My experience has been great. I love how the teachers are attentive and easy to reach. I just wish that TCAH was from K -12th grade.
My family travels for work, and we needed to take our son with us. We decided to give MOCA a try because of the flexibility. It has been a great success. Our son says he feels like he has learned more than he was at his in person school. My husband was concerned about his social interactions, but they have regular opportunities for him to get together and meet people in his own age group. He also has plenty of time to talk to his friends. Overall, it has been a very positive experience for us.
Hi Mandy. So glad you tried MOCA and that it's working so well for your family. We're especially glad to hear that your son is feeling good about his school work and is taking advantage of opportunities to socialize with his classmates! ~Kim
I can't say enough about our positive experience with OCA. My 4th grade granddaughter looks forward to getting online with her pals for live lessons, and loves the lessons and activities. The teachers are very good and she just loves them. I think she is getting a great education and her scores reflect this. We'll be back next year!
We're so glad you're coming back, Kathleen. And we also LOVE that your granddaughter looks forward to LiveLesson sessions with her pals! ~Kim
The teacher's and staff have been very helpful and genuinely want my student to succeed. Great choice for us.
Hi Trena, We're so happy to hear that our teachers have had such an impact on the education of your student. Thank you for sharing! ~Alexis
We started our son on this school in kindergarten. He is now completing 8th grade this year. This system along with our involvement at home has helped produce a more critical thinking and independent individual than brick n mortar in my humble opinion. His mom has had health problems in the past escalating into a very challenging time for our family. She has now progressed into end of life stages. Without the flexibility of this system... the teachers and faculty that support it...constant evolution I would have had to pull him out of traditional school for sure. When the world fell apart in 2020 he lost no pace. In fact that is my only problem with the school. In 2020 when room needed to be made for brick and mortar kids to jump in due to school closures they cut 1/2 of the curriculum out for the year right away. Then there was one other adjustment. I'm not faulting them for being great human beings... it's just my only complaint. Thank you for helping us not only to educate our child but to be hands on involved. It has been some of the greatest moments with our son.
Our daughter has attended Connections Academy for 2 years now, and the experience has been terrific. We have excellent communication between her teachers and administrators, and they take any questions or concerns we have seriously. The schedule is very flexible and allows for plenty of extracurricular activities, and the school also offers plenty of clubs and field trips too. My entire family is thrilled that our daughter can get an education this way in a safe, loving, and supportive environment. My husband and I both work part-time from home so it is a perfect fit. We decided long ago that our child would not be going to a brick or mortar school, and Colorado Connections Academy is the best school we could hope for.
Quality curriculum and dedicated teachers are the cornerstones of our program, but we're pretty excited about the extras too, and we're so glad to hear that your family is taking advantage of things like field trips and clubs, too! We're looking forward to learning and growing together again next year! ~Kim
My son has been doing much better since he enrolled into the connection Academy school his work have been more better he have been excellent at doing other things that he have never done when he was in regular school this is a great school for any child to learn from teachers that help you the coaches other parents to help you and the counseling and everything is great and teachers experience with the child is very great I like how they talk with the child how they explain the assignment and how they let you know when the child is doing well or if they're needed if they any other if they need any credit recovery work the counselor will automatically let the child know that they're going to add that to their assignment for the credit recovery and teachers show them how to correct work my son and I are pleased to be at the school it's a wonderful School
Hi Mattie. We are thrilled to hear that things are going so well for you and your son. Thank you for your review! ~Kim
I came to Connections Academy after my son had some health issues and I also felt he wasn't progressing at his school. I was nervous when he started but as the school year progressed I noticed a complete change from my son. He was up for class and actually enjoying it. The best part is that you are not alone. The teachers the counselors are always extremely helpful and response times are quicker than I ever got from regular public school! Best decision was coming to Connections
There is nothing we like to hear more than a story about a student who rediscovered the joy of learning.
As a public educator in a brick and mortar school, I was hesitate to look for online virtual schooling for my 8th grader. I cried, prayed and ask God to send me a sign the school we choose as a family would give us what we needed for our daughter. After 4 months of searching, we decided SCCA was a good fit for our child. The requirement these teachers are required to hold are the exact requirements I hold in the brick and mortar schools of SC.
