It's insane how they try to dictate the way you spend YOUR money. They will authorize transactions for more than they are and make it seem like you have less money. If something costs $200 just take the $200 not $250. For example, I had $20 starbucks charge from LAST FRIDAY that had already gone through. I went to HEB yesterday (Thursday) and spent another $20 or so based on my available balance and the fact that all the transactions had gone through. I will repeat ALL OF MY TRANSACTIONS HAD GONE THROUGH. So why do i wake up to a balance lower than I expected? Bc Capital one reordered my transactions and moved the starbucks one to the top as if i had just purchased it. Even though it was literally 7 days ago
I had been a customer of capital one for years I always thought their app was so easy to use and never had a problem. Until, I signed up for YELP another horrible company. I joined their FREE page and was under the impression I only gave my credit card to let them know I was serious if I wanted to take it further. I was only on 1 week and decided it was not for me because the free site was not doing any good unless you paid. Well I canceled and was charged $174 for nothing. I disputed this with a Capital One. They were compliant and took the charge off. Then a few weeks later it was back on because YELP disputed it that the service was rendered. I was told to get all of the information and e mail it to them. The things they required of me I did but then they wanted me to do the impossible. They wanted me to get a second opinion from another company like Yelp on a letter head that their policy wouldn't charge me according to their policy. They were setting me up to fail big time. I called another company like Yelp and asked them this and they said it was wrong off capital one to ask anyone else to get involved in this matter and that it could turn into a legal matter because I was involving a third party. I contacted an attorney for advice and they agreed. He said your own bank could get me sued by Yelp. I am a new small business owner, a single woman trying to make it and I was so taken advantage of by capital one. Needless to say I got stuck with the $174 debt Which may not be a lot to some people but it was to me. Overall it's a cruel world even by people who swear to stand by you. Oh and stay away from Yelp! Oh and they even had me under Simone else's business name and when I Tim's them it wasn't mine that's when They canceled and charged me. Attached it what capital one required
Goodbye capital one
I fell victim to an email fraud and was charged on my Capital One Venture card. I asked Capitol One to decline the charge and they refused. Worse, the Capital One agent told me even if I cancel my card, Capital One has a contract with the fraudsters to share my new card number! The agent told me the bad guys can charge my Capital One card as often as they wish, and I have no recourse. Capital One also refused to block the fraudulent merchant.
The fraudulent merchant claimed to be Costco. Capital One says "that is not fraud".
The fraudulent merchant promised to send a free reward for filling out a Costco survey, then charged $76.68 for a junk flashlight. The price was clearly shown as $0.00. Capital One says that is not fraud.
This scam has scored $5 million, mostly passing thru Capital One. Capital One is in bed with the fraudsters.
Almost a year ago, the security of my online savings account was compromised. Within a matter of minutes, a checking account was opened by unknown persons funded with money that was transferred from my savings account. A Capital One agent promptly closed the checking account and returned the money to my savings account. This is where the competence of Capital One ended.
I reached out to Capital One numerous times and was assured that my accounts were secure. I proceeded to make deposits and transfer money in and out of this account for the next 11 months.
Yesterday, I attempted to wire funds to a title company for a home purchase and it didn't work. After spending numerous hours on the phone, I was informed that Capital One had restricted access to my money and they would need 3-5 business days for "remediation" and to create new accounts prior to my funds being available to me. In short, a year after a fraud attempt, they had decided to protect my funds…from me!
Because of their improper handling of this issue I am at risk of losing my home purchase contract. If that happens, with only a month left on my lease I will be left scrambling to find housing for my family. Capital One was unable to reverse any of the steps that they had taken and could only tell me that I would need to wait and see if my funds would be available in time for my rescheduled closing. It goes without saying that I will never trust another dollar of my money to Capital One and will close all accounts with the institution as soon as I possibly can.
