I have done several pick ups with CT I saw some item to bid on for shipping. Won from 3 different locations ( I wish I would have been smart enough to read reviews before purchasing) one bid was $20 shipping.was $33.00 won bid was $21 shipping $34. One bid was $33. Shipping is 43. Not one of these bids weigh over 3 lbs. A simple priority mail box at $11 or USPS ground $ 7 Bucks. I cannot justify paying that kind of monies for shipping. There has be many many complaint about this you would think they would change this.

There is one in particular I want to complain about. You pick up items, never all given to you, then you ask to have it shipped, never shipped. When I purchased an item I wanted shipped she credits me 4.00 what I paid for Waterford Christmas Ornament. She sold it to someone else for more. The shipped item paid for 10 days ago, label created 3/3. Yet to be shipped. I give up. Barb Boxam, Susie Roan and Tim from Torrance only ones I will ever buy from again.

Total Waste of Time
August 11, 2024

Met with Brian from our local Caring Transitions on 6/24/24, went through the house, basements, attics and numerous out buildings to get an estimate to clean out all as the property is being sold. Was promised a quote by the end of the weekend (6/30/24). Gave him until 7/16 before calling - he would check his email as he thought it had been sent, 7/20 called again - still not received, 7/25 sent straight to voice mail - no response, 7/26 same as 7/25,8/1 straight to voice mail. Message this time stated that if he was not interested in providing me a quote, he could at least extend the courtesy of letting me know so that I could pursue other avenues. As of today, 8/11, no response or quote. Total waste of my time.

Took over a month to receive items, shipping cost was outrageous, and everything was thrown into a box carelessly. All of that hats were pancaked. Absolutely no regard for the integrity of the items sold. CTBids of Campbell, CA. Rebecca Hasbrook.

Horrible company.
October 13, 2023

Caring Transitions cost us $3000 more than what we should have spent on our move. We went with them because they said they would auction furniture we didn't want to take to our new location. We gave them items that cost us more than $15,000. We got about $600 dollars for these things. One of our items was a dining table and eight chairs we paid more 5han $4,000 for. After all the subtractions for various fees, we netted between $16 and $17 for them. The table was handmade by a skilled craftsman. They sent us a link to their supposed advertising. We could find no mention of our sale at this link. That was their advertising. In addition, they supposedly sent an email to a list. We asked for information about this list and didn't get an answer. We think they may collect people's beautiful possessions and sell them for nothing to resale stores. AVOID THIS COMPANY! They are predators.

BEWARE!
My experience with Wendy & her company was so bad that I wish I could give zero stars!
After the 2 day estate sale, she sent me a text in the evening, she said she was walking away, then kept the entire proceeds of my parents estate sale & it didn't matter we had a contract.

In this review, I broke down each day of my experience with Wendy & her staff.as you can see she was given many chances to make it right.

7/13 (Thurs)- I met Courtney P. (Wendy's daughter)& Sandy (Wendy's employee) at the house
7/14 (Friday)-her staff just started throwing items away. This is also the day her daughter Courtney P. Walked her employee Sandy out with a large yellow trash bag full of stolen items from my dad's home
7/19 (Wed)- Wendy went through all the trash her staff bagged. She found items like my dad's checkbooks (active accts), college class ring, vintage Barbie dolls, sensitive documents, cash money...just to name a few. I gave her another chance to "make it right". She guaranteed to retrain her employees & only she would have access to our home.
7/20 (Thur)-her staff filled the dumpster & it was picked up
7/21 & 7/22 (Fri & Sat) She had the sale. And her staff has not been back to finish the clean up since.
7/24 (Mon) - Wendy & her husband came in to my dad's house to pick up their equipment, & loaded his truck.
7/25- the 2nd dumpster was dropped off that evening. This was also the day she text that SHE was taking the loss & walking away.
7/26 (Wed)- Wendy called the dumpster company to CANCEL the order & the driver was there for pickup at 9am.
7/26, we went through every trash bag in the garage that Wendy & her staff was going to put in that dumpster. We found several items she guaranteed would not happen again. Just as the first bunch of trash bags we had her go through, we found prior to loading the first dumpster, we found my parents funeral/ cemetery plot documents, taxes, all with their social security numbers, retirement documents, & more checks from his active accounts. We also found more money, their wedding album & other items in those trash bags. Wendy's staff was still continuing to break her company policy & agreement with her clients, & exposing their security.