These teachers really care about our students, the extra time and input they give these students is way more than what I can give as an educator. They weekly lives, then they give extra help and even met with your student one on one! I applaud SCCA and it's educators for a job well done. Having a class of 25-28 kids in my room everyday 6 times a day, I honestly struggle having time to grade everything and meet one on one with my students unless it is on my time and no pay. Then to add to the fire, I have other duties and the stress is a lot. But these teachers begin each day refreshed and eager to reach my child. Thank you SCCA for everything you do for our students who have chosen to do virtual public school. Thank you for looking out for my child. A child that was bullied and overseen because she portrayed to have it together, when actually she was fallen apart.
HI Donna. We're SO glad you took a chance on SCCA and that your student found a good fit here. We're looking forward to the coming school year, and we hope your family is, too. ~KIm
As I said great staff the star of the staff is Dorothy Larson they need more just like not only is she my son's teacher but now our family friend!
HI Donovan. Thanks for the shout out to Dorothy! We
I joined this school in late 2021 as a sophomore and I'm a junior (11th) now and I wouldn't ever consider leaving, it's asynchronous so I can still communicate with my teachers and choose to join and I don't feel cornered to do my work everything is flexible but not in a lazy way, this school really does care for their students the teachers listen to every kids needs, and helps them in any/every way they can, I passed my freshman year with about a 0.587 gpa after switching I've passed sophomore and will pass junior year with a 3.5+ average I've learned so much, the teachers don't take 3 weeks to grade something, this school gets students ready for the future and let's them be creative this school isn't discriminatory it's so welcoming, this school celebrates black history month, women month, and more, they talk about successful people related to those months, this school is the best I would never choose to leave, I figured out what I want to be when I'm older and the teachers motivate me whenever I feel a little down, I've become good friends with my teachers especially biology she's amazing, thanks to this school I've become a successful student, I went from not wanting to grow up, being unmotivated, failing, hating school to loving it, wanting to go, I've learned a lot, I've learned self discipline, I've become a great person and student going here.
You made our day, Rayne! Thanks so much for sharing your experience. We can't wait to see where your future takes you! ~Kim
My son had been struggling ever since Covid hit. He was needing to make up his whole freshman year and half of his sophomore year. A friend had recommended CA Connection Academy and it has been life changing! Not only has he been able to catch up, he's on track to GRADUATE on time! Mrs. Clark (sophomore year home room teacher) and Mrs. Beltrami (current home room teacher) have gone ABOVE and BEYOND! They have been heaven sent and without their positivity and cheerleading my son wouldn't be where he is today. All his teachers have been amazing, encouraging and supportive. I feel so blessed to have found such a wonderful school and would recommend Ca Connections Academy! Thank you for having such a wonderful staff!
Hi Tiffany. COVID was a tough time for so many students. It's so good to hear that your son has found what he needed and is thriving now. Thanks for sharing your experience and let him know we're cheering him on! ~Kim
My daughter started school at Connections Academy in January. Been an awesome change for my daughter and I. She enjoys school a lot more and she actually LIKES HOMEWORK... THIS IS THE BEST.
Hi Misty, We're thrilled to hear that your daughter is enjoying school now! Thank you for leaving your review! ~Alexis
My 10 year old daughter loves this school. She has great teachers. This is the best decision that I have made.
Hi Tina, We're so glad you made the decision to enroll and that your daughter loves going to school! ~Alexis
This has been seamless experience. I do appreciate the care provided in the education of my child at Connections Academy.
Thank you,
Hi Robert, We're glad to hear that re-enrolling your student for the upcoming school year has been seamless for you! We hope your family has a great rest of the school year! ~Alexis
My son struggled after the Covid lockdown. When he returned to public school he struggled. He went from an honor roll student to failing every class. He was being bullied relentlessly. I struggled with the public schools for over a year. I finally learned about Connections academy. My son is now a happy thriving 15 year old. He is doing great academically as well as personally. It is the best decision we have ever made.
Hi Robin, We're sorry to hear that your son had such a difficult time at his local school, but we are so happy to hear that he is thriving with us. We hope he continues to reach his full potential! ~Alexis
We decided to switch to online school due to many issues in the public brick and mortar school. Bullying that was never dealt with, lack of communication with staff, no personal attention. I've been amazed at the communication from everyone at Connections Academy! My sons home room teacher is so helpful, attentive to his needs, and I hear from her more times in one week than I heard from prior teachers in a year! Any questions I've had have been answered so promptly, clearly, and we've not been made to feel like an inconvenience. The program is very easy to use, especially once you get the hang out it and there's always help available if needed. Being able to work at his own pace has also been so beneficial. He can work ahead, take his time, take breaks whenever needed. We are definitely very happy with the switch!
