I Found AVG As A Spy! Detected By X² Agent Security Premium.
AVG Is A Subsindary of Avast!
AVG And Avast! Sell your data (: Otherwise Why Would It Be FREE?
AVG FREE is a virus itself. Do NOT install it! It will open up a big pop-up, mid-screen so it blocks what you are doing on your computer. It makes a popup like this at least once a minute. It does NOT let you uninstall AVG FREE unless you have access to administrator. (hopefuly you know you administrator password, or it won't let you uninstall).
I got rid of it by doing a SYSTEM RESTORE.
DO NOT INSTALL AVG FREE - IT IS A VIRUS ITSELF, and VERY ANNOYING
After installing it on my win 10 laptop i restarted my pc and than my pc always crashed in the Booting / loading screen i could not even reach to login window. I Had to start my pc in the safe mode and delete AVG and after that my pc was instand fixed again
My computer had malware issues so the shop I took it to, installed a Free AVG program. When I got home, I thought I'd do better upgrading/paying for it and the site is clear 30-days, full refund to cancel. So I tried. I paid $52 including taxes for a year. Yesterday I cancelled well within my 30 days of having signed up for it and they refunded only $32. There was a $21 charge for OrderFind which my chat rep called a Tune Up and which everyone who subscribes pays for without really knowing what it's for. She kept trying to tell me that I had signed up for programs that I didn't. Back when I signed up, I clicked on 'upgrade' and that was it. Bottom line, it took half an hour today to get the confirmation for the remaining balance which I'm told I'll get in 7-10 days. My chat person hung up on me when I closed by asking 'why was this so complicated?' Maybe AVG works but you'll have it for life because you won't be able to get out of it.

Free trial works perfect and honestly, after that I haven't tried but I am more than sure it's totally cool to have the ability for such cases entirely. If you have some problems for sure post here for many other people to review them and make their own assumptions.
This company charged my deceased mother's credit card after her death on a credit card I was unaware of. I received a bill and contacted them immediately, 36 days after "purchase," and told them she was unaware of the purchase because she is dead and her computer is gone. I asked for a refund of the $75 and was told they would not refund the money because she should have notified them within 30 days, despite the fact that she was dead. I am considering legal action. There is a principle involved. Do not buy anything from this company!
So about maybe 10 years ago, i used to use avg, when it was simply a free anti-virus program. Never had any issues with it. Recently I was having some issues with windows being a bit sluggish, so I looked up avg and well now they just have a free trial and then you need to pay. Ok, i got the free trial.
Now one thing to note is my windows is on a SSD, the rest of my things are on another hard drive that was allocated into 4 parts. Avg was installed on one of these partitions. The HD as a whole was 1TB.
So i installed avg, ran it and after rebooting suddenly I'm having more issues. 3 of the 4 partitions I had were gone. I had to roll back to before I installed avg to get them back, but it didn't end there. I got rid of avg and used something else to check for malware and all that. Everything seemed ok.
This all happened about 2 months ago and ever since I've been having more issues with my HD and last night, those 3 partitions disappeared again after a reboot. I couldnt roll back, but I had it happen 1 other time last week too and rebooting fixed it. This time I rebooted 4 times and they would not come back.
So I just reset my whole pc since windows was still sluggish anyway and I completely reformatted my HD. Those 3 partitions never came back and when I looked in disk management, i was told i had some unallocated space and when I tried to allocate it, i got an error saying it doesnt exist.
So yes, I lost 500GB worth of space on my HD cause of avg. I'm convinced there was a virus they planted that another program didnt see. These guys are "anti-virus" so I'm sure they know how to put a virus on a pc without it being detected by other programs.
Do NOT trust avg. I'm lucky that I saw things were going wrong and I got an external HD to back up some of my important things. How it didnt attack my entire HD, I dont know, but hopefully that virus isnt still lingering on the remaining space I have. I did a 100% clean and reformat so, I doubt it.
My HD was 100% fine until this whole avg thing. It's garbage and I don't even want to give it 1 star. It's really 0 stars for me. It's nothing but trouble.
Avg free trial worked well. When it expired, we installed their Internet security. To our dismay, it kept reverting to the free version and told us it had expired. The new version lasted about one day before reverting. We called Avg. We were asked how many computers we have. (?) The rep tried to upsell a repair package for a computer that had no problems. He was very aggressive and would not disconnect from our computer when asked numerous times. He kept saying that this was their process. Will go back to my previous antivirus.
