Poor everything
March 13, 2023

It is not worth it. Quality it poor and received ugly beads i would never use. Some of the beads are so small that you can't even string the beads. I agreed to a 3 moth subscription but they do not honor that in any way. They will keep charging you no matter what. I feel that it is extremely poor customer service to keep charging someone above and beyond what they agreed to. If the subscription continues until you physically cancel, then you actually do not offer 3 or 6 month subscriptions at all. You are literally baiting people in and hoping they forget to cancel.

My New Favorite Bead Store!
July 29, 2022

I only recently discovered the Dollar Bead site (in May 2022.) Have ordered from them four times so far and have been happy with all my orders. They've all come to me perfectly complete- no plastic when I ordered glass beads, no missing items, no bad counts even. There is a box to tick if you want them to refund any out-of-stock items, or you can let them send you their closest replacements. Personally, I like to choose my own stock, so I always tick the refund box. It is nice to have options, though. Items being unexpectedly out-of-stock after I order has never yet become a problem.

The glass and lampwork beads I've gotten are good quality and were super inexpensive, like 5- 33 cents a bead for lampwork! Bright colors tend to sell out very quickly and may or may not get restocked. The orange and white lampwork beads that have been there at least since May are actually orange with a subtle white spider's web design. That is hard to determine from the single photo and isn't listed that way in the description, which makes me think that the person who does the descriptions has never noticed. I couldn't use mine for the project I'd intended them for, but hey, Halloween is just around the corner. I'm planning to make some party favors with them.

The regular glass spacer-type beads and glass that imitates gemstones are not quite free at Dollar Bead but are still an absolute steal. I would never try to pass off faux gem beads as real but I do like the look and the range of brilliant colors, hard to find in natural stones, even at premium prices.

The real gemstone beads I've bought there are mostly mid-grade in quality- I'd guess mostly B and C grade, but all the ones I've tested were the real stones. I wish I could say the same of other suppliers I've used. All the gemstone beads I've received were very pretty and useable even if they looked somewhat different in hue or pattern to the ones pictured in the photos. Generally, the photos listed are a pretty good indication of what to expect. You have to accept some variation, though, with natural stone and with handmade lampwork and hand-carved beads, as well. No two are ever going to be exactly the same. I much prefer beads that have character as opposed to the machine-pressed ones that are perfect and identical. But if you love those, Dollar Bead has plenty of those kind at great prices as well.

The packaging is minimal but effective. Breakage in my shipments has been either non-existent or negligiable. I think I've lost two plain glass spacer beads out of the many hundreds of beads bought across my 4 orders. I will use the broken beads too in a mosaic as soon as I get enough to make one. I try hard not to let anything pretty go to waste. My orders have taken anywhere from a couple of days to three weeks to appear, but I expect delays these days due to covid and related supply chain issues.

I'm puzzled by the low-ball reviews I've read here about Dollar Bead. I have to think that either other reviewers have had wildly different shopping experiences from mine, or perhaps some are mistakenly reviewing some other company with a similar sounding name- like Dollar Store beads, instead of Dollar Bead beads?

At Dollar Bead, I've found gorgeous genuine rose quartz nugget beads (20 of them for a dollar,) hand-carved jade and carnelian beads, each 3 to a pack for a dollar, all sorts of gemstone strands I'd easily pay 10, 20, 30 times more for on Amazon. The pic I'm including features some I haven't used yet of the many beautiful gemstone beads I've bought at Dollar Bead.

I suspect I'm missing a lot of good stuff that flies out of there every day, even though I check what's new just about every time I go online. My best advice is, check often. If it looks intriquing, spend a dollar or 1.15 for a sample strand or single pack. If you sample 15 or so items including several strands, you will end up with hundreds of beautiful assorted gemstone and glass beads for about 25 bucks including the cost of the flat rate shipping. Seriously, where else can you find that online? I like Dollar Bead because small numbers are available. I make one-of-a-kind art jewelry. I don't have any interest in making a thousand of the same piece, so bulk isn't practical for me. With an affordable assortment, I can turn those beads into many beautiful items and please my customers with one-of-a-kind, quality pieces at fair prices, while still turning a comfy little profit for my time and work. If you are a hobbyist, just starting out, have a small local business, or sell on Etsy, I guarantee you won't be sorry if you try this supplier.

