I am private, paid $100 for top ad, my car is lowest price #60 of #62. You sort from cheapest first and mine appears last. I am going to CNN with this Autotrader site. I inquiry and all they want is more money. All I want is a refund. You'd think CEO's would see this type of note, but it's some lower employee who does not have the authority to make a small issue go away. DON'T USE THIS SITE! It is heavily towards dealers and their needs, propaganda, etc.
I paid for AD 3 month ago I didn't get any call. Each time I called the Autotrader to see what is happening they want to sell me extra options, Do not use Autotrader, It looks it is serving dealers instead of individual sellers.
Spent $100.00 putting my vehicle on their site, and NEVER received one call. The MORE you pay, the MORE exposure you are supposed to receive. What a WASTE OF MONEY!
Don't waste you time getting an online quote for your vehicle, from Auto Trader. It's a bait and switch scam the dealerships run with Auto Trader. I've seen several other reviewers with the same experiance.
I received a quote, called the dealership (Southwest Kia in Rockwall) and was assured it was a solid cash offer. My description of the vehicle was very accurate. The dealership came up with a list of minor cosmetic issues (I could have fixed them myself for less than $200) and told me their offer was $3500 less than the online quote. What a scam!
What a waste of time. I got an online offer for my car and went to their local dealer to complete the deal and they offered me 1/4 of what the online offer was. I was insulted. I did not misrepresent the car.
I will make sure everyone I know hears about autotrader and Ben Davis chevy and what a scam this deal turned out to be.
This is a reputable site and great resource for vehicle searches, trade-ins, etc. Plus, I love that the original dukes of hazard have a commercial out for them. Awesome.
I listed my truck on autotrader after reading what a great audience they had and all the reviews that they publish about how effective selling automobiles on their site would be. After having my truck listed on their site for 3 weeks, I decided to put an ad on Craigslist for free (auto trader's ad cost me $60). On the Auto Trader site, my truck was showing up in results hundreds of times, but I only had one person look at my contact info. I received one text message asking if my truck was the eco boost and that was it. Which makes me think that their reports are a big fat lie! Within 3 days of listing my truck on Craigslist, I had a buyer that was interested in my truck. He came and bought it the next weekend.
I requested a refund from Autotrader, but because my truck sold, even though they had nothing to do with the sale, I was not entitled to a refund. My advice if you are selling a car would be to list on Craigslist for free, save yourself the hassle of being scammed by Auto Trader.
I try to use this autotrader.com a very largest online car selling website for getting best car for me. This website is providing easy tool to find every car that we likes. So this is very helpful to buying a car. So if anyone looking online site to buy a car they can make use of this service.
They charged us twice for our ad and then took several days to get a credit. We heard from no one but scammers! We would NEVER recommend Autotrader to anyone and would NEVER use them again!
Autotrader used to be the best way to sell a car. I have used them in the past. Now they take your money and let you put 3 pictures in for there lowest rate. What you don't realize it when your ad runs, you don't see the pictures. Ads that have pictures show how many and a camera icon so when the average person sees your ad, they know there are pictures to look at. They don't even put a thumb nail picture in the listings so people can see your ad. Without pictures, your ad is usless.
Rock solid site for used car search. Think the interface could be improved a bit but generally it's a good way to find whats available in your market. Haven't bought from here yet but I'm a big used car guy so think I'll use it next time I'm on the hunt for some new wheels.
Following is message I just sent them:
I will dispute with my credit card company any payment to you.
Just went on to check my listing and found it wasn't there!
Never was.
Checked and received this email September 26 "Order Confirmation Thank you for advertising on AutoTrader.com.Ad runYour ad will run until: September 25,2012".
No wonder I haven't gotten any calls. Very crooked!
Found a good car at a good price, and meet some nice people doing it.
Found the car of my dreams on here. Easy to navigate site, and great info. Like being able to search within proximity to my zip code. Only negative is to better filter the spam listings.
Easy to narrow down search for specific vehicles, and comparison tool comes in handy. Downside is that you are forced to log in to input specific search criteria. I would not mind having to log in to get contact information, but not if what I am looking for isn't even listed.
Auto Trader - Auto trader is self-proclaimed to be the largest online car selling and trading website. From what I have seen I don't doubt them. Being specific for cars only it allows the web site to have allot more material and information only related to cars. Although you can't find the variety of cars and vehicles that you can find on E-bay motors or Craigslist.com, it does have much more comprehensive search parameters. You can search and compare multiple make/models at a time in conjunction with a zip code finder to maximize local results. You can also choose the distance in miles to search from your area code and you can also set a minimum and maximum price range you wish to search for. As advertised on their recent television commercials, for many listings they provide a 360° picture view of the car along with a short test drive video. Again there are user submitted reviews to help the decision process. Unlike E-bay motors, Autotrader.com does not have any form of comprehensive insurance against fraud or other potential losses, however the website does seem to be linked and integrated with a GEICO insurance link which will give you free quotes and 24/7 online service. Autotrader.com also has a large section devoted to new cars as well. These however are mostly posted by local car dealerships and unless there are blowout sales, you can't expect the great price breaks and savings usually associated with on-line car shopping.
An interesting addition that Autotrader.com has recently made is the inclusion of an auto show window. If you scroll down the home page you will find a dialogue box with links to information about all sorts of concept cars and upcoming cars, along with a full list of all the auto shows in your area.
For those looking to buy a classic car or anything built earlier than 1981, Autotrader.com has a sister site called collectorcartrader.com with a very comprehensive selection of classic cars, hot rods, and muscle cars.
