I am heartbroken and disgusted with Beckett card grading. I bought a rookie hockey card over twenty years ago for a several hundred dollars. I was planning on giving it to my son and I wanted to know what it was worth. My son told me that the best card grading company was Beckett.

Well it has been over three weeks that they finished grading my card and the lost it. I have called several times and asked for management without any response.

I recommend you do not use this company. The apparently do really care about the customers only about the money. I spent over $300 to certify mail it, grade it and ensure they secure return mail to result in them losing my card. (9/14/2021)

Beckett stole my card
August 17, 2021

I sent of 2 cards to be graded and only 1 card came back. I had insurance on the card but the claim was denied by FedEx because Beckett could not prove they actually shipped the card. Beckett tried saying someone from FedEx stole the card out of the box but the box was completely sealed and Untampered. Now they want to give me back $122 VS the 1000 to 1500 dollars the card is worth and was insured for. I chose Beckett over PSA because I thought they were better. I was so wrong and will never send a card to be graded with Beckett again. Be smart use PSA! I wish I would have…

Horrible.
August 14, 2021

Unless ur grading a card that has potential to be 1k++ in worth don't grade ur card here. They make empty promises on there timelines. The companies website is outdated and they are a greedy company. 3+ months is now going on 10 months. They took submissions with false narratives of timelines. I hope people realize how unprofessional and outdated this company really is.

Too many different formats and pricing options per sport that are vulgarly over priced considering most cards aren't even listed by this so-called #1 authority in sports collectibles. They wanted me to download an app totally separate from Beckett just to read a digital monthly price guide. But this was not the case when I purchased a guide several weeks ago. I also can not see this recent purchase on my Beckett account. It's almost like they have three to four different sites with different formats all interwoven together depending on what you're looking at. Still no refund. Still no price guide. Literally nothing has changed with this company in 25 years I didn't like them as a kid and I don't like them now. Is Tuff Stuff still around?

Incompetent Morons
April 24, 2021

I spent $77 to get an autographed baseball authenticated by Beckett. This was a baseball I personally purchased from the team store at the stadium for $250! The idiots at Beckett said it was "not authentic".
What a gigantic waste of money.

Inaccurate grading
April 19, 2021

The grades on cards were wildly inaccurate, much lower than they should have been. I tried another service with the same cards and felt it was much more accurate.

Sent in 100 cards on a 30-day economy and was highly satisfied on the return with the box being safely padded with bubble wrap inside styrofoam, inside a cardboard box. That was my biggest worry, but it was great to see the cards after a near 9 month wait in these COVID times. Sure, the pandemic slowed things, but luckily I did this before the price increase. Have had all great experiences with Beckett. Cards look so much better encased by BGS than those skinny ones of PSA. Props to BVG/BGS.

Called about an order according to tracking information was received back in June 2020. The earliest follow-up call I can think of was around October in regards to its whereabouts, since they don't update the information about your order until it is ready to ship after the grading process. I was told that all orders received on that date will begin in November. Called back in December again for an update when a female customer service representative goes by the script and won't take any initiative to provide a concise answer other than ambiguity (patience tested). Asked to escalate the inquiry to whomever she answers to, does not oblige provides another excuse (Due to Covid-19 blah, blah, blah) I get it, but all I wanted was some kind of assurance that they at least have my order and not with the information that I can assume for myself. I asked, "Can you at least provide what's in the order, name a card any card, so that I can be confident that you guys actually have my cards?" Again with the scripted answer accompanied by an uncaring intonation. Mind you I'm not asking them to hurry it up, I understand the amount of workload and short staff due to our current situation. At this point I ran out of patience and although it was unprofessional of me to do so I bombarded her with denigration. I do not understand why Beckett would: a) Hire a customer service representative to provide ambiguous answers to their customers. We are paying you for your service regardless of the grading outcome. B) Keep their customer service representatives in the dark without access to concise information regarding individual orders. C) Should up date the information on the customer's account when an order has been received. In fact, provide updated information as the grading process progresses e.g. (Order ******* has been received on X/X/XX, Order ******* has begun the grading process, Order ******* grading has been completed and has been shipped) something or rather. I believe this would also lessen the amount of calls in regards to people's orders. It is your responsibility to keep your customer's mind at ease since we are sending you our valuables. I suggest implementing a protocol to provide useful information to keep your customers properly informed and up to date.

Inaccurate grading
December 4, 2020

I sent some vintage cards and a few new ones to be graded. They came back way lower than reasonable. A card with great centering and edges was given a 5. Should at least be 7. Disappointing.

Having expensive things graded with Beckett is very often a bad experience. It seems that even though they've been around for so long, they do not understand the basics of how to ship expensive items. Shipping 101 is use sufficient padding and air pockets or any kind of protection to pad expensive items that can break. I know children who sell online who know this basic idea of protecting an item when shipping. But Beckett, run by a bunch of adults, does not have this concept. Oh and by the way when you receive your items back with damaged casing due to improperly protected items, they offer no compensation or anything to help mediate the inconvenience. They simply ask you to send it back with your next order. So they're pretty much saying if you give them more money then they will fix the problem. Otherwise they could care less about your problem. The representative I could tell, was not genuine and I could care less about my concern. I have received so many damaged casings from them in addition to lint and other particles or whatever getting trapped inside the case. I feel like their quality is getting lower and lower because they think that they are so safe sitting up on their high throne. Just wait till up-and-coming companies like CGC who actually ship their cards with care, come around and wipe the floor with them. Shame on Beckett for being "prestigious" Grading Company and not know the basics of shipping and customer service. The latter which can be learned by observing Amazon and how they do their business. Maybe you guys can learn something from them!

Keeps on auto renewing
September 30, 2020

I phoned last year to stop the auto renewal. Never used the service for the whole year. Today it got auto renewed again. Phoned in and they said nothing they can do because its non refundable. I told them we cancelled it last year and went online and there is no way you can even remove the information of our credit card. This is crazy. Do not even try to sign up with this guys. They are extremely arrogant and ignorant. It will be a hassle to actually dispute this now on my credit card. I should have done this last time to avoid another charge. Never give your credit card information on this guys.

Complete Ripoff
September 18, 2020

I bought their price guide online and 3/4 of my collection the price guide says N/A for the price. What's the point of a price guide if the majority of the cards are N/A. Tje money I paid is non-refundable. What a bunch of crooks.

Crooks
August 21, 2020

This company is cooked. Had an account for a while. I always had the autorenew box unchecked. Look at my bank statement and they renewed. Called the same day hours after the charge and an idiot named "Allan" said that it was non refundable. Asked to speak with a manager and said they would call me back in 2 hours. Well "Allan" is a liar much like this company. Save your money and get a more accurate card price by looking at what it sells for on ebay

The worst customer service. Literally got a call and got yelled at from a rep in the east because I sent a check in email to the wrong person. Delayed turnaround times. Do not trust what you pay for, for grading turnaround times. Wildly disappointed lately.

The customer service at this company is amazingly bad. I think I'm going to cancel my subscription to the price guide and never send another item to them to be graded or authenticated again. If you're a good customer, they don't care. And I think it's not done on purpose, it's just total incompetence on the part of the company's employees, to the core. So I think I'm going to take my business elsewhere.

Absolute joke of people working there. They love to tell other people items are false when they didn't authenticate first and then won't back up their words! They deemed a JSA Witness item not authentic even though JSA confirmed it was! Since when are they JSA experts. That's the reason they've lost all credibility with me and anyone I talk to moving forward!