**People please know, Caring Transitions is a franchise & each office has their own owner & contract. I called the corporate office, they said they can only file a complaint, contact Wendy & her coach, but though sorry for what she is doing to us, unable to do anything else.
**Please, Find another office & avoid doing business with Wendy Calvert in the Lee's Summit Missouri location!**

We had a horrendous experience with this company, specifically the Campbell, CA franchise. Unreliable and unprofessional (late to every single meeting we scheduled), unethical (the owner actually prioritized taking her dog to the vet for a non-emergency appointment over moving my parents into their place), and unable to fulfill their commitment to us. They were 3 days late moving my 90 year-old parents into their new home, ended up walking off the job without even telling us (they simply disappeared!), and then sent me threatening and nasty messages when I refused to pay them the balance due. Regrettably, I reached out to the national company two times, filed detailed reports, was promised a return call from management, and have not heard back. Do not hire this franchise, and better yet, go with another company completely. There are so many great ones out there.

I am reviewing Caring Transitions of Central Iowa. For the most part, the decluttering went smoothly but I felt very rushed as there were three people decluttering all at the same time & most of the time, I wasn't consulted by two of the three individuals about things that should be thrown in the garbage. As you can see from one of the photos below, they advertise "staging home for resale" which includes cleaning the home, carpet cleaning, etc. As you will see from the other photos attached, there was absolutely no way my home was "staged for resale" - the front of the cupboards weren't wiped down, there were cobwebs in the lights in the kitchen, & dead bugs in the florescent lights in the kitchen. The main bathtub/shower combo still had dirty streaks on the shower walls, the grease on the stove was not cleaned off, the oven was not cleaned, there were cobwebs on the light at the bottom of the basement stairs, & there was dust on top of the lights in the bathrooms. I was charged $375 which they took out of my down payment check. I had to end up hiring another cleaning company to clean what they didn't clean & I had to pay $200 for that. When I contacted Caring Transitions about this, I was informed they didn't have time to do it. They knew I needed to get the house listed with a realtor right away but once they had their money, they didn't even try to make it right. I sent them a copy of the bill from the second cleaning company & asked them to reimburse me since they didn't do the job they were paid to do. That was one month ago today & I've heard nothing from them.

Told we had so much stuff to sell, then they botched the auction, kept $5,000 for themselves and we got $17 for 70+ years of household antiques and furniture. Then they lied to our BBB complaint and never paid us for the 40 items they resold without permission. A bunch of crooks that care about nothing except taking your money. Please read these reviews and don't be a fool to hire them like we did.

Stay away
June 29, 2023

It is unfortunate that I have to write this negative review of this business. They come across as nice, caring, helpful people but in the end they are not. My experience was painful and dishonorable to my lost loved one. They spoke of honoring her memory and carefully sorting her things. Instead, they, without consulting the family, donated, threw away, or otherwise got rid of the bulk of her estate and sorted just enough of value to cover their costs. Adding insult to injury, after informing the family that all of the inventory had been unknowingly disposed of and the sale had netted no profit at all, this firm tried to extort more money from this grieving family in the form of previously undisclosed additional fees. Shameful, unethical behaviors in my opinion. Taking advantage of people's weaknesses. Like wolves in sheep's clothing who promise joint rewards but then rob you of it all. My recommendation is don't let this company rob you too.

