A true Senior move
January 6, 2023

Lisa Schuster of Caring Transitions of chapel hill nc did a wonderful job with our move. They had a schedule to come a day before the move to pack non-essentials. They were packed nicely and labeled so the very same people would know exactly where to put things in the new apartment. We highly recommend them.

IF WE COULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN, WE'D MAKE SURE WE GAVE ENOUGH TIME TO VET THIS COMPANY-WE WERE UNDER AN ENORMOUS TIGHT TIMELINE (AND THEY KNEW IT AND CAREFULLY "GROOMED US" TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OUR PREDICAMENT! OUR HOUSE SOLD QUICKLY, SO CT COULDN'T WAIT TO GET THEIR HANDS ON OUR ESTATE! LITTLE DID WE REALIZE THIS WAS THEIR M.O., TAKING ADVANTAGE OF SENIOR CITIZENS. WE LOST MOST OF OUR 50+ YEAR ESTATE TO THEIR GREEDY HANDS. LIES, DECEIT, A HUGE SLICE OF DECEPTION AND PROBABLY MOST CRIMINAL WAS THE FACT, TO THIS DAY, 7-10-23 (WE DID BUSINESS WITH THEM IN JUNE OF 2022), WE HAVE NO IDEA WHERE MOST OF OUR "STUFF" ENDED UP. WE EVEN TOOK PHOTOS OF THEM CARTING AWAY CHERRY WOOD BOOKCASES, A BRAND NEW GAS GRILL WITH ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES, AND SO MUCH MORE WHICH WAS CONVENIENTLY COVERED SO WE WOULDN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE UP TO! WHEN THEY SAW US TAKING PICS, THEY IMMEDIATELY BECAME VERY AGITATED AND WARNED US TO STOP. WE HAVE EVIDENCE FROM BUYERS WHO ARRIVED AT OUR HOME, WHO TOLD US THEY LIKED THIS AUCTION HOUSE BECAUSE THEY COULD GET SOMETHING FOR NOTHING. WE HAVE BEEN VERY TORN AND UPSET ABOUT OUR SO-CALLED BUSINESS TRANSACTION WITH THEM! WE NEVER WOULD HAVE HIRED THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE IF WE'D KNOWN WHAT THEY WERE ALL ABOUT. AND, NEVER MIND CALLING CORPORATE-THEY ARE WORTHLESS! DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE BEFORE HIRING *ANY* ESTATE SALE COMPANY!... CERTAINLY AVOID CARING TRANSITIONS AT ALL COSTS!

House robbery
November 7, 2022

My friend hired these people to help clean out items in his house to get it ready for sale. Well they took advantage of his situation ashehad to be out of town when they finished up the auction and there were items he emphatically said they were off limits and they went ahead and sold. They even sold his bed that he needed to sleep on and the kicker was it was only 4 years old and they let it go for 25.00. When he asked for a itemized list of what sold and how much they told him they didn't have one. This is not a way to run a business. DONT HIRE THESE PEOPLE THEY ARE COMPLETE RIPOFFS.

MILLCREEK WA
October 16, 2022

This review is only for the Millcreek WA CT Bids.
My experience buying auction items with majority of CT Bids has been good. Most are great about pics and disclosing issues. Not this Millcreek franchise, so many of my items were damaged in some way or another. Now to add insult to my wallets injury is they charge an 18% buyers premium where all others are 15%. It is my opinion if you are going to charge us buyers a higher BP then we should get better results.
I can only imagine what they charged the estate, at one point there were over 6 people working (mostly standing around) for such a small space.