CapOne is the worst. From arrogant tellers to $#*!ty systems (CC and Checking Account) that do not work together, meaning you make a CC payment from your Checking account and it doesn't show up for days. NOW list, I pay my CC in full each and every month so it has nothing to do with needing money, it's simply the $#*!ty systems. Goodbye CapOne, you're terrible.
I have a business and was forced into using capital one trade center because a company I frequently buy items from switched their credit account to them. I had to call customer service to work out a problem and every single person I spoke with were some of the rudest people I have ever encountered. One of the workers was named Sonya. It was unnecessary and really made me reconsider working with our long time business partner because of it. We only had a couple of questions, it was not a conversation that should have caused any negativity.
Underhanded and unprofessional, deceptive and deceitful that's sum up Capital one, please don't make the mistake of opening a file with capital one, I may be the biggest mistake you make in your life
Capital One is a company that wants to take as much money for you as possible. I submitted a Cash Advance due to my debit card being lost. I owed some money on my account but will have the money to pay off everything before the due date but had the money in my account to cover the cash advance now. They refused to let me pay for the cash advance by itself and told me that I had to pay for every charge before it applies to the cash advance. None of this is stated when you go to process the cash advance and when you tell the reps this, they just say it is in the contract on your account. I have been a loyal customer of Capital One for 5 years and have never missed a payment. The one time they could have helped me out, they make it their main goal to take as much money from me as possible instead. Stay far away from Capital One if you are looking for a cash advance or transparency. I recommend going to a cash advance company instead. At least they will let you pay it off whenever you want.
Capital One are essentially thieves. I had a Cabela's Card from them that I inherited when Cabela's sold their business to Capital One. Over the years I have done less and less business on that card in an effort to carry less credit. Capital One decided to close my account to do in activity which is fine but, I has a $212 balance in rewards available on that account that I had never used. When I contacted Capital One they informed me that I just forfeited those points. So essentially I tipped them for them closing my account. In my eyes this should be considered theft. To Cabela's credit however, I will add that when I contacted Cabela's they immediately decided to rectify this and send me a gift card for these points. Capital One could learn something from them.
Cap-1 makes NO pretense at providing even minimal service levels & has ZERO interest in improving. NO matter the issue it is basically a waste of time to call Cap-1 & they have eliminated ALL email contact options. Only phone & written options exist & written contacts generally receive NO reply. Cap-1 phone reps are POORLY trained & have little-to-NO factual operational knowledge. We have almost $1 Mil on deposit & 1/2 million in Venture credit card travel credits but are unable to access the travel credits because the website "transfer" option to airline partners IS NOT working & HAS NOT worked for WEEKS. Cap-1 phone reps are polite but ABSOLUTELY CLUELESS about providing an option. They simply admit that they have NO knowledge of HOW to correct the problem since it is tied to Venture Travel Rewards & they cannot even access that part of the system Nor do they have "any" idea when the issue will be fixed. As a result this is yet ANOTHER issue with Cap-1 that is a total dead-end in terms of help. Who knows "if or when" the website will be functional again & Cap-1 seems TOTALLY unconcerned about the issue. HORRENDOUS service.
I have 3 cards with Capital one. I called to get assistance being out of work loss of wages for Covid and their answer was sorry the system said there are no offers. They had the nerve to advise well your accounts are all in good standings, maybe if they were late we can help. Which means they are setting me up to fail and don't care.
Capital one is horrible. They are FDIC insured but do not follow EFTA regulations and will not protect your money from fraudulent transactions and will close your account when you file a complaint. They do this to avoid paying you back. Steer clear! You'll be tied up in lawsuits against them for years trying to correct their mistakes and negligence!
