I've never used BuildZoom but I will be giving it a try after the holidays. I will be getting my basement remodeled and will be going through BuildZoom.
As someone who was completely new to home renovation projects - large or small - I really appreciated that Sydney and others at BuildZoom took the time to educate me about the many facets of construction / redesign with which I was wholly unfamiliar. They helped me stay on track while also working around my schedule and didn't rush me or push me to make decisions until I felt comfortable. When it became clear that scope of my needs were different than initially anticipated and were more than a builder alone could accommodate, they also found a designer to work with me on the aesthetic of my project. They also facilitated communication with my condo board about certain details of the contract that I didn't have the language to adequately explain. I'm really grateful for all the patience, education, and support they provided.
AD Custom Backyards does amazing patio work. We are so happy with the craftsmanship of work. Alex is great to work with. His customer service aspect is exceptional! Alex's crew are highly skilled hard workers. We had our patio covered extended, added rocks/stone to 4 poles, added automatic screen shades, and added stamped concreate all around our pool area. Our back yard looks so beautiful! We highly recommend Alex with AD Custom Backyards / Darquea Home Improvements. You will be happy with their work!

We are building an "In Law" addition to my daughters house which is an hour away. Build Zoom helped me to select an Architect (Matthias is fantastic) for the project and his selection alone saved more than the Buildzoom price. And I loved the 3D modeling used to develop the plans! Since I don't live in the area, I don't have any knowledge of builders or their reputations and this is a real strength of BuildZoom and their database. They have given me great confidence that this will be a very successful project.

Who do you turn to on a Sunday afternoon when rain drops are dripping from your bedroom ceiling? In my search for someone, anyone, I came across Brooke at Buildzoom. Though a look see revealed the source of my problem, which was repairable, it could have required more urgent attention. The job was done beautifully. We've gotten oohs and ahs when people come to visit. Kiel is intelligent, inventive and very thorough. Not only did he do a great job tiling and installing hardware, granite and grab bars, he also gifted us a few details that were not in the contract but which he felt should be done. Kiel and his helpers were prompt, cooperative and pleasant at all times.

I have tried for 3 weeks now to get the false and slanderous statements made about me and my company removed from their site! Mistakes happen, I get it, BUT after numerous emails to their "customer support" group to address my situation, I've only received their standard response of "someone will be contacting me soon", then followed up by asking if I want to sign up with them! Heck no! If I can persuade anyone to not do business with this company, I will be happy! I will follow up with legal action against them because they help support fraudulent and false information!

We have rigorous checks in place to ensure that accounts on both sides of our marketplace (contractor and property owner) are valid. For security reasons, we unfortunately cannot openly provide our method for evaluating reviews since it does open us up to a risk of having people actually trick our system into falsifying reviews, or having this information leak out to enable others to do so. We do have a process of evaluating new reviews to ensure they are real people, and I can verify that we have a high review reject rate because of it. If anything suspicious or concerning is every identified, we'll investigate it internally.
When a contractor claims their profile, they can make corrections and updates to their information in order to validify it is a real company. Additionally, contractors can dispute any reviews they receive on BuildZoom if they believe the review is falsified - they can do that after they claim their profile, log in to their account, and submit a dispute through the dispute portal. If we find that the review is illegitimate or the person doesn't respond, we will leave it off your profile. While our investigation is occurring, we will take off the review, and if the person responds, the review will be placed back on the profile. We are not in a position to validate whether it is right or wrong, we can only validate that it is a real person.
We first received your inquiry on August 21st, claiming that there are false reviews on your profile. One of our reps has been in touch with you concerning this issue multiple times throughout the few weeks your case has been open and has relayed how you are able to dispute this review on your profile. If you believe that one or more of the reviews on your profile are false, we ask that you please submit a dispute by going to your profile, clicking on edit profile -> reviews -> manage reviews. Then, look for the review(s) you would like to dispute and click the three dots. The process will entail you providing evidence that the review is, in fact invalid. Since we have reviews on our site, we must ensure that we are fair in moderating reviews and cannot take sides in this process.
I used the best roofer in town! HRM Construction LLC has exceeded my expectations tenfold. The quality of the materials & work done was FANTASTIC! The PRICE was very affordable for the materials & work done. Of the ten estimates, no one matched HRM's quality work & experience. From beginning to end, they were in touch with me, even through every step of the installation! (How many folks would do this? Amazing!). From the start, HRM gave me full details of my roof status, details of exactly what was needed. HRM even showed me each item that would be installed. I really appreciated their full responses to all my questions. Prompt cleanup too. HRM has even served as roofing subcontractors for a number of other exterior work companies. HRM is certainly the way to go! I'm really happy I picked HRM Construction LLC and now take comfort in having a new roof that was done superbly. This website allows for fake reviews, promotes incorrect information about businesses and doesn't do a very good job at performing their intended purpose. As useless and misleading as the BBB or Yelp.

I am sorry that you feel this way about BuildZoom profiles. Your claim of ""not doing a very good job at performing their intended purpose"" is unclear as of what you exactly mean. However, I'd like to try and clarify the claims in your review, beginning with the purpose of BuildZoom.
BuildZoom partners with over 2000 building departments and contractor license boards across the United States to maintain a database of almost 4 million contractors. Similarly, we receive permit data from city or county building departments, which is all public data. We pull this permit data every day to ensure we have the most updated information for all of our contractors.
BuildZoom is a place where property owners can search our database to find a local contractor, and to leave reviews regarding their experience. They can also contact our Project Consultants if they want help finding a local contractor. BuildZoom offers a premium service in which our dedicated Project Managers support property owners through the pre-hire process. This includes sourcing contractors, bid management and revision, and contract administration, amongst other premium offerings. BuildZoom only wins when contractors AND property owners win.
Reviews on BuildZoom profiles act as a way for property owners to understand more about the person they are getting into business with, and in some cases, may deter them from choosing a contractor due to consistent poor reviews. When someone goes to leave a review on BuildZoom, we always require that they provide us with contact information to ensure the validity of the review, otherwise the review will not be approved. We have a review integrity team that validates every single review that is submitted for a contractor to ensure they are not falsified and to ensure they meet our review requirements. Furthermore, if a contractor believes that a review is falsified, they can claim their BuildZoom profile and submit a dispute directly from the platform to have the review integrity team reach out to the person who left the review and conduct a further investigation. Keep in mind that submitting a dispute is 100% free and we would never require payment to submit or dispute a review. We understand the impact a bad review has on a business. As a platform that accepts reviews from the public, we can't act as arbiters or take sides. We have a responsibility to remain objective about an experience that someone is sharing about a business.