By the way, the crimp beads, jump rings, and other findings I've bought here are sturdy and have worked great for me. I also liked the galaxy glass beads I bought, which remind me of mermaid glass- very reflective and shimmery- except with more sophisticated colors and neutrals.

I absolutely love this store! I've paid more elsewhere and gotten a whole lot lot less. When I need something specific for my jewelry, I'll always check Dollar Bead first. They don't have everything I require, but they do have great stuff that I haven't found anywhere else at better prices.

I hope this review is useful to you. Also, thanks to the reviewers of these other bead suppliers, many of which I haven't tried yet! Wishing peace, light, love, good health, and a more prosperous future to all!

My girlfriend holding carved carnelian beads, rose quartz nugget beads, green aventurine rounds, clear quartz nugget beads and carnelian nugget beads in a baggy- all bought from Dollar Bead. The photo does none of them any justice, sorry! I tried.

Great Value, Quality
May 3, 2022

I was very weary to order from Dollar Bead, as the reviews weren't great. I decided to take my chances anyway. They arrived in a timely manner and I was pleasantly surprised that they were all glass. Quality is just as good as Michael's and Hobby Lobby. I ordered some detailed beads and they are beautiful. Not sure how they sell them for $1.00 a strand. I'll definitely order again.

Plastic Beads, Broken and Bad company to buy from
March 15, 2022

I get it beads are $1 a strand. But in your descriptions it says "glass" and when the customer gets them it's "plastic" beads. I called Lisa up and told her about it and she basically called me a liar and hung up on me. This is an online company but yet you can't call her for an issue or a problem, you have to get in contact with her via email. This company is really not a real good company. I've ordered crackle and abstract beads and most of the paint is coming off of the beads, and most beads does not even have the paint stuff on them, just plain beads. Lisa needs to be straight forward with the descriptions of the beads. Oh yeah if you want a refund, well then you have to ship all the beads back to her then she will issue you a refund. And yes you have to pay the shipping too. THIS COMPANY IS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY, NOT EVEN FOR $1.

Good, but...
October 28, 2021
Previous review

I ordered from this website and my purchase was shipped immediately. When the shipment got to me I realized that one of the bead strings was the wrong color. I went back to the website to cross reference then I sent a message on their page. I'm not sure if the messaging system works because no one got back to me after several days. So then I had to go to the "contact us" section to get their direct email address. I got a response less than a day later. I explained the situation about how the beads I bought were the wrong color and the replier, Lisa Crook, basically said that I was wrong. (I ordered the 6mm Jasper-Style Glass beads) which are supposed to be a light blue with white speckles. The strings I received were black with white speckles. Her only reply was that "Blue is Lapis, not Jasper." So I'm mad because if this is how the customers are responded to after purchasing from this company when there is a product issue, I might not do business here, no matter how cheap their products are. I sent a screenshot of the image so hopefully they will see the error on their side. But I should not have to do this because they should know their products well enough to realize the error. Besides this issue, the other beads I received were lovely.

Here's the link: https://dollarbead.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=312&products_id=23901

Please tell me I'm not crazy. These beads are not black and white.

Great Prices for Glass Beads
January 6, 2022

If you're looking for quality glass beads at super low prices, then shop this site. I have bought facetted glass in beautiful colors for as low as. 20 a string! Sometimes there is a bit of " talc" powder on them, but a dunk and shake in white vinegar with a clear water rinse solves that problem. I have never been disappointed with any purchase from this company.

Don't waste your money.
September 9, 2021

None of the beads I ordered were glass, metal, or brass, as stated in the product descriptions. Everything is made from cheap plastic. Every strand of beads have multiple plastic beads stuck together & the paint peels off when you seperate them. When I complained to the Company & asked for a refund, they didn't deny their false advertising & they said I could return my order for a refund, minus the shipping. Stay clear of this company,, they are selling cheap plastic beads at literally top dollar prices. Very bad business, all the way around.

