh crank umbrella for our patio table. Was really looking forward to eating outside with shade, and of course like the other reviews said it was not available. They did notify me right away and I cancelled the order. Everyone one else was out of stock as well and I asked for a discount if I could order through them and they gave a 10% discount, which I was happy about and placed the order. Fast forward almost 7 weeks later and the umbrella arrived. To be fair, they did tell me it was going to be 7 to 8 weeks because everyone and their brother is ordering umbrellas because of this lockdown. I'm not thrilled that I got the umbrella when it's almost fall, but that's not really their fault as they did tell me it was delayed. Overall it was a pretty straightforward transaction.
I should have listened to other reviewers. However, I did not and I learned my lesson. I placed the order when the item was shown online as in stock. Then I was notified it was backordered. After over a month, it was delivered. But it was the wrong one. I emailed them to ask to return the item, and it has been another few weeks since then but they still don't want to send me the return label. No customer service number you may call, all emails and no timely response at all. I almost made sending them emails a part time job now.
Honestly, I don't know what everyone is talking about, because I had a very, very pleasant experience. First of all you're talking to individual people with names. They're based out of the US (Chicago I think). They email you with updates right away (i did have an email that went to spam but that may be my own settings) and the item ships out as represented. Would probably order again, but don't really need anything.
English Elm processed my credit card and told me they were out of stock as well as the maker. I have checked every supplier known who carries this chair, and ALL have been out of stock. If you look online, they still do not advertise that chairs are out of stock. Completely misleading and corrupt. Plus they don't answer phone or messages. Big lesson. They suck.
I ordered from this company, and a month later they contacted me and stated that the item was on backorder and I was guaranteed a bed in the next shipment a month and a half later. I waited a month and a half, not only did I not receive the item they canceled the order and said it was due to insufficient stock. So they had my money tied up for over 2 months. I still haven't received my refund of almost $600. I'm telling you right now, do not use this company they are shady and horrible to try to speak with. No one answers the phone. They in my opinion suck. Stay far away. Run as fast as you can!
I ordered a comforter set that seems to be very popular. I found that it was in stock here. So I ordered it on Sept 5th. Sept 7th I get an email stating the item is no longer in stock and will arrive to manufacturers warehouse on or around Sept 14th and will receive shipping details then. Sept 20th rolls around and I contact English Elm on status of my order. Sept 21st I am told my order will ship "VERY SOON". A few days pass by and I reply back as to what their idea of "VERY SOON" is. She replies back 'within the next week or two'. Mind you, it is now Sept 25th and my order was supposed to be shipped around the 14th. I asked for a managers phone number, and an explanation as to why it is taking an additional 2 weeks. I did not receive a phone number I can call and was told they do not have control over the manufacturers timeframe. Even so, if they were off by even a week an email should have gone out advising this to me. I believe they did not place my order on reserve and gave it to another customer. Why else would the CSR Doreen tell me it is due to ship TO ME VERY SOON, yet in another email she states it will arrive at the warehouse in 1-2 weeks, then shipped TO ME from there. That's 3-4 weeks AFTER the initial shipping timeframe. Now, I'm reading these reviews about the quality and service of all the expensive orders and I think I might just cancel mine. These email responses just go to show how screwed up my order is, either that or this CSR does not know what she's doing.
UPDATE:
I responded and also noted I wanted to keep my order AND DOREEN CANCELLED IT ANYWAY! BBB here I come
Purchased Taos southwest 7 piece comforter set. Looks beautiful until closer inspection shows comforter had multiple cloth tears which have been sewn shut. Made in China!
I ordered chairs from this company and they were out of stock. Doreen informer me that she would keep me posted as to the status of these chairs. I never heard from her so I emailed to cancel The order, only to learn that she fulfilled the order without informing me as promised.
Getting a desk right now is next to impossible with everyone working from home. They had the perfect desk for my room, but the reviews here were pretty bad so I was hesitant. I spoke with "Doreen" and "Candice" prior to buying the item. Sure enough, it was out of stock, but you could still checkout, which was concerning. Doreen emailed back within the hour letting me know it is out of stock, but coming in a few days and was able to reserve it. Keep in mind this desk is out of stock everywhere, so I was thinking this is shady. I purchased and it came 5 days later. Felt I should give them some props for coming through. Maybe my bar was very low, but a lot of other places didn't even respond to my email asking if it was available.
I ordered a desk on August 10. I understand with COVID and the USPS stuff, there was likely to be a delay. Then August 20, I was informed that my shipment would be "pushed back slightly to the middle to the end of September." At that point I was able to just find something local, so on August 21, I asked to cancel my order. I was then informed that they would "try" but it might not happen. I then conveniently get an email on Aug 25 that my order has been shipped. That means that my refund will be short about $60 as the return is deducted from my purchase price, even though I requested cancellation up to 3 weeks from when I was told I would receive it. Do not buy from them. As others have said, they never answer the phone and their staff is incompetent.
