Pay for a 10.0, or don't pay and have a sub-par rating. This is no way to evaluate the quality of an attorney.

AVVO is like a gym membership that you never use. It takes your money every month and you don't get anything out of it. Not a single phone call in a year.

These people suck
June 8, 2016

Ad says pay $39 and talk to a lawyer in minutes. I get a response back that says a lawyer will call you in the time frame chosen (there was no choice for a time frame) within one business day. What a freaking scam.

I'm not one who has ever written a review over anything in general really, however, I feel a need to shed some light on other individuals who have also caught themselves in the uneasy and life altering situation of a divorce and rather uncompromised custody battle. Feeling lost at where I should even start at regaining any sense of control over me and my daughter's life, I began my search for legal guidance. I had never had any reason to search for a lawyer and had little advice on what I should be looking for. I happen to hear a radio commercial advertising a law firm and my attention was caught when I heard jenae Randall, a lawyer who represented people getting divorced and handling custody battles. At this point I had talked to a few legal representatives, but yet to feel any comfort or compassion with what I felt was the general seriousness of my case. So I called. After meeting with janae, I felt a sense of relieve. I automatically felt comfortable when speaking to janae and I really felt like she paid attention to absolutely every detail Pertaining to my case. I had found the help I was in need of. Throughout my entire case Janae was not only my legal counsel but I felt like she was The only actual who understood what I was going through. She genuinely seemed heartfelt in every action she took for me. She stayed in constant contact with me and she gave me a sense of real control and awareness throughout the rocky trials of my custody battle. Now that everything is said and done I couldn't be any more grateful for having the legal council I had. If in the future I find myself in any legal advice in any way I will be giving her a call. I would highly recommend Miss Janae Randall to anybody who finds themselves in a situation even close to mine. I could not have been happier with the choice I made. Your hard work has not gone unnoticed Miss Randall. Thank you for everything!

AVVO IS A SCAN
June 6, 2016

AVVO allows anyone, opposing counsel, opposing counsel's client, anyone but an actual client to write a bad review about an attorney.

I have had bad reviews written about me that are 100% false. AVVO will remove the bad review if you pay a subscription fee. Is it a subscription fee or a protection fee?

Wow
May 29, 2016

I'm surprised at the number of negative reviews from both potential clients and attorneys. I have used Avvo on numerous occasions to research legal issues which have come to light. For that I am thankful. I also research state law, etc concerning my issues. Because I am researching, I do feel Avvo is helpful. Yes, some attorney responses (Definitely not All) are assumptive and disrespectful. But I believe that is indicative of the Hubris which surrounds the Legal industry. There is always an area to respond to their comments.

That being said, I, as a potential client, do benefit from Avvo-as the responses help me to interpret the law- or opinion of the law. However, as an Attorney enlisting Avvo services, if I did not receive clients initiated by Avvo, I would be concerned. If an Attorney is not receiving clients, it could be due to rudeness. It also could be due to people, like me, who cannot afford more than the free consultation, and are trying to determine if they have any legal premise to spend discretionary income on a proposed injustice (of which there are many, enforceable if you have money)

I think the issue is, to whom does Avvo want to market?

Highly recommend low and low bankruptcy law offices, as I was going through a financial strive, a close friend suggested that it was in my best interest to put all my debt worries into the hands of an experienced, professional bankruptcy attorney. Therefore, I did some research online and came across a well-known, referred attorney by the name of russell low. He has up to four different offices locations in the state of new jersey for your convenience so, I decided to make that call. The experience in whole made it well worth the time and gave me a second chance to start over, from the receptionist whom made the appt to the paralegals that prepared and guided me through the whole process of filing bankruptcy. Mr. Low is definitely an exceptional lawyer. I would absolutely refer him to anyone in need. I felt at ease, reassured and informed at all times about what was going on with my case each step of the way, it was so easy, fast and in a matter of a few months I was debt free. Amazing job! Thank you and the great team behind if it all

Avvo is a Scam
May 19, 2016

I'm an attorney and I saw that Avvo created a "profile" of me without ever communicating with me. The profile had the wrong photo, misinformation about my practice and my location. Ultimately, I "claimed" the profile to correct the misinformation. Except that resulted in my receiving a flood of phone and email solicitations from Avvo. I resisted. Ultimately, someone on the phone got me on a good day and convinced me to pay for a 90-day trial where I would receive endless phone calls and new business for $99 dollars a month. I did the trial. The day after I signed up, the person who was supposed to be my contact was leaving Avvo. He was never replaced. I received one phone call in 90 days from a mentally ill person, and no cases. I can write off the $300 as advertising, but I just came from checking my credit card transactions and found that they billed me again for another (4th) month. Just checked my "profile" to find a 6.5 rating and an (855) number listed for my business. Avvo is a scam. I reported their unauthorized charge to my credit card as fraud.

