I trusted this site for years. This was the place I came to for emulators and roms. They delivered without fail. I was incredibly enthusiastic when they started uploading entire ISO's for PSX games back in the early part of '09. Now this place has absolutely gone to $#*!. They're far beyond repair. I went to download a Genesis rom earlier this evening and their $#*!ty $#*!ing download manager infected my computer with malware. Never again will I return to this website for ANYTHING, and I highly recommend that nobody else go there, either. This was one of the most reputable emulations sites online for many years. Now their name is $#*! and I wouldn't recommend this site to my worst enemy. I don't know what happened but this entire site has gone to hell. What a crying $#*!ing shame. I'll never, ever download anything from there again. I'll stick to Emuparadise or other sites from now on. These sad people can go $#*! themselves. I hope Coolrom goes under and they all end up working at McDonald's for the rest of their lives. That's all they deserve.

When I discovered emulation in the summer of 2007, I had a hard time trusting sites, as they often gave off a sketchy vibe, and more often than not, hurt my computer. When I found you, I had no issues - a ten second wait time was all that you asked for when downloading a game. In fact, across every emulation site I ever visited YOUR ROM files (particularly N64) were the highest quality I had the pleasure of running across.

That $#*! changed seven years later.

My girlfriend was highly interested in emulation and out of the kindness of my heart, I helped her install a SNES emulator (courtesy Emulator-Zone) and a copy of EarthBound. I noticed something rather bizarre though - your timer download was replaced with a shiny 'DOWNLOAD NOW' button. Bizarre, but I had figured you just got rid of the timer, since it in itself was pointless to begin with.

Nope.

Ten seconds later, I found myself face to face with your 'downloader', and this bizarre 'antivirus' program known as Optimizer Pro, screaming that I had thousands of 'issues'. Strange that it would be that sick, since I bought her laptop a week earlier.

I'll stick to EmuParadise from now on.

You want to know what the biggest irony is? Back in the day, I went to your website as my mainstay BECAUSE EmuParadise gave me a virus. In fact, I remember it was the GBC version of Portal Runner.

Strangely, they're perfectly clean now, and you became the adware infested $#*!hole.

Please go die, and clean your $#*!ing act up, you sleazy pricks.

This website used to be very good, it gave you a direct and easy download for a lot of emulators and roms. Now, it requires you to run an installer for games and emulators, which pesters you with malware ridden "extra" downloads. When I ran malwarebytes on the installer for a snes emulator, it came up with dangerous and is now removed from m computer. $#*! you coolrom, you used to be the best site for emulators and roms, but now you are trying to push malware infected bull$#*! onto us with your big name in the emulation scene. STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS SITE AS POSSIBLE.

While it does host a multitude of roms from across so many consoles the issue is the fact it has it's "ad supported downloader" THIS CARRIES VIRUSES/MALWARE INTO YOUR PC. To prevent this use the download link under the "This file will be downloaded through the CoolROM Downloader making the download process much faster and ensuring the file is virus-free." message.

Use the "Alternative download link (with ads and timer)" as this is perfectly fine.

Something terrible has happened to this site. It used to be fantastic.

I'm not sure why it uses it's own downloader these days, but every time I have used this downloader to download a rom it has come with a trojan that has allowed all kinds of horrible viruses and malware onto my hard drive.

This is not good enough for a rom site that gets such heavy traffic and is (or was) so favored by gamers.
