I used blahtherapy for a while both on my computer and my phone as a listener.
I got involved with someone who seems to use this website quite a lot, and who could exactly tell my location every time. My keyboard stopped working correctly after some days. I also heard that some other listeners/ venters on blahtherapy went through the same. So please take extra-caution before using this website.
Bland,, unresponsive, uncaring individuals with superiority complex. Quite pathetic if you ask me
"how are you"
"ok"
"wanna share"
"i see"
"are you f or m"
"i'm sorry"
I think it's a fine website. The first person I talked to was super nice and reminded me of a dad. But the second person kept telling me to be sexual with them after I told them I was a minor. The third person told me to stop using the site and talked with me for awhile.
This site isn't super safe I think, some are ok, but others are kind of creepy. I don't like being hit on or asked if I'm a bottom or top. I reported them but I don't think it'll do anything.
Please don't use this site if you are a minor.
I absolutely love this site and being a listener and a lot of the reviews say the site is bad because the people are bad but thats not the sites fault i have been on this site for two years and yes every now and than there are creeps you just tell them to go f**k them selves report them and leave
I've been a listener for more than a year, talked to hundreds of people. A handful of them were pleasant, long and productive talks. I still join and listen to folks to this day.
That said, this is a tiny fraction of everything that does not go wrong with this site. The concept itself is already a flawed mess that probably does more harm than good.
Completely unmoderated, anonymous chatrooms for people in need of support and folks willing to listen? That surely won't attract trolls, virgins, incels and hateful folks. Especially not on the listener side. Right? Yeah. The amount of venters i hear complaining that the previous listener was terrible to them for the most various vile reasons is very concerning, let alone the amount of virgin, usually pajeet $#*!s looking for some pathetic sexting on a god forsaken venting website. Its just sad.
And guess what, owners also have a fair bit of paid services at your disposal. This is why they really don't give a $#*! about these very dangerous potential issues at hand, the free chatrooms are merely a bait, a placeholder for ads about their paid services.
It is truly disgusting and i hope that less people come to this cesspool seeking for help.
I do not know how they do the process of recruting listenners, but clearly anyone with bad intentions can do it. Besides the bad network ( Have been disconnected 3 times and had to restart from scratch each time), one of them actually told me "SoRrY I. My INtEr... nEeet isss Ba..." then straight out left the chat because my story was too problematic, as rude as it can get. But the absolute worst is the one that started making sexual advances while I was explaining why I suspected my mom had a mental illness. I was in such a bad place I didn't say anything at first, but he legit ended up asking me about mast******. I'd say he was subtle, but thinking about I was naive and didn't pay attention to the red flags he was showing since the beginning. My biggest mistake was to think you could actually just find strangers online and share your secrets with them.
I've been on the site a couple of times. The listeners are the key of course. If you're lucky enough to find a good listener, they'll give you good advice. I do recommend the site. I've personally benefitted from this site. Apt for anyone who wishes to anonymously (for free) and expert advice (for a fee) vent their feelings. No problem is too small. No sadness is too hard to overcome. This site is helping people. No doubt about that.
BlahTherapy is no good. They are completely unhelpful. The people on the listening end, don't listen the majority of the time. They are often very rude. Insensitive. Sometimes hateful. They really have no ability to give any responses to anything that is shared with them. They are not trained in anyway. Few people on here as listeners have good hearts but you can not find them usually. Do not wate your time. You will be drastically disappointed.
There wasn't anything genuine about the exchange I had with a "listener". They gave me super short, generic responses and then abruptly told me to just break up with my partner and disconnected. I say it's a coin flip because I am sure there are good folks out there who actually want to help. It's not worth the risk of feeling worse afterwards.
I went on this site after getting into a nasty fight with my mom and I really felt like $#*! for my behavior to the point where I couldn't focus on anything my mother can be a bit controlling and I try to be patient with her but sometimes she pushes me to my breaking. The person on the other end didn't see this through my point of view and told me that I was a disgrace and that I am "faking regret" and that I should beg for her forgiveness. Whoever that person was $#*! you thanks for making me feel worse you didn't even give me time to explain how toxic my mom is and how she always drinking and yelling and starting unnecessary fights I am not saint but I needed advice and you kicked me in the face.
