Charter is one of the most non responsive companies I have dealt with.
I have spoken with 20 CSR reps in the last 4 days.
It takes multiple calls to get credit to an account for lost services.
Getting answers to problems are difficult to get issues escalated is impossible.
I was able to find an agent to escalate a 4 day problem, to a person that can't do anything to help.
This would not be a severe issue but we have elderly that depend on a landline in our subdivision, with internet and phones services out this makes communication critical.
There is no customer service person that can escalate problems or give a customer a way to fix things even at the corporate level.
Charter is an expensive non-service oriented company.

They come out with better plan a month after you start you current plan. They Phone always drop calls. They have horrible customer service and hold times. I would recommend going to US cellular.

I would have given no stars if it were possible. So, unfortunately Xfinity does not serve our area. My wife and I are desperately looking for an alternative. We have Spectrum Internet, and Home Phone, and we've been complaining from the beginning. First of all, when they raise the bill, instead of letting you know, they just shut your service off, then blame you for it. We argued with two guys because we wanted to pay the bill but they tried to make it seem like we were stealing service when that is impossible. Then there is an outage at least once a week, which you don't get credited for. And the other thing is, when they give you home phone service, I think they sell your information because with our experience, we didn't give our home phone number to any businesses, nor did we put it on the web, but it seems like scammers own our phone. We complained and they clearly have control over it because it stopped for about a month. (We threatened to get our service disconnected). Then it started back up. There is three scammers that continue to call and they have been making sexual advances towards my wife in a very derogatory manner leaving her very upset. We made the complaint, and they told us about another source, and we should block the number but they never use the same number twice. And you can't call them back. So if you decide to get Spectrum, just know that you are paying for the convenience of outsiders to enter your home at any time, and they don't care. It's all about money to them. As soon as I find a better service for my area, I will update everyone, and will also stay on Xfinity to service this area. We didn't have these problems with Xfinity. Also, if you guys know of a good alternative, please let me know. If you want to save yourself a head ache, please avoid these people, and they seem to target the elderly. This is all from experience, so if you get their service, just know that I did warn you.

We were mistakenly enrolled in the landline phone package with internet service. When we discovered the error we reported it to Charter. They referred us to the city government and we have never heard back.

Very criminal aspect in regards to theft. All started during hurricane ida of which I supposedly had an outstanding balance of which I paid (documented). I was suppose to receive credit for hurricane Ida, the month prior and the month after. Which I did not. I attempted to contact them in regards to cancelling and or fixing service but could not get in touch with an employee during that time of which it was documented.

Fast forward contacted them in July and started a new service. Was going to bite the bullet and pay any past due amounts. I was advised via Charter Employee that I did not have a remaining balance and if I paid so much I would restore services of which I did. Not even 13 days later they are advising me that they will disconnect the notice due to a past due amount and even if I paid for a full thirty day service and was advised that I would not get a refund and it would go to past debt if anything (screenshotted via chat) due to being a subscription services and if I received one day of services I'm not entitled to a refund. They advised I signed A waiver of rights of which I have proof I didn't.

The sad part is due to technician fault, I haven't even had service for the times they said I owe them money now. They also charged me various charges which I specifically stated I did not want and was just advised I could not cancel that service and dispute those charges because of the account is still active.

Long story short; they are the textbook of theft. They obtain money and do not provide the services they state and also charge you for extra.

In the process of a legal battle now, not for the money but just for the point of how a large company can commit an illegal act and not have any consequences.

Worst company EVER.
July 20, 2022

This is by far the worst company I've ever had to deal with. The internet service is horrific and works maybe 10% of the time if you're lucky. The customer service is even worse. There is zero communication and no one knows what they're doing. I've had so many charges that I have no idea where they are coming from. They sent something to collections that I have never heard of while my account is completely paid and I have never been late on a payment. THIS COMPANY IS HORRIBLE AND SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS. If I had other options I would 100% use them. I cannot stress enough the lack of professionalism, lack of knowledge and absolute horrific quality of service that comes with this company.

Tried for weeks to cancel tv service, keep internet. Been to the store. Returned equipment,, online, phone, for hours and hours, they keep sending me in circles, the "retention" department, etc. etc.it seems to be a method to be able to keep billing you... it is actual thievery. I have had several "confirm cancellation #s and yet the bill comes with tv. Over and over and over. Time for a lawyer.

The customer service is by far the worst I've seen since the buyout! Wait time on the phone is 35-50 minutes every time I call to fix there crappy equipment! Also, when you finally get a call back they will transfer you around until you get get lucky if you do! Sometimes I just hang up and call back another day instead of letting them play games and waste my time!