I was happy with Capitol One until now. Ive had a credit card with them for a couple years now. Im currently unemployed due to relocating after the pandemic. Every month I pay off the balance to avoid any interest fees and am on a tight budget. I have my account set up so that the minimum is drawn so I don't accrue a late fee if something were to happen. Usually I go in before the payment is due to look over my account and make sure all charges are correct then I will change the amount drawn to equal the balance of the bill. This particular month I was in the mountains with poor reception and was unable to access my account. As soon as i got home, the day after my bill was due, I called to make an additional payment on my account to equal the amount due that month. Both payments were taken out of my checking account at the same time however I still received a $20 interest charge and was told there us nothing they can do about it. I expressed my hesitancy to set up my auto pay for full balance due to my fear that someone would get my credit card info and make a exuberant charge to my account. I did this to protect myself from fraudulent activity. I was told by Adele that's was the fraudulent protection was for. I asked if a large amount was taken from my credit card if they would refund my checking account. She said no it would go to my credit card. Well credit is different then cash. I thought theyd appreciate the fact i take steps to protect myself from fraudulent activity instead O am punished. Doesn't make you feel like a very valuable client. Today you suck Capitol One.
All you can ever get is an automated service that doesn't even provide you with the options you need. There is no way to be transferred to an agent either. Guess I'll just have to close the account because my card doesn't work for all things and I can't find out why.
I HAD a capital one cc years ago and ones not happy with them. I called the 1-888-5-OPT-OUT at the bottom of the letter. They ask for my social security number to stop receiving mail from them? What of crap is that. You don't need my ss number to take me off the mailing list.
I realized this wasn't really capital one, I serach up they mailing location no location, then one day I left my card up there and my debit card ppl from my card user message me saying someone trying steal $100 out my account I surely it was this website because I kept my card up there for a long time, now they charging alot me for only 2 late payments and I look closely at the papper theses people not a real bank company, I took computer class so I know, they talking about it will effect your credit but ain't it say no credit require y'all don't use this fake company I couldn't found they located of a mailing address do your research before applying for something big ole lesson for me
Made payment via web pay. For some reason check never cleared
Hold put on my credit card even though this was not my fault. Never missed payment and always paid off entire amount every month. Reissued check but they will not take hold off until check clears
Shifty customer service. Stay away from capital one
Worst customer service ever experienced! Impossible to speak with US representative!
ALL CONTACT NUMBERS ARE ROUTED OVERSEAS TO FRAUD DEPARTMENTS!
VERY AGGRAVATING TRYING TO OPEN NEW BIZ ACCOUNT AND CHECK ON OTHER ACCOUNT.
VERY OBVIOUS CAPITAL ONE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS UNIMPORTANT!
WE WILL STICK WITH US BASED AMEX EVEN THOUGH HIGHER RATES... BEEN WITH THEM LONG TIME!
Capital One's dispute dept. is a joke. I had recorded phone calls as proof of my attempts to resolve the issue with the merchant and Capital One told me they could not use them. The last straw for me was when I spoke with a fraud and dispute manager who told me (after I mentioned that I record all of my phone calls) that if I did not say aloud that I was no longer recording the call, they would disconnect. This was even after I reminded them that Capitol One's greeting states that all calls are being recorded and monitored. I will never do business with them again.
Capital One's dispute department is a joke. I had recorded phone calls as proof of my attempts to resolve the issue with the merchant (Vroom) and Capital One told me they could not use them. The last straw for me was when I spoke with a fraud and dispute manager named Shane who told me (after I mentioned that I record all of my phone calls) that if I did not say aloud that I was no longer recording the call, they would disconnect. This was even after I reminded them that Capital One's greeting states that all calls are being recorded and monitored. I will never do business with Capital One again.
Answer: No really I can't I mean from the very beginning they said they mailed it and then a week later when I called and they had not mailed it yet when I checked my bank they take the money out of my bank and then tell me they're going to hold the money for 7 days to make sure the money is there I think they take the customers for granted in a big bad way
Answer: From my experience, they appear to be nothing but a shady scam bank.
Answer: They offered nice rewards back It sounded more impressive than it is. Big mistake.
Answer: This is the same issue I'm having with Capital One. They make mistakes and then drag their feet and act like nothing is wrong.