Hi Pamela, Thank you for leaving your review! We're glad that your son is in a safe learning environment while continuing to have the support of teachers! ~Alexis
Our family was introduced to Connections Academy through a friend of ours whose daughter graduated from Connections. When the public schools were reopening for in-person we were not absolutely sure about allowing our student back in. When we visited the school our student was going to attend, the classrooms had no social distancing, and that confirmed our decision to consider NMCA. Since then we love it! We love the flexibility! We love that our student is able to learn at his own pace and with the pearson curriculum he is actually learning unlike the public schools. I have always been involved with our student's education when our older ones were in the public school system before the pandemic, but Connections gives me complete access to his learning and I love that! The Teachers are great! I would encourage any parent(s) to consider NMCA for a better, deeper, and challenging learning platform for their student(s).
Hi Brenda, We love that you're able to be involved in your student's education and that NMCA has been a great fit for your family! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! ~Alexis
"If you are looking for a school that will learn you more than a public school, this is the choice for you!. The teacher and staff are so nice!, and they even have courses to give you an opportunity to learn about new material, they even have an early-graduate plan too... I even love this school myself!.
Hi Abbigail, Thank you for leaving your review! Our teachers are the cornerstone of our schools, and it's great to see that their hard work is appreciated. We hope that you and your student continue to love being with ALCA! ~Alexis
Excellent Teachers, always there to help when needed. Excellent learning platform. Just an all around excellent school.
Thank you for the 5-star rating, Giselle! ~Alexis
Answer: Work at your own pace is the biggest lie out there. Supplies are usually quick to arrive though.
Answer: That is a very good question Dee. We were drawn in with that promise as well. They use exampmes of child athletes and child actors (at least they did when we were going through their website looking for schooling options) as examples of how flexible their program is but we found it to be a very different experience.
Answer: Do not put your child in this program i hate it i switched to connexus i could get more time in the gym and work out i used to spend five hours in the gym in normal school but now im only limited to one hour a day because i have so much work.the teachers never respond and its horrible they dont help me and when im at gym they call then i cant i pick up so they call my parents who are at work and will get in trouble if on there phones. I hate tis school and everyone in it and your kids will to so DO NOT DO IT! 1111
Answer: Attendance is more important to the school keeping it's Charter, than making sure a student is truly on track academically. The School has no communication skills, which is why it probably attracts lazy teachers.
Answer: I find that people take the time to vent about bad experiences rather than take the time to write reviews for good experiences. If things are working, why scour the internet for reviews. Every kiddo/parent will have a different experience with Connections Academy. Like any school program, it's not going to be right for everyone, not everyone will like a teacher, or administration or class... It's a rigorous school, not a homeschool program with lots of flexibility and curriculum that can be changed. It's working for my 7th grader, but it is hard and we wouldn't be enrolled if he didn't have me to sit by him 80% of the time. Otherwise he's getting an excellent education in Oregon and we love the teachers.
Answer: Yes, you can do you your at any time. I start at 5:00am and finish at 11:00am.
Answer: Maybe once a month. The student might get a phone call from his or her homeroom teacher on a monthly basis. Other than that, unless you or the student contact the teacher individually, then the interaction is done as a whole in the Live Lesson rooms. And so much outside stuff goes on during Live Lessons, the students do not get a lot out of them.
Answer: Hi Tina, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per day), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. Outside of the LiveLesson sessions, work is done independently, and students can typically complete their schoolwork any time of the day, any day of the week. ~Alexis
Answer: Hi Malorie, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per week), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. In general, there is no set time to log in outside of the LiveLesson sessions, so students can typically work any time of the day, any day of the week. For information specific to the school(s) in your state, please email us at [email protected]. Thanks! ~Alexis
Answer: Hi Monique, Many students with special needs thrive in online school. Can you please email us at [email protected] so we can connect you with the Special Education team in your state and also provide you with additional eligibility information about the school(s) in your state? Thank you! ~Alexis

Hi Antionette. We're so glad you're having a good experience. We want to let you know that there's currently a bill in the State Senate (#1861) that would allow virtual public schools to offer 2nd grade, and to offer kindergarten and 1st grade to students who have at least 6 weeks of attendance in an in-person public school. If this option is important to you, we hope you will reach out to your state lawmakers to let them know about your success with online learning and your support for the efforts to expand virtual options, including adding lower grades. If you'd like to learn more about advocating for school choice, please send us an email to community@conne ctionsacademy.com. ~Alexis