I had Charter for 10 years. I was working out of town all the time and contacted them to discuss my options. I got a reduced rate to keep a landline for my security system and gave a date I would return. When I was ready to start back up I would need new equipment from them for an upgraded service. The date got pushed back a month due to me needing more time. Instead of waiting they shipped the new equipment. I wound up going home for a short weekend and found the boxed equipment on my front steps and a contractor for Charter was putting fiber in the ground and cut my phone line. I stayed at home till the line was fixed because I needed security up and working. I lost a weeks wages. They then started billing for equipment not even installed when I was out of town. I cancelled service and took the unopened boxes to a a UPS store they recommended for equipment returns because they didn't have a store close to me. UPS opened all boxes and boxed them in a smaller box to save on shipping. I got a $350+ Bill for services when no equipment was even installed. I called customer service about this numerous times and was rudely talked to. They spun it around as my fault. I did not pay it and it is in collections. I was told billing starts when equipment goes out. I was never credited for the equipment returned, the week of no service or my time hauling hauling dirt and laying new sod to fix my yard. I was told if I had returned the equipment to them directly that they would have verified the boxes were unopened. Supposedly their computer only goes back one year so they can't verify any of this. They crushed my credit rating 3 separate times this last year. I am currently out of work, physically disabled and getting screwed by $100 billion company. I checked online reviews and I am not the only one.

Worst customer service I've ever had to deal with. I placed an order and employee got my address wrong and they never came to do my install. When called back, they had wrong address so we fixed it. Nope 10 employees and 8 hours later still no service and no address change Called on February 13 th to ask for a refund and it's February 27 th and still no refund. I've dealt with over 14 regular incompetent employees and I've asked to speak with upper upper management and still no one can seem to do their job. Then I was informed that I would not be getting a refund on the card I used for deposit, it was being loaded to a prepaid card and mailed to the wrong address. After saying how unacceptable this process was, I was informed that I should call my bank and dispute it and hung up on. I've tried contacting the Vice chairman, the vice administrator over customer service and still they have not refunded money they stole from me. I would not recommend this company for a dog house, or chicken coop. My next move is an attorney. Btw if anyone with common sense working for this company reads this, you should make it so customers can contact the President and Vice President of this company.

Just like Time Warner cable that it now owns under the spectrum brand, charter communications has always been a horrible company that wouldn't exist without regional monopolies granted by our government. Horrible customer service and support they lie about the low-cost Internet plans availability pretending they don't have them - even though they are required by law to have them, their billing and support staff are terrible, their Internet packages are overpriced, internet outages are fairly common…

Over charged me.
November 24, 2021

I canceled my service with Spectrum in the middle of their billing cycle and also cancelled the draft to pay their bills on my bank account. Consequently, they charged for the full billing cycle and also charged $25 for the cancelled draft. I refused to pay them and now they've turned my account over to a collection agency. I'll pay the bill ONLY when it's corrected and no sooner.

Fraudulent Company
October 6, 2021

Only rated a 1 star because 0 stars was not an option. I had upgraded to Spectrum TV after having Spectrum Internet for three years. My cost for the internet was $17.00, the plan was initially $14.00. After having Spectrum TV for a couple months and after several back and fourths about the inflated bill, I cancelled my Spectrum TV and payed the outrageous bill and turned my box in. Then come to find out they enrolled me in a $79.00 internet program without my permission on knowledge. Here's the fraudulent part, which is in addition to their consistent fraudulent parts, I was told, that the only way this could be fixed was to pay for the fraudulent internet service, then they could try and credit it back to me and then possibly get me back in the $17 a month plan. How stupid is that?!?! Spectrum lies about its plans, it's never what they say, there's always a catch, and if you don't catch it early enough, they will rob you blind. Never again will I ever use charter or spectrum and if anyone asks me about TV or Internet, I will tell them the same thing that I've said in this review. They should be shut down. There's no telling how much money they've cheated people out of.

I was told that I would be sent a box to send my items back and I was never sent a box and because I wasn't sent a box, they put me into collections. When I called after I got the letter, I was told that I didn't need to worry about it, they were sending out a box today and that it would not be in collections anymore and that they would cancel the collection. THEY LIED! Now I have this equipment that I have and have been trying to send back but they obviously do not want it back and I have been placed in collections for $120 that I should not owe because charter communications will not send someone out to get it nor send me a box! Horrible and will never recommend charter to anyone and will be calling and complaining! AGAIN!

Pros and Cons
July 29, 2021

Pros: Extended service to me by extending a line to my house in a rural area without charging me extra. Repairs/maintenance were also very cordial. I don't remember the service ever cutting out.

Cons: I am unsure if they made me pay my bill twice for the same month. I had my bill date edited with an overdue balance with the promise that I could pay it back any time. The next day they hired a third-party company to threaten me with cutting off my service if I didn't pay immediately. I had no choice because they were the only cable company that would service my area.