CARING TRANSITIONS IS NOTHING BUT A FRAUD! HA! ABOUT AS "CARING" AS A ROCK! WE DID BUSINESS WITH THEM IN JUNE OF 9-***
27-22-FRANK'S REVIEW OF CARING TRANSITIONS***THIS YEAR, 2022. **
WE ARE CONFIDENT THIS COMPANY COMMITTED FRAUD AGAINST US. OUR "STORY" IS A COMPLICATED ROADMAP, BUT SUFFICE TO SAY THE COMPANY FORCED US TO PAY FEES AFTER THE FACT WHICH WERE NOT TOLD TO US BEFORE WE BEGAN DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM... and so many more deceptive business practices! AFTER GIVING THEM ACCESS TO OUR HOME WITH MORE THAN $5,000 IN SALES, WE ENDED UP WITH A MERE $250.00. WE WERE SHOCKED TO DISCOVER SO MANY FEES, AND *CT FAILED TO EXPLAIN THEIR PRICING SYSTEM AND DID NOT GIVE US ANY OPTIONS FOR PRICING, E.G. RESERVE PRICING, ETC, DURING OUR INITIAL MEETING, SO MANY "LITTLE DETAILS" WERE NOT DIVULGED, WHICH HONESTLY WOULD HAVE GIVEN US PAUSE IN MAKING OUR DECISION TO HIRE THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE. WE ARE PLANNING TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH OUR ATTORNEY GENERAL OF MINNESOTA AND CONTACT ALPHA NEWS, THE LOCAL TV STATIONS AND MORE FOR SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES, NAMELY FRAUD. SO TAKE THAT ONE CARING TRANSITIONS-YOU MESSED WITH THE WRONG PEOPLE. YOU WILL BE HEARING FROM OUR CONTACTS SOON! WE ALSO HAVE SPOKEN WITH OUR FAMILY ATTORNEY FOR HIS LEGAL ADVICE. WHEN WE TRIED TO CONTACT CT FOR DOCUMENTS WHICH ARE VITAL TO OUR CASE, THEY REFERRED US TO THEIR LEGAL COUNSEL... SO 2 CAN PLAY THE GAME NOW! WHY WON'T YOU WORK WITH US INSTEAD OF HIDING BEHIND YOUR ATTORNEY? MAKES YA' KIND OF WONDER...

Never calls back
September 20, 2022

I received 2 'screening' call backs assuring me the 'owner' would call me back (didn't happen) and I also left 1 unreturned voicemail. 3 levels and attic of house filled with vintage, collectibles and 55 years of unique items. Time was not an issue (first call I made was early April). Only reason I can come up with is that house is located in Milwaukee - you will notice most auctions are located in suburbs. Oh well, we ended up going a different route and it is working out. Just disappointed I never got a reason they didn't want the job since they never even came to look at anything.

Total ripoff
August 31, 2022

Caring Transitions totally takes advantage of people in vulnerable situations. After their "fast sale auction", we owed them over $2200 and the house was full of items we then had to get rid of. We actually sold more furniture on our own within 2 hours then they did during their fast sale. Don't waste your money, not worth it at all.

Disappointed and deceived
August 15, 2022

I chose one star, because it did not allow me to choose zero stars. My family used this company to disburse personal items of our deceased parents. (They were highly recommended by our realtor). A home they created together for over 45+ years before they passed. Many items (like other reviews i wish I read before hiring them) were priceless to the family but realistically we understood the risk of low sale prices. We entered into the contract knowing (what we were told / what we signed) was the cost as well as the statement "in the end, we'll be giving you a check". Reality, in the end we not only received zero dollars from the estate sale (which by the way sold at a higher dollar then we were quoted for the entire cost), but ended up paying double the cost we were quoted stating "extended setup fee". This company advertises itself as "charity" and "helping you/your family transition"... The actual truth, they are a for-profit business and have no regard for you, your family members, the property or items sold / not sold. Their sole function is to turn a profit. Which at face value is not a negative opinion of them... they just need to ensure when meeting with potential clients, they advertise as such... families like mine, would have made a different choice. Additionally, on pick up day (this is for the sellers/future clients) - have an owner on site during the setup and pickup day. They will allow buyers & workers to trample mud, dirt, ding walls, etc on the inside and have zero regard for the outside of the property (driving/parking on grass) claiming "that's just how it is", "we'll broom sweep up the dirt" and "it will grow back". It was hard enough losing our parents but to watch them completely disrespect their memory was an emotion we did not expect. I know better than to hire a company without research, but they came highly recommended and we trusted them during our deepest moments of grief.

