I invested in solar panels expecting to cut down on energy bills and have some level of energy independence, but I'm honestly disappointed with the overall setup. What wasn't clearly explained to me at the time of purchase is that the system does not include battery storage. Without a battery, the panels only generate power while the sun is shining, and any excess energy just goes back to the grid instead of being stored for later use.
That means at night or during cloudy days, I'm still completely dependent on my utility company—basically defeating the main reason I wanted solar in the first place. I thought I'd have reliable backup power during outages, but that's not the case unless I purchase an additional (and very expensive) battery system separately.
The panels themselves work fine, but without storage, they feel incomplete. If you're considering solar, make sure you ask detailed questions about whether a battery is included, and be prepared for a much higher price tag if you actually want true energy independence. L
