I know everyone probably doesn't have a bad experience with them, but I can say my experience with them was awful. They are not good at communicating back with the parents and they kept rejecting the documents they were asking for, which led to my daughter missing the deadline, when I started the process a month prior to all of this. I wouldn't recommend this online school. Or at least they school better communicate.
As a single Mom that travels as a health care provider our family needed the flexibility to attend school anywhere, and after having my child assaulted in a traditional public school we opted for on line. However our experience has been very much less than acceptable. I am an older mom and some of the assignments were confusing and hard to navigate. The curriculum is not engaging for my child and it became a FIGHT to help her complete the assessments. Our relationship has suffered because of this. She has went from an A-B student to a D-F student. When I asked for help, I was told this was a you problem not a we problem. Very little to no help was offered. In summary, I would continue to look at other options if considering this particular school.
Hi Terri, We always aim to provide a high-quality education to our sudents, and we're sorry to hear that hasn't been your experience. We attempted to reach out to you privately but did not her back. We've forwarded your concerns to Arkansas Connections Academy's elementary Assistant Principal. A staff member will be in touch to assist. ~Alexis
My daughter attended FCA for one year as an interim as she auditioned into an art school because our local public schools aren't the best. My daughter loved her time at FCA, and she improved her GPA and state testing scores on Math and English. I wanted to keep her in FCA, but she wanted the art school! I was most impressed with the teachers and their helpfulness/responsiveness when she was confused with assignments. I would wholeheartedly recommend Florida Connections Academy, we will return if the art school doesn't work out. Education is changing shape and doesn't fit the brick and mortar mold anymore.
Hi L W, We are thrilled to hear that you and your daughter had such a positive experience with Florida Connections Academy! We hope that she's doing well at art school! ~Alexis
Worst Enrollment process ever! ITS END OF AUGUST AND MY CHILD HAS STILL NOT STARTED SCHOOL! Our last call before today was 10 days ago after they told us that our account has been sent over to the principle of Georgia connections academy for placement. Today we call and still on the phone...i have been placed on hold for 5 times...lady I was speaking to didn't like my tone and frustration so when I asked to speak to a supervisor or someone who can advice us on what is really going on...she sent me to another department...APPARENTLY IM ON HOLD NOW FOR 15 MIN WAITING ON PLACEMENT TO PICK UP!...
Back story,
We started enrollment for my 2nd grade son in JULY. They asked us to upload documents from his previous school. I had a copy of his last report card on my Email so i sent it in...they sent it back saying it was missing the school year...I went ahead and called the school and requested an official transcript.Once we had it we uploaded it together with all the health documents. We called same day to confirm they had received all documents. They said they now have everything and are submitting our account to the principle to review and placement. Well.Ten days later, they are still saying our report card is still missing the year...but this is after several people told us it should not matter because we have submitted an official transcript. There is no way for us to delete a document so i asked them if they can remove the report card from our account because apparently thats what has been holding everything!...I regret pulling my son out of the school he was in...school started 2nd of AUGUST, we still dont have a clear path to what is going to be done...they are giving us the run around and constantly giving us different information. I will not be surprised if they email us telling us the 2nd grade placements are now full and no more space.what a joke!...im still on hold with placement btw...1:00:17 later!
Update! Surprise surprise, 2nd grade is now on waiting list! This is beyond unacceptable
Hi Purity, We're sorry to hear that you've had such a negative experience with the enrollment process. We attempted to reach out to you privately to assist but did not hear back. We always encourage families to keep their students enrolled at their current school until enrollment is confirmed with us to avoid truancy. A staff member will be reaching out to you shortly to assist. Please continue to keep an eye on your account for any updates. ~Alexis
My grandson was enrolled in the Arkansas Academy in late March and though we had to go through several hurdles, overall he is satisfied. They do add a LOT of work for the students to complete on a daily basis and it can be hard to keep up but my grandson pressed his way through with the support of his teachers. One teacher in particular called, texted and face-timed me and my grandson on the last day of school to help and make sure he got his assignments in on time. She stayed with him until after 9 pm. She was amazing. This was only our first year and we are hoping this upcoming year is a great as the first short time with the academy.