Beware!
July 23, 2022

I hired Caring transition to help me clean out my mothers home. They did a great job on the clean out but as far as letting them auction off your family's home contents it's not worth it. My parents home had some beautiful antiques and collectables and we literally made nothing on those items. I don't believe they have a good online audience. In the end they made money and I was left with an additional bill to pay them. Not cool when your doing this for a love one in a nursing home and money is needed for there care.
Below are some items from there home and here's what they sold for. Rocker-$20 antique Victorian parlor table-&25.

Drove 30 minutes to their 1-day sale and waited for 2 hours before they opened as I wanted the jewelry shown in the pictures. I was the 2nd person in line and both the girl in front of me and I didn't see the items in the pictures. Your staff said everything was there. Then, when the girl in front of me paid for the items, I noticed a line $200 jewelry written in the note pad, this is before they open at 9 am. They pre-sold the jewelry, this is false advertising. You are wasting people time and gas money. I am looking into small claim court in California to sue you guys. Such a terrible company! No wonder you have poor rating! Bad bad bad company!

This company is a total scam! They have many, many locations and if you and one franchisee owner have a problem with you they can block you from buying from all franchisees. This is crazy. I averaged spending over $10,000 a month with Caring Transitions and because of one person everyone is being punished. This doesn't seem like a way to run a company, I can see being blocked from buying from them butI don't see why they have control over everyone. Seems wrong to punish everyone. If you try and talk to the corporate office forget it! They have a call center that answer their calls and they never call you back. Most of the people that answer for the call center don't have a clue. You can talk to 3 different people and get 3 different answers. I will be spending my money elsewhere and good luck to everyone that deals with this company.

I hired Caring Transitions of Myrtle Beach, SC to empty my home and ready it for sale, as I am critically ill and had no way to return to my home. I also had no relatives who were able to assist in this process. The owner assured me of their caring and professional assistance, and gave me a monetary estimate of the costs involved, as well as the details of the process. The cost of the services were 40% commission of the total gross sales from an online auction, plus $70.00/ hour for labor, plus an estimate of $2800. To complete the process. There was to be approximately 300 items placed in the online auction. When my house sold quickly, they downsized the auction to under 200 items as they claimed there was not enough time to ready all the items. As the owner continually "blessed my heart" with her fake empathy, she took complete advantage of my situation. Many of my possessions mysteriously disappeared and I was only told that "everything sold." Although the sorting and packing of items was efficient, the overall cost was emotionally devastating and exceeded a monetary cost of almost $7,000 dollars! If you are alone, elderly and/or unwell, do not endeavor to use this company! I would not recommend Caring Transitions of Myrtle Beach to anyone!

Great experience!
March 10, 2022

I contacted Transitions in an emergency situation and they came through like "Champs"! Packed everything quickly, friendly and nicely. Moved the client into her new home and set everything up for her as well! My communication with Nan Coleman and Stephanie Proffitt was kindness, caring and just plain "Sweet"! They set up an auction that went tremendously and quickly! I could NOT have worked with two better Ladies! Thank You BOTH! Chet Olive

Thank you!
February 22, 2022

We contacted Caring Transitions to help us liquidate my mother-in-laws estate after she passed. She had an enormous home filled with many many items she and my father-in-law collected during their lifetime and we had no idea where to begin.
We contacted them, set up a consultation and it was completed within 15 days. The whole process was seamless and brought our whole family the peace we needed as we tried to process and morn our loss. I'm glad I didn't read these ratings before we made the decision to use them… I can't imagine a better scenario than what we experienced and I'm truly grateful.

This company of con artists will feast off of your grief. They "auctioned off" 2 rooms of furniture (living room and dining room) + kitchenware / rare china set, flatware, appliances (most unused and still in their original boxes) from my deceased family member for less than $80. They did not let us know when the "auction" would take place and when we called them to find out, they said it was already over - that they "were not legally required to release scheduled auction dates to us, just the public." To exploit people after the death of a loved one is ghoulish and horrifying. Please protect your family and stay as far away as possible.