I signed up to advertise in Florida and they ran my ads in Oregon. Apparently there is no oversight or quality control at AVVO.com to ensure that the ads lawyers pay for are running in the market they are seeking for advertising.

Horrible

I asked a question about my son and was verbally attacked by one of the attorneys. I went onto their chat site and was told this was normal and ok for the attorneys to do. No one should use the AVVO site.

I went thru this lawyer firm, handling an car accident, they could not handle the job, so they reefer me to another lawyer, his name is Andrew Kryder, from day one Andrew is on top of the case, investigates your case, keeps you in formed, and up dates you with any new information about your case. He sees the case thru to the end. Makes sure the client is also happy to the end.

The most useless advice on AVVO is telling people to get a lawyer. How stupid. Surely everyone has considered that option and for whatever reason, is not able to hire an attorney. As if attorneys are free. The person asking the question didn't need to go to AVVO just to hear "get a lawyer." Every time I see that in an answer, I tend to ignore that lawyer. Most questions I have seen on AVVO are not that difficult for a real lawyer to address. At the same time, many questions are so poorly written and far too complicated to want an answer from AVVO. The attorneys also seem to believe that AVVO was the first place the asker went for information. I'm sure that in many cases, AVVO is just an additional source. Lastly, I hate how the attorneys answer the questions as if the asker is a moron, incapable of learning and understanding legal concepts.

I've read far too many posts where usually a dealership or automotive business drove additional miles on a persons car without their permission. The ignorant responses from many attorneys is "without damages then you cannot sue"; however, many States have anti-joyriding laws, or anyone can simply search "joyriding laws" and the name of your State. AVVO has very little accountability for the people who post on there.

Always make sure to verify your odometer when you leave your car with a dealership or any business where you will hand them over your keys. Make sure the employee writes the correct odometer miles on your paper work, and then cross-verify this number with the odometer miles when you receive your car back. They should have not drove your car, and the odometer should be the same number of miles as when you left the vehicle with them unless you gave them permission to drive your vehicle by signing their service contract. You can also gather more proof by taking a photo of your odometer before handing over your keys by using a digital camera.

In short, feel free to ask them questions and you might get solid replies, but be wary that there are some attorneys who simply can care less when comes to making an inference about how to prevent your vehicle from being abused.

1) AVVO provides a forum for your business to be anonymously trashed, and AVVO capitalizes on this by charging you a fee to help you deal with this. AVVO does not verify reviews. Their policy is: "All reviews on Avvo.com are the responsibility of the reviewers, and under 47 USC 230, Avvo, Inc. cannot be held liable for making Avvo.com available to the reviewers." 2) Reviews are titled "Posed by a client" and are not verified. Who's to say that this is an authentic person? 3) Their dispute process is a ruse.

Dear Lawyers, DO NOT GIVE THEM A DIME! The premise of awarding a lawyer a sub par rating and the only way to a 10 is to pay them. Total scam. They will blow up the phone with rude sales clowns. Be smart! Mark their email in spam and block their calls. If you don't, you'll wish you did.

I am a lawyer who recently opened up his own practice. Within a month I was contacted by Avvo representatives telling me that they would highlight my profile on their website to potential clients searching for certain key words. They worked with me to manipulate my ranking as well. They asked me for a three-month subscription and that I needed to order it before the end of the month to take advantage of a special rate. I agreed.

I received zero leads, much less actual clients, from this investment. On top of that, the billing is recurring (should have listened to my own advice and read the contract more carefully). SO when I called on the billing day, the first of the month and said I wanted to cancel, they said my subscription would end at the end of the month. Since it was the first of the month I had already been billed and they refused to issue me a credit for a month. Thus, as a new business on a tight budget I flushed nearly $1000 down the drain on this poor excuse for a lead generator. They are happy to take your money. Beyond that Avvo is good for nothing.

I have been attempting to post a detailed, thoughtful, negative review of Odelugo & Johnson and the lawyer from that firm we hired, Rabihah Owens. After submitted a review detailing their unethical and, often times, illegal conduct (overcharging, lying repeatedly, abjectly refusing to do the work she was hired to do after charging thousands for 'prep'), avvo denied the review. I asked for clarification as to what in the review violated site terms, and this was ignored by avvo staff. I attempted 3 more times to get a response from avvo, but this isn't a real review site. This is a lawyer billboard and a website run by real $#*!s.

Misrepresentaion
March 29, 2016

AVVO made promises as to contact numbers (never reached even 1% of the numbers they represented)
AVVO promised I had a three month contract (specifically 3 months) and then tried to keep the service charges going after the third month
AVVO insisted on continuing charges claiming I had to write to cancel 30 days in advance and said it was a "digital agreement" even though I did not agree in writing to such a term
