Capital One is great until you need to open more than one checking account. They do not issue more than one checking card because they're "green now" despite having multiple checking accounts or a joint account. To make a purchase on the joint account, you would have to call, wait 20-30 minutes for a representative, and then have them switch which account the card is linked to. For ONE purchase! You can also make the switch using the mobile app, but I have just tried and this feature is "unavailable" making my joint account useless. This is the most nonsense backwards way of making purchases using different checking accounts. I will be moving to a different bank who may be less "green" but at least they're convenient and customer-satisfaction oriented.

I have never and most likely will never negatively review a company again because I sincerely do not believe I will ever experience such atrocious treatment again.

I applied for the Capital One Venture X card, I have excellent credit and have never been denied for a card prior. I got instantly denied after clicking apply through an automatic response system. I got my reason for denial letter the next day by email. The reason stated that my credit score was too low. I looked and found that they somehow pulled my credit score 50 points lower than it was. I then called capital one to see what this was about and on this call I got berated, yelled at, and experienced sass for asking simple questions. The customer service representative then re-applied me for the card causing me to get another hard inquiry (at all three bureaus) and I got denied again all without my permission. You can imagine how furious this made me because I had another issue I had to dispute with the credit bureaus. After this fiasco, I called the credit bureau(equifax) and had them send me my credit report which in fact was 50 points higher than what capital one pulled.

After that, I found out you cannot dispute a credit issue with Capital One unless you physically send a letter which from the day you send out the letter, it takes 14 days to get a response. After sending my first letter and getting my response 14 days later they asked me for more information, which I gladly provided thinking that progress was being made. 14 days after I sent the second letter I finally got a response, what was that response? An explanation of what an inquiry is, yes you read that right over a month of arguing and communication and they grace me with the definition of what an inquiry is. Yup that is all, I am purchasing my flights next week so I just went ahead and got AmeX whom INSTANTLY approved me and gave me no credit limit, so yeah I think I'm done with Capital One.

I was just about to submit this review and quite literally during my writing of this review I got applied for the Venture X for my third time once again without my consent. Lovely Company.

Worthless
February 17, 2023

When they say no fee at the ATM there full of $#*!. Yes they offer no fees but if you have simply checking that doesn't apply it's only for 360 account customers.so if you have simply checking you're nothing but chop meat. And my closest branch is 35 miles 1 way because they shut down every branch in my immediate area. If you make the futile attempt to speak to anyone at a branch office good luck with that. Because they never pick up. Find yourself a bank that actually appreciates having you as a customer

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE…COLD PEOPLE …ROBOTIC
February 15, 2023

I was 2 1/2 hours late with a credit card payment. I called to have the $25 payment removed and they put me on hold for 27 minutes because they had to call the back office (whatever that means.)
Apparently the front office rejected it so they had to call the back office. I don't know what they look up to figure out whether they can take a late payment off your account. However, it seems as though it goes through the Secret Service highest clearance procedure…(I'm obviously being sarcastic) AN AMPETHETIC person regretted to inform me that "as of this time they are unable to remove the charge! ARE YOU KIDDING ME… I will no doubt be canceling all business accounts or anything to do with capital one. My daughter has her car payments through them. That will also end…. If you need clarification on this review.THEY ARE THE WORST…

Thank goodness, I realized it before I got entrenched in this horrible company. I opened a CD and decided the very next day, I didn't want it. I tried reaching out to them via email. Very frustrating. They don't have a normal message center like most banks to nowadays. Then I tried calling. The wait time is ridiculous. They say we will call you back if you don't want to wait. I did this twice and no one called back. Then I called in the morning and the wait time was very good, but I had to call 3 times as the phone line with each customer service person was in and out. One couldn't hear me at all. I feel that I dodged a bullet with this one.

False advertising
February 12, 2023

They offered a venture one card with a bonus of 20.000 miles if I spend $500 in the first 3 months.
I applied and was accepted in November 2022 (planning on doing Christmas shopping). Card hadn't arrived by December 23 2022 but showed as active not used on app so I called. Card was cancelled and re-issued with new number. January 27 2023 still no card so I called again. Man states that card had never been sent, made a note in file and sent card. Card finally arrived February 12 2023, I activate then call to verify that I still have the original deal of bonus miles for spending $500 within 3 months. Was informed that I only have 2 weeks to spend $500 to get bonus miles.
The bonus miles were my incentive to apply
This is clearly false advertisement and in my opinion terrible business practice.
I asked man to talk to a superior and he said that they said 2 weeks is it
If this is how they treat a new customer, what would come next if I go ahead and accept this behavior?
I had the card for 10 minutes and cut it up and cancelled account.
I will NEVER do business with Capital one!

POOR BANK
February 11, 2023

Capital one customer service said electronic transfer using their website would take one day.

Then days later, I get a posted email saying it was credited - But it was not credited and it did not apply to my account balance. And they did not subtract the payment from my account balance freeing up my credit line.

No other notification from them to notify me that I did not receive credit to my card and that my credit line was still frozen because over the limit. Even though that electronic transfer paid off the entire balance.

I Called them to clarify: now they said now it takes a week?" - really. Who's wrong the 1st rep that said a day or this one that says a week?

Then i looked on THEIR website, and it said on the last day of that week, returned check, incorrect account numbers. Said account number or/and routing wrong.

Checked it ON TD BANK AND my check book. Its all 100% correct!

I called my bank which had the funds that were going to be transferred in my checking account, and they said no attempt was ever made to transfer money out to Capital one at any time by Capital one bank or online banking or by anyone.

Then cap one said I should investigate and Said I have to go to my bank and get a letter saying there was no transfer - really? I have to...