Reading over a lot of these reviews it feels like most people having problems are trying to get cracked copy's of AVG, for anyone who doesn't already know a cracked antivirus is not the most secure thing to have around that's like walking a rottweiler with a piece of string as a collar sure its a leash but how effective do you think its going to be when you need to keep that dog from running after someone when it jolts forwards... if your going to get a cracked program... don't get a cracked antivirus some geek out there has changed bits of the actual code so you get a free 20 dollar program you honestly think there's not a backdoor coded into it? Think again there's a very good chance there is one in it
As for the AVG Tuneup... only thing i can say to describe that is... What a Joke... it didn't use to be this crappy i remember when it first came out it actually did speed my computer up like 10-25% now... What a Joke you cant perform any actions other then analyze without buying the program... so it doesn't even give you a preview of what it can do...
Just over a year ago I purchased Ultimate Protection, AVG Internet Security, AVG Tuneup, AVG VPN and a couple of other smaller programs. In attempting to contact them I talked to several reps and not one could speak enough english for me to understand them. Finally (a supervisor? Maybe) called me back and he did help me get the program useable. They originally got my email incorrect and when I attempted to get in and make corrections, there were two accounts with two different emails. Then I called the agency that handled their billing attempting to find out the status. When I did get someone to talk to it was a technician and found out the charges
While I had AVG protection on my computer I was attacked by hackers claiming to be Microsoft. They froze the computer and told me it would be permanently disabled if I didn't correct something that they would correct for me. I figured out that it was a scam but not before I allowed them to remotely control computer for five minutes or so. I then contacted AVG as to why I was hacked when I am paying them for protection. They told me I had let the hacker into the computer so they were not responsible. They told me it would cost me $200 for them to fix some corrupted and missing microsoft files that the hackers had created. They refused to take responsibility for allowing the hackers through in the first place. Besides this, they never stop popping up with sly ads for upgrading your service designed to look like alerts that you have a problem. If you don't respond you start having virus like problems on the computer.
Works OK until you decline renewal, then you are are attacked by malware and your files are frozen, cannot save changes or copy to share. When you call "customer service" - in India, they are of NO help! DO NOT BUY AVG UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! GET WINDOWS DEFENDER FOR FREE!
They denied that i paid even after i sent them the order # and on top of that google play will not refund you either. AVG did nothing, so I am just out 19.00 or so. SUCKS. AVG for multiple devices is very difficult to manage. So make sure you go in and end the automatic renewal on goggle play or they will continue to bill you. Underhanded billing practice.
AVG used to be good... so did blackberry, another company that didn't listen to it's customers. Windows 10 very nearly sank to the depths of oblivion, but later began to Listen to their customers. Comparisons yes, but as someone once said "history has the habit of repeating it's self. Remember blackberry... or motorola big players once, but not now?
When a company makes it so difficult to cancel a subscription, you have to wonder what they are up to. How many people just give up trying and how much more money does this company make due to people's frustration?!
Thank you AVG for the many years of:
- slowing down my computer
- causing uncountable bluescreens
- automaticaly blocking and deleting unharmful programs, dowloads, etc.
- blocking too much because of your $#*!ty firewall
- your spam and numerous pop-ups
-...
They changed to a new system and by that users lost their subscriptions in their accounts, and you cant find anywhere to download the software. You need to have an agent on your computer to help you
From good to ridicules
I have never had a problem with AVG and would recommend them to my friends until now.
I reciently updated my AVG Ultimate on line from a email link with a few days to go and just after I paid recieved a pop up saying if I paid within the next 8 minutes I would recieve a big discount. I felt this was a bit un fair and decieving so I contacted customer support. My inquiry was could I have this discount implemented to my account.
Well the discount I missed out on is a very minor issue compared to the disgusting people I have delt with on customer support. These people were so rude! I went through 4 of them and they just could not wait to get me off the phone were very arrogant, patronising and one raised his voice to me. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they just flat out refused to do so, gave fake names and just could not understand English repeating what do you want.
All were Indian and I think AVG should be concerned about what this will be doing to their reputation as I am going to cancel my product licence and try another. I'm very patient and understanding and this episode has forced me to warn others.
Answer: Yes. You don't ever want to have several anti virus software running against each other. They do not compliment each other
Answer: I used avast on my first computers. It worked okay. Really type in what is the best anti virus software in google. Avast isn't in the running for my opinion. AS i've said before in another post, don't get cheep about this. There are some good deals, but you'll have to spend hours doing the research.