A few hours back, I was really 'frustrated and angry' with something that happened quite often in my life... but thanks to a member/listener on blah therapy I finally feel like I have some perspective. It took about 3 hours, and the listener was still as kind and patient as ever. You were great, really, thanks!
I felt like I had to do something in return so I decided to do a shout out.
A wonderful site with great people doing great things.
Really, kudos to them all!
-Amanda.
The website server is always down, can't really communicate with people if the website is never working
Went to vent after a dear friend passed away. Listener told me to go kill myself. Site definitely needs a moderation system, I'm tired of trolls and demons using BT as a way to hurt others.
I went there to get help about having to exist around an old bully after years. At first all I got was bots and people asking about my gender/ age, telling me what to do. But seriously the last listener $#*!ed my mood for the day. Except from judging everything I said, trying to prove me wrong and my problem unworthy, he outright said I am an attention whore and I like to victimize myself. He was being agressive and sarcastic all the way. I only said as much as my problem in 5 words and he immediately started downplaying it. The irony is same person said how better the side used to be and that he is really sorry it has turned out way. If you ever read this, just know that you are toxic
This site was created for a good purpose, to help people. I have found that if you find a "listener" on the site that is truly willing to help you out, that its an awesome experience. I found the site while in a dark place and a listener really helped me with that. The unfortunate part is that it is available to anyone with internet access. So you will run into trolls and people that have bad intentions.
95% on this website are sociopaths, extremely immature or cowards with no life looking to pray on your misery... DONT GO THERE FOR HELP!
The site itself is very good, the developers themselfs know that random accidental disconnects do occur and made sure that there are ways to reconnect to the person you were talking to. The negative reviews are all about the people, not the site, i have many psychologicals problems myself, yet i fail to see how rude people are a problem with the site, out of my 10 chats at least 7 were positive, as the site is growing, more helpful and harmful people join, thats just how it works, give this site a fair try if you feel like you need people to talk or vent to.
Based on my experience: This site will waste your time and make you miserable in the process. It is essentially a hangout for teenage trolls and people with no life.
Please stay away for your own well-being and get real therapy elsewhere if you need it.
PS: This review is based on my experience with the anonymous "free service"; not the "paid service" with real professionals.
I found blahtherapy.com in search of a person simply to speak toa person who was unlikely to be biased, enable me or introject. I believe blahtherapy.com and its similar alternatives is a unique therapeutic modality that could bridge the divide for people who are unable to receive the assistance of a therapist or lack a listening ear.
My experience, however, was not positive. I was connected to a listener. They initially seemed O. K. when we exchanged pleasantries. In retrospect, they are unlikely to be anyone I would speak to because of how cold they seemed, but I was not of the mind to realize this. When I vented, they disconnected. I attempted blahtherapy.com once more, only to be reconnected to this person who promptly disconnected again. I now dreaded reconnection with them, compounding my preexisting anxiety, and so I closed the door altogether.
This did not affect me because, naturally, I was stable. This only made me realize that I should do something. In retrospect once again, however, after reading the critical reviews of similar Web sites, I cannot say the same on behalf of others who will use blahtherapy.com. To vent to someone only for them to disconnect, especially if they felt worthless or that they should "get over it," could leave one feeling worse.
So could having untrained, unscreened, anonymous minds who are "listening." I am not under the impression that anyone connected to the Web site was screened or that the person I was connected to was even qualified to speak to me other than by virtue of their having clicked "Listener" when choosing whether they wanted to listen or vent. People could connect to this Web site only to harass, demean, propagate inflammatory content, or intentionally make someone feel worse. The Internet is not a bed of roses.
I recommend proceeding with this and similar Web sites with caution. blahtherapy.com is a hit or miss and should not replace speaking to friends and family if they are capable listening earsor a licensed therapist. I also cannot recommend blahtherapy.com if you have difficult personal issues such as violence, grief or issues that are psychological. You are worth so much more than the distant, cold demeanor of a random pseudonymous person God knows how many miles away from you.
I have come across some very rude listeners but then some very kind and nice listeners. So BlahTherapy isn't all bad