Hi Denise, Thank you for taking the time to leave your review! We love to hear that you and your grandson have been satisfied overall with Arkansas Connections Academy. If he is ever feeling overwhelmed with his schoolwork, please be sure to reach out to his teachers for additional support. We hope you have an amazing 2023-24 school year! ~Alexis
I have two kids (7th grade and 12th grade), both have only done Minnesota Connections Academy for their education. I highly recommend this school! My son is graduating this year, and he will start college as a junior this fall because he did PSEO the last two years. He was more than prepared for college because of his educations with Connections. My daughter loves the flexibility and being able to learn at hew own pace.
Hi Cate, This is great! We're thrilled to hear that your son has been able to set himself up for success with Minnesota Connections Academy and that your daughter can learn at her own pace! Thank you for sharing! ~Alexis
I have been disappointed in the Learning Coach "classes" as they are not geared toward Connected Learning kids. The Connections News also is not inclusive of special needs students or their teachers.
Teachers are great though. Carol Burhans has been super! IEP process has been very good too. I wish I could have gotten some in person support as we discussed.
Hi Gerri, Thank you for your feedback. We're happy to hear that our teachers have had a positive impact on your student. We encourage you to continue working with the Special Education team at your school to ensure the needs of your student are being met. If you would like for us to have a staff member reach out to you, please email us at [email protected]. ~Alexis
I would like to thank Connections Academy for all their input with our children. I'm so happy I found this school and my son accomplished more and his mental health progressed more thanks to all the attention given. I'm glad i was able to be part of this and i have referred family and friends as well. Wish all schools could be like this one.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, Melissa. We're glad to hear that your son is able to accomplish so much while enrolled here. We hope he continues to reach his full potential with us! ~Alexis
We love the flexibility and ability to complete assignments when we're able to.
Hi Michelle, Thank you for your review! We're glad to hear that you like the flexibility of our school! ~Alexis
I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the supportive and well prepared staff. They have done everything to help my daughter with patience and strong perspective. My daughter has a few learning difficulties with focus and concentration. The entire staff was thoughtful and understanding and allowed this to be a strong experience for her. I am pleased and couldn't ask for better results. Thank you from my heart
Hi Clifford, Our teachers are the cornerstone of our schools, and we're grateful to hear that they have made such a difference in your daughter's education. Thank you for sharing! ~Alexis
Mnca is a wonderful school. We are able to work at our pace. We have enjoyed the virtual and in person field trips. They seems to offer something for everyone with the wide variety of options. The teachers are so warm and engaging with the students. My daughters teacher Mrs.Werner has taken the time to know each of the students in her class and is able to encourage them not only about academics but whatever interests them.
Thank you for sharing your experience with Minnesota Connections Academy, Kim! We love to hear that families take full advantage of all our schools have to offer and that our teachers are having such a positive impact on their students! ~Alexis
Our experience with MNCA has been an amazing one that will have us continuing next year. Mrs. Werner has gone above and beyond everyday to help with any struggles or questions we've had and has made this year one of the best, as my daughter also says, and she hopes that she will have more great years. Not only have we received help when needed but Mrs. Werner has made it fun, exciting, and enjoyable even when it was challenging. Everyday my daughter looks forward to Live Lesson because she loves the positivity, equal participation, and the familiar structure. We've had a great year and also recommended MNCA to many of our friends as well. I highly rate Mrs. Werner as being an outstanding teacher!
Hi Sarah, Thank you so much for leaving your review! We love hearing that teachers like Mrs. Werner are having such a positive impact on their students. We hope that you and your daughter have a great rest of the school year and enjoy your summers! ~Alexis
My Son went to brick and mortar school till 8th grade. He was bullied and mistreated and just an all around bad experience. He had trouble focusing and was distracted. That is why we chose Connections Academy on line schooling. Since joining Connections Academy he has excelled tremendously academic and with expressing himself. It has been a great experience for my son and also for my husband and myself. My son has grown and become an adult and is proud of himself as are we his parents. Thank you for this amazing experience. The teachers are the best. My sons teachers have helped him with his self esteem and growth into the wonderful person he is today.
Hi Dawn, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with our school. We never like to hear that a student was being bullied at their previous school, but are glad that we're able to offer a safe learning environment for our students. We hope that your son continues to thrive! ~Alexis
We removed our son from a public school after the at teacher called him Rudy. Our sons name is Marcus. He was referring to the movie Rudy. Bullying is bad enough when it is child on child but when it is teacher in child it is unacceptable. Our experience with Connections Academy has been amazing. Thank you!