Saw so many mixed reviews about this place online. Good reviews on google and other places, and really bad stories here. The lady answered all my questions before ordering so that was reassuring. I only purchased because Wayfair was out of stock on it. Ordering was easy and they were actually pretty good about updating me on the order itself. It arrived a little late but with covid it's about right. I was about to not order my nightstands because of the reviews here but I think it's a lot of disgruntled customers with horror stories (probably legitimate ones). In my limited experience, the order and communication was fine. Those are my two cents.
I ordered a comforter set. I emailed with customer service. I received my set within 1 week of order.
The set was exactly as described in new condition :)
I ordered a comforter set and haven't heard from them since! They never answer the phone or return emails. Oh, and don't call the stores, they are absolutely no help at all! This store should be closed! I'm going to have my credit card reverse the charge. DON'T ORDER ONLINE FROM THEM!
I ordered the Tommy Bahama Kingstown Regiment Huntboard for $1,899.97 from English Elm in early June. It's website says delivery within "8 to 13 business days." Two months later, a very damaged looking box was dropped off in my foyer. The delivery driver told me it was just from where the folks at the warehouse opened the box to inspect the contents before promptly leaving. I unboxed the very heavy buffet and my heart sank. It was not only broken across the front but the irregular-shaped wood piece which had broken off the front had small nails evidencing where someone, somewhere had previously attempted to repair it. That's what English Elm took 2 months to send me. A broken and repaired and broken again $2,000 buffet. I immediately emailed English Elm with photos and asked for help getting the enormous packaging and broken furniture out of my foyer. I said it had to be gone within 5 days as I had company coming. I said, otherwise, I would be forced to drag the 400 pound piece of furniture and its packaging to my front yard. I was warned by "Andrew N." not to remove anything. 5 days later, and it's still sitting in my foyer. English Elm has gone radio silent. Never again. Run, don't walk away from this shady operation.
Bad that we can't show more photos, this is the sofa I bought with white glove delivery service paid a extra $175 for that, and just dumped in the room not assembled, or even know if it works or what it looks like, the worst service the worst experience, can't get any help only bought because they promised delivery in 2 weeks, because it was in stock item, again not true arrived today bought 12 July, wish I read reviews before buying from this company and the delivery service was a nightmare they called AM DELIVERY, the online sale service girl was very sweet and would respond diligently until all was paid... and as soon you need them good luck they wipe their hands and say deal with shipper good luck getting any reply from them and read the reviews
I ordered a vanity, and a day and a half later I tried to cancel my order due to not needing it anymore, and as per the cancelation policy if item has not been shipped they can cancel and issue a full refund. I checked my order and indeed it had not shipped so I sent email to cancel and the next day I got a reply saying item had already shipped so they couldn't cancel it and gave me a tracking number. I checked my emails and did not receive any emails and the website showed item was not shipped. The tracking information they gave me stated that Fedex delivery was pending because label had been created and shipping information had been created but they have not received the item. THAT WAS A WEEK AGO AND IT HAS NOT CHANGED! They still refuse to cancel my order! Andrew N. And Doreen are dishonest. English Elm is a dishonest company and everyone should know! STAY AWAY! Products are probably crap too!
I wish I would have read all the other reviews before I ordered. This is one pathetic operation. I have never been spoken to by customer service like this before. They want you to keep the damaged merchandise and they will give you a discount! That's professional! The worst experience I have ever had ordering online. There's a reason no one has ever heard of this company before. Just go to wayfair- they know how to treat their customers. THE WORST!
Ordered day bed off here 2 weeks ago. It hadn't shipped yet so I checked the order confirmation email to see what the hold up was. Turns out they canceled my order 2 days ago without any email notification or explanation. They probably never had the bed in stock in the first place but they had it available on the website to purchase...
Stay away!
Most complicated return process I have EVER dealt with. I would not recommend purchasing from here if you are on the fence about an item simply because of the return process. You lose out on $15+ dollars depending on the size and weight of your item when sending it back (I am losing out on $15 return fee for a comforter PLUS whatever I end up paying at a shipping facility). You also have to create your own shipping label to send it back. Way too much of a hassle!
Answer: Price. Lowest cost versus other retailers and didn't realize customer service would be so bad.
Answer: Hello! We unfortunately aren't able to meet the call volume demand. We are very responsive in our emails. Have you attempted to contact us?
Answer: Bad service. Called 3 days in a row, left several messages and emails twice- no response- good thing I did not order- you just lost me as a customer K FULLER

Hello! I am sincerely sorry for the poor experience you had. We do offer discounts for minimally damaged items if customers would rather have that, but we never force customers to keep damaged items. I see that after you declined to keep your item for a discount your item was scheduled for a free return and full refund. Again, our apologies.