Stay away from Capital
After all this, I told them to cancel the whole electronic transfer. I asked them If I deposit the money directly into a cap one bank, how long would it take to clear? The account supervisor at Capital one said, "only one day." But when I deposited it at their bank teller, they gave me a receipt and it said, "1-2 days! That would screw up my plans to use the card the next day on something urgent.

Stay Away from Cap One. The are an incompetent bank with a chaotic system of people that have no clue about banking, what's going on in their own bank, and extremely poor customer service, in my opinion.
=======================================================================
Credit cards: they gave me an initial 1,000 card. After a year of using it and paying perfectly, I applied for an increase. They said, no. I did not use the card enough! I don't use the card enough because it does not have the credit line I need to charge what I want!

MY advice: Do not bank with them, no matter what the rates and stay far away from their credit cards and find a normal major bank to deal with that you can trust to handle your banking and credit needs

I searched online last night for CD rates and Capital one came the best apy. So I went all the steps and filled up the form and transferred the money from my bank account. The last page was Call *******802.
So I called this morning. I was transferred three times and the last one told me she does not see my application and could not do anything. This is wonderful customer service!

I've had Capital One for years and have loved them up until yesterday. I had a line of credit which allows me to go into the negative up to a certain amount. Without warning it was stopped yesterday. I called and they stated they sent out communication but I never received it. Also, its even still advertised on their site. To get purchases declined all the sudden was not something I was expecting and they just lost my business. I'm honestly still in a bit of disbelief this even happened.

Some of the worst customer service EVER!

These cards and company are by far the most unprofessional and inconsiderate out of the bunch that I currently posses. I have been a CC customer of theirs for 4 years now and have had nothing but BAD experiences with them when dealing with CS. Lack of knowledge on products and ZERO assistance with said products. Starting with a secured card, I worked up to a Platinum card, but can't get past a $500 limit. My QuickSilver One card won't get past a $600 limit, all while having limits of $25,000+ on my other rewards cards. I had an offer to upgrade my QuickSilver One card to a QuickSilver card 4/22 so that I would no longer have the ridiculous yearly fee for what is an abomination of a valued CC. But, this offer was NOT extended to me in ANY capacity. When I arbitrarily called to see about an upgrade on my account, I was made aware of the "missed offer", made aware that they had made NO attempt to contact me about the offer (no email, text, app notification, nor letter), and made aware that CapitalOne is NOT responsible for informing their customers of any potential offers being extended and that is was MY responsibility to call in every month to check the availability as opposed to the company sending out offer letters/emails/correspondence. As well, since I did not call in last April to accept the offer I was NEVER made aware of, I no longer qualified and that I would need to call in monthly going forward to check for any other offers. I was all about promoting CaptialOne when I first started my credit repair journey, as they seemed to be a decent company. But, once I did a bit more research, had to actually interact with their customer service dept., and had experiences from different companies, it was an easy choice to put these cards away and NEVER use them again. And after this latest debacle, you can trust I will NEVER use another CapitalOne product again. With that said, I STRONGLY SUGGEST you stay away from ANY CaptialOne products if you value GOOD customer service. AMEX and Wells Fargo for the WIN!

The worst customer service ever. I've been with them since 2005 so over 17 years now and they wouldn't waive a late payment fee as a courtesy for a long time customer that has an excellent on time payment history ( I only missed my payment by 30 minutes making it at 8:30p) ridiculous

I have been a customer of Capital One (IngDirect originally) since 2004. I had their "360 Savings account". Capital One claimed it is a high interest account and rates will fluctuate based on Federal reserve interest rates.

Apparently, some years ago they started a new savings account called "360 Performance Savings" with much higher interest rates. For example, the new Performance savings has a interest rate of 3.4% as of today. While the legacy account is only at 0.3% and it stopped fluctuating with Fed rates many years ago.

So I lost a lot of money over the years as my savings account silently turned into a regular savings account and stopped being a high interest account.

They didn't inform established customers of the new Performance savings account and kept people like me at 0.3%. They should have upgraded all accounts to the new type. At a minimum, they should have informed existing customers of this new account type.

I learned about this new account type yesterday. This is clearly bad faith behavior by the bank. I am in the process of closing out my account.

I can never trust Capital One again. You should not do this to long term customers to make a few bucks.

Search online for "womens money capital one cheated high interest accounts" to find other customers that got cheated the same way.

Absolute garbage.
February 2, 2023

1. With less than 2 months' warning, the branch nearest my house was closed. The closest branch to me is now 35 minutes away.
2. I went into that branch to transfer funds from my personal checking to business checking account. I was told I needed an appointment to do so. I asked to close my accounts. I was told no one in the branch was authorized to do so without an appointment.
3. I went home and attempted to transfer funds from my personal checking to business checking account (which are linked online). The online portal told me to contact a phone number for assistance.
4. I called the phone number for assistance. The business checking team transferred me to personal checking. The personal checking team transferred me back to business checking. The business checking team then told me I had to complete the transfer online.
5. When I told them that the online portal sent me to their phone system, they put me on hold. They then returned and said the only way to handle this was... IN THE BRANCH.

Absolute garbage customer service. Zero help from anyone. Zero effort to help from anyone. A bunch of "kick the can down the curb to the next guy" nonsense. I could not recommend Capital One any LESS to someone if I was paid to do so. I've never been more dissatisfied with a company, and I am honestly highly concerned these people have my money in their system.

This company is a scam. Every time I call I talk to someone who does not understand me or what i am asking for. I will always recommend away from Capital One. Chase Sapphire, and American Express Cards are better. I will refer all family and clients away from Capital One.