Hi Debra, We're sorry that Marcus had such a difficult time at his previous school, but we're grateful to hear that he's doing so well here. Thank you for your review! ~Alexis
My experience has been more than amazing! My son is happy and doing so well. The teachers the school are very responsive and always help in every way needed to better the education of your child! I recommend this school to anyone that's struggling in public schools!
Thank you for your kind words! We hope that your son continues to thrive with us! ~Alexis
We love the flexibility of this school. We enjoy traveling and this allows us to do that. And where my son had been struggling in previous schools, he isn't with this school.
We're glad that you're able to travel while still completing schoolwork, Crystal! We hope that your son continues to thrive with us! ~Alexis
Connections Academy has been everything for us. We have had the best experience. We can't say enough good about it. The teachers are just awesome and so very knowledgeable. All of the staff are so helpful. The platform is easy to use. The field trips that are offered are amazing. Thank you all
Hi Robin, We're so happy to hear that you have had such a great experience at our school. Thank you for your review! ~Alexis
With my child being bullied treated poorly in public school he was so afraid of school but we found Alca and he's learning everyday and is excited about school, we love that we are able to do school at his pace and absolutely love the teachers! Best decision we ever made!
Hi Sarah, We're so relieved to hear that your student is able to complete his schoolwork in a safe environment that works for him, especially after what he experienced at his local school. ~Alexis
Learning and discipline in a safe environment. We are already in our fourth year and I do not regret choosing this program for my daughter.
Thanks for the five-star rating, Mara! We hope you have many more great years to come with us! ~Alexis
Great! Super! Awesome! A few words to describe the education and staff!
We're flattered, Amanda! Thank you for the kind words! ~Alexis
Answer: Work at your own pace is the biggest lie out there. Supplies are usually quick to arrive though.
Answer: That is a very good question Dee. We were drawn in with that promise as well. They use exampmes of child athletes and child actors (at least they did when we were going through their website looking for schooling options) as examples of how flexible their program is but we found it to be a very different experience.
Answer: Do not put your child in this program i hate it i switched to connexus i could get more time in the gym and work out i used to spend five hours in the gym in normal school but now im only limited to one hour a day because i have so much work.the teachers never respond and its horrible they dont help me and when im at gym they call then i cant i pick up so they call my parents who are at work and will get in trouble if on there phones. I hate tis school and everyone in it and your kids will to so DO NOT DO IT! 1111
Answer: Attendance is more important to the school keeping it's Charter, than making sure a student is truly on track academically. The School has no communication skills, which is why it probably attracts lazy teachers.
Answer: I find that people take the time to vent about bad experiences rather than take the time to write reviews for good experiences. If things are working, why scour the internet for reviews. Every kiddo/parent will have a different experience with Connections Academy. Like any school program, it's not going to be right for everyone, not everyone will like a teacher, or administration or class... It's a rigorous school, not a homeschool program with lots of flexibility and curriculum that can be changed. It's working for my 7th grader, but it is hard and we wouldn't be enrolled if he didn't have me to sit by him 80% of the time. Otherwise he's getting an excellent education in Oregon and we love the teachers.
Answer: Yes, you can do you your at any time. I start at 5:00am and finish at 11:00am.
Answer: Maybe once a month. The student might get a phone call from his or her homeroom teacher on a monthly basis. Other than that, unless you or the student contact the teacher individually, then the interaction is done as a whole in the Live Lesson rooms. And so much outside stuff goes on during Live Lessons, the students do not get a lot out of them.
Answer: Hi Tina, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per day), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. Outside of the LiveLesson sessions, work is done independently, and students can typically complete their schoolwork any time of the day, any day of the week. ~Alexis
Answer: Hi Malorie, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per week), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. In general, there is no set time to log in outside of the LiveLesson sessions, so students can typically work any time of the day, any day of the week. For information specific to the school(s) in your state, please email us at [email protected]. Thanks! ~Alexis
Answer: Hi Monique, Many students with special needs thrive in online school. Can you please email us at [email protected] so we can connect you with the Special Education team in your state and also provide you with additional eligibility information about the school(s) in your state? Thank you! ~Alexis

Hi Jacqueline, We're sorry to hear that you had a negative experience with the enrollment process. We tried to reach out to you privately but did not hear back. Since we are a public school, there are specific documents that we are required to collect by the state during the enrollment process. We aim to be as transparent as possible with the required documentation and the upcoming deadlines, with information being posted on all accounts as well as on the website. We will forward your feedback to our enrollment department. ~Alexis
