I bought a railcard from Railcard.co.uk. At the end of the purchase they said I could save money on my purchase by signing up to CompleteSavings.co.uk for which I would then get a welcome bonus of £20. I noticed it was a 30 day trial, after which I would be charged something like £18 a month. I thought I could get the welcome bonus and then cancel my account and it should be simple and easy, I would avoid the monthly charge, and I could trust this company because I trust the railcard company to partner with someone reputable. I was wrong about it being simple and easy and I was wrong in thinking that I could trust this company. The company offered me a monthly bonus for making a single purchase via the links on their website, therefore I would save more money on my railcard so this sounded like a good idea. Again I was wrong. I followed their instructions to the T, bought something directly from one of the links on their website, then as per their instructions I sent them a copy of my receipt to claim my monthly reward. The receipt had all the required info on it that you would expect: name of retailer, time and date of transaction, amount of transaction. They rejected it with no explanation whatsoever and they asked again for the receipt with the information that I had just provided them. I sent them various copies of the receipt both from a screen shot and from my emails. They rejected it and refused to pay me. Then they sent me an email accusing me of breaching their terms of service yet they didn't specify what terms I had broken or how. Then they said I could use all of the functions of my account but they would freeze my ability to withdraw any earnings I had made up to that point. This was a lie because my account is now blocked completely and I can't access anything on my account. Which means I can't even cancel my account. So I think they are trying to make up fake reasons to block your account so you can't cancel the trial period, then they can take monthly charges out of your account and you can't do anything about it because you can't access your account and they are now not replying to emails. So I had to cancel my bank card with my bank to stop them doing this. They also asked for a copy of my passport, a bank statement, and proof of my address. Keeping in mind that since I signed up for them I have started getting an unusually high number of scam phone calls I think they are selling my data to scammers and probably taking part in identity theft.

This is a scam and you can get reimbursed following the process below.

If you are a victim you should first write to Complete Save to request the payments are reimbursed. The customer services email address has been helpfully provided by Complete Save in other reviews on this page.

If unsuccessful, you can claim the funds back from your credit card provider. Credit card providers are legally obliged to reimburse unauthorised payments.

If the card provider resists then you can successfully escalate this to the financial ombudsman, which will ensure you are reimbursed and you may get additional compensation.

In any case, you should also report this to the police via the Action Fraud website, as I have done.