Got more then I paid for.
March 26, 2021

I started to order some time back. And then I didn't. Because I read some bad reviews. But I was checking it back out and decided to give them a try. I was very happy with my order. I got more then I paid for. Shipping toke 5 days everything was their and beautiful. 2 little bead out of a thousand were broken. But I very seen what the postal service does to packages. I give dollarbead 5 stars and 2 thumbs up. I was very happy with the quality. All the beads were exactly as described. I would like to remark to the review with the broken or chipped crackle beads. When they get the crackle effect. They make the beads really cold and then get them really really hot and this shatters them somewhere between 1/4 and 1/3 make it through the process whole. The ones that do are pretty but can break very easily. Some may never break. So when you buy something that is already broken. How can you be upset about it being broken.
And I want to say thank you to dollarbeads I'm very happy with my order.

Does not address problems with orders
March 13, 2021

I was happy to find this site at first. Got many cool beads for a good price. They do sell all made in china and in India beads. You can tell this from the malformation of the glass beads. The bicones are all mishapen, and some of the glass beads have visible extended seams, which show they are made in india, so expect some malformed beads. Also the comment about the priority box is true, they do not bubble wrap or protect the beads... loose strands all in the same box. I expected some faults, I mean a dollar a strand, good price. In my fourth order I had glass pearls and crackle glass beads. There was no wrapping inside the box and some of the crackle glass beads were broken and had chipped the paint off many of the glass pearls. I contacted the company and they acted very rude about my compalint and treated me as if I was lying, however They sent me replacements. On my 5th order I ordered all 10mm beads and was sent a box of 4mm cheap metallic round beads. I contacted them and told them and there response was *we sent the correct beads*. I took a photo and sent them the picture of what I recieved, and they did not respond. Thank goodness I paid with paypal, and they helped me get my money back. Never ordered from them again

Bad shopping experience
January 11, 2021

Limited time to shop. I spent two hours online shopping for supplies to make rosaries. I had a sizable order in my cart. I got a call which took about 10 minutes with my customer. When I returned to finish my shopping cart, it was empty. That was like leaving you shopping cart in an isle, only to come back and your cart is gone and you items put back on the shelf. Thought I would call the company and to my shocking surprise, there was not one thing on the site to identify who, what and where! RED FLAG, it myst be a scamming site... just BEWARE

I have ordered a few times and I love that the beads are cheap and you can order different things to see what you like and want to reorder. However, the packaging is horrible! My last order was over $90 and if you have been on their site you know that's a lot. Everything is crammed in the priority mail bag. Beads have fallen off the string and things were broken (this order and last order). I have sent many emails and no one responds to me. I decided to order one more time and it was delivered on September 3. Many items were out of stock and they replaced them with other items that I don't like. I rather them just credit me. Also I was missing items and was still charged for them. It is now September 16 and I still have not heard back from them. I guess I will get PayPal involved as they will be happy to get my money back. If you are just beginning to make jewelry and want to know what certain beads are, this is a good place to go. You can but a strand for a buck. If you don't like it, you're not out much.

Great prices
September 16, 2019

I have ordered several times and items were a very good quality and price. I have ordered a few that I didn't particularly like but I selected them. They ship quickly with a good basic mail rate. It usually arrives 4-5 days after placing my order. Craft stores have a really high price even with their sale price. Dollar Bead doesn't have the huge overhead costs and sells at a very affordable price. I will continue to buy from them.

I ordered several times with some good experiences, but the two bad experiences I had, in which dollarbead.com charged me for items that I never received, has made me close the door on this business. When I contacted Dollarbead.com about their mistake, I had to argue my case (as if I had done something wrong), and Dollarbead.com was slow to respond, until Paypal got involved.

Not a way to win the faith of this customer. I'd much prefer to pay a bit more to a bead business that values customer service.

So for those reasons, I'm out.

I was so excited to see the cheap prices for good beads
February 6, 2015

I was so excited to see the cheap prices for good beads. But... they have a standard shipping fee of i believe it was $5.75. So no matter what you get you pay that. So if you only spend a buck ( yes, they literally have beads for a buck), you still have to pay that standard cost. But i guess if you are buying a lot, then it works for you. Secondly, and this may not be on their behalf, but i ordered beads, lets say on jan. 7 and got them 13 days later! I was a bit furious about that one.

I have to say, I was so happy with everything involving my order. The site has tons to offer, great prices, and QUICK delivery time! I was surprised to see my package come within 3-4 days. I wish there was more of a selection for pendants while the ones they have are pretty, they aren't my speed or my clientele's. I love this site and will order again and again!