I just returned this evening from driving to Fort Myers to pick up the items I won in auction. When I arrived at the pick up location the franchise owners were shady as all get out. They looked at me and treated me like I was some kind of thief...I won fragile valuable items (like fine china) and when I was let into the pick up location (which is in some run down ghetto side street strip shopping building) I discovered the owners had NOT packed up ANYTHING in boxes. Everything was sitting on a table and they told me to take the stuff out to the car. I asked if they had boxes at least and they said they didn't. I asked if they have old newspaper or butcher paper so I could wrap up the fine china to protect it from breaking/damage in transit in my car and they said they didn't...Then at the end of picking up all of my stuff I simply wanted to go back in the "store" to thank them. The lowlifes had literally locked the door while I still had some items on the table where they stacked all of my stuff...The whole experience was horrible and I can only imagine how these people running the Ft. Myers franchise actually treat the familes and people that are trying to sell off their stuff...I will never ever EVER bid on another auction that the Ft Myers franchise runs...I don't trust them...The whole transaction and process of picking things up made me feel like I was at some crack dealers house and that the crack dealer (auctioneer) was paranoid of everything and certainly not willing to take responsibility for being lazy and careless, let alone creepy in how they acted and how they locked the door on me...I would give 0 stars if I could but this web page makes me choose at least 1 star...They certainly don't deserve even a 1 star rating!...****TAKE MY ADVICE, DO NOT CONDUCT BUSINESS W/ THE FT. MYERS FRANCHISE EITHER AS SOMEONE SELLING THINGS OR SOMEONE BUYING THINGS****.

Wish there was a star lower than one.
June 13, 2023

I figured out where they came up with Caring in their title. They care about how much money they are going to fleece you for when the job is done.
My contract stated there would be two workers between 3 and 6 hours. At the stated start time five workers showed up and they were expecting a sixth. My new apartment is 1000 sf. Of the five workers none were the manager I contracted with. In fact none of the five seemed to be a supervisor or leader. They all split up into different areas of the apartment and that's where each stayed for the next three hours. None seemed to have any organizing skills. They all opened boxes and put items wherever they could find room. The worst part of this unskilled and unsupervised group is I was being required to pay $75 per hour for each of them.
After they left I looked around and didn't really feel any more organized than before they arrived. I am a 83 yo, handicapped person and wanting help to get organized was extremely important to me. I found it necessary to hire a different professional organizer. This time I did my homework. I found a local organizer with very high ratings. She told me it might expedite the process if she brought one other organizer. Here's a big difference. The owner of this company is the organizer and she does the organizing. She also charges $75 per hour but her help was only $35 per hour. Her help could out work/out organize any of the previous five. They spent 3-4 hours undoing the mess that Caring Transitions left.
Everything is still not perfect but I now have a apartment I comfortable living in.

"Caring" should be deleted from their name. This is a franchise who charge for everything until you are left with nothing for your belongings. I guess it is legal, but I found them to be a total rip off, and would never recommend them for anything. You are better off donating your things to charity.

*** PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING HIRING AN ESTATE SALE COMPANY. Please read reviews before you decide. The contract stated we would be issued a check 2 weeks after the sale for the items in the live auction as well as the in-person sale and an itemized detail of the items sold.

Two weeks after the sale we received the itemized list and a check for our share of the sale. After all of this, we find out we can't even trust this man to provide an accurate accounting of what the items sold for.

My sister and niece were watching the live auction as it was taking place, so they saw what items were on the live auction and what they were selling for.

There was a large difference in price of items on the online auction compared to what was listed on the itemized list. One example includes a brass wall art, that my niece was looking to buy from the sale as she forgot to grab in on her walk through of the house. The item sold for over $400, and on the itemized list he sent he had declared it had sold for $125. When confronted, he said the item didn't meet the reserve price during the online auction so it was removed and he personally sold the item on the second day of the sale for $150. On the itemized lists it shows it sold for $125. He was misleading and sneaky when asked why there would be a difference in what we saw online compared to the itemized report. After several attempts to call and get clarification, Bruce sent an email with the following explanation (3 weeks after the sale)... "The auction report for your items is attached. The winner of the sculpture did not pay immediately because his credit card was declined. He was over his limit at the time of the auction close and that caused a delay in payment. In any case, I'm sending you a check for 75% of $407.11. This amounts to $305.33." I believe that if Bruce was not confronted on this issue, we would have never received these funds.

As business owners, our family has always strived to provide the best quality service and when we make a mistake, we do everything in our power to right our wrong. After this happened Bruce Treadway is nearly unreachable, and very evasive to our questions. We have yet to receive a full accounting of the online live auction items as requested. This has been one of the worst customer service experiences of my life and it pains me to think that others dealing with the loss of a family member, might get scammed in the same way our family has. If I had the chance to do it over again, I would STAY AWAY FROM BRUCE TREADWAY AND CARING TRANSITIONS!

We would NEVER, EVER do business with CT! They told us we had over $5,000 in goods up for auction, so how on Earth did they justify sending a check, after the fact, for a paltry sum of $250? So many questions we had and were never addressed. Rather, they ghosted us once the auctions ended, cut off all communication and then conveniently demanded that we contact their attorney! What were they hiding is exactly what we wondered and continue to do so. We are currently working on a detailed complaint with The Attorney General's Office! They screwed the wrong family and if we have anything going on here, we will prevail! DO NOT HIRE!

Estate sale
April 4, 2023

I hired caring transitions for an estate sale and clean out for our loved one who passed away very abruptly. They were very reasonably affordable, efficient, caring, thorough, and went above and beyond! Prior to meeting and hiring this amazing service. It had been two years of absolute overwhelming hell trying to get things sorted and completed and done in a timely manner. The men and women who work at caring transitions, walked hand-in-hand with me. Sorted, packed, and handled all of my deceased loved one's belonging, with love care, and appreciation. They went above and beyond to make sure my needs were met and that I was okay with the process. They eliminated so much of my stress worries and the concerns of this exhausting and complicated process, handling it with dignity, grace, and professionalism I've never experienced before. This amazing company was able to eliminate all the emotional and extremely difficult tasks that were expected of me during such a devestating time, so that I could direct my attention, to more pressing matters, and providing me the relief and peace of mind, of knowing everything was taken care of and handled efficiently and appropriately! It was a breath of fresh air to know that there are people out there that run businesses that still care about their clients and treat them as such! I will be forever grateful for this company, the employees, and all the help that they provided for me and my family during this time devastatingly challenging time. I highly recommend caring transitions! I personally intend on continuing to use them whenever needed in the future! Thank you caring transitions for everything!

Stay away from this company at all costs. They are unethical and a complete rip off. They told us they would take a credit card then demanded a personal Zelle. We asked several times for an invoice and 3 weeks later they send on with late fees. Stalker calls day and night after that to collect. We will be contacting the BBB to report the issues. We were told after the fact they are horrible and the facility the referred them will no longer.

The site is actually not that bad, the service is not bad either. The issue is the shipping, they say on the site it is costly... TRUST this portion... The shipping was almost 8 times the amount of one order and almost 4 times the amount of another order. I understand that they farm out the shipping, but when you have items that require no special packing and they still charge you and arm and leg it is really disappointing. There is profit and there is making a really large profit. Since the shipping fees are too stinking high, I will not be using this auction company anymore. If you are a local and can pick up, then this service makes sense. Otherwise, it does not make sense at all.

CT in Ann Arbor untrustworthy and unethical
February 12, 2023

AchlaK with the Ann Arbor franchise is untrustworthy and a liar. 'All sales final' is bs as I never received what I won and paid for on their auction site. Screwed we around and then refused to deliver, mocked me in the process. Never actually spoke to her; she screens calls and offers lame excuses by voice mail and email. Corporate office is no help and Roadruck backs the franchise holder's fraud with 'sorry' but no real action or transparency. See the screen shot below...even the corporate website still identifies these as items I won...but I'll never receive. AchlaK even stated that least one other person did not receive their item from this sale. Submitted reports to BBB and the MI Attorney General's office; her responses do not refute the facts of the case but suggests that I'm mean for pointing out her fraud, lies and unethical business practices. The MI AG has started a case file to record further complaints on her business conduct so I encourage anyone who has been mistreated by CT in Ann Arbor to send an online complaint to their office. It also appears from other reviews that this is not unusual conduct for her as others have referred to her as a weasel. She was suspended by the Michigan State bar since 2018; reviews suggest her unethical behavior also occurred when she was a practicing lawyer. Be wise and DO NOT trust Caring Transitions with your estate sale needs. There are lots of companies offering these services locally that I have dealt with over the years that performed perfectly. I've been involved in hundreds of online auctions and this is the first time I've ever had a problem with purchase and delivery. Attached are photos of the 'sold' items and the screen shot of the CT website which clearly indicates 'clearing out the storage unit' so the entire taking care of sensitive family business at the end of life that achlaK and CT claims is pure bs, a deception, fraud, a lie. Caring Transition of Ann Arbor deserves ZERO stars and should be avoided as achlaK is at her core dishonest and not worthy of the consumer's trust.
