The site would work if you did one thing: Get rid of the Starbucks ads. First of all, it is advertising a product debut that happened 18 months ago. Secondly, it is an autoplay video which sucks up all of the bandwidth and won't allow the actual content to load. Is this good for Answers? No!. Is it good for Starbucks? No! All it does is piss people off about Starbucks and leaves, pardon the expression, a bad taste in our mouths. DUMP STARBUCKS!
I entered and never returned - not from ads nor hanging but from a virus that sent my system into Pink-Screen (Not Blue Screen) death. See you in court, answers.com. And thanks sitejabber.com.
I can't believe Google even indexes this site. From a usability standpoint, it's literally worthless. With the amount of Ads they shove in your face and the poorly optimized slideshow/content, it can take upwards of 20 minutes to try to make your way through a simple slideshow, even at 35mbps down. I don't understand how this is allowed to exist.
That said, I sort of understand why they do it like this; to get more ad views/clicks, they require a page load for each slide. It's kinda shady, and a terrible user experience -- Especially the way it was coded. I avoid this site like the plague.
Was just on this website and it wouldn't load fast at all. Mainly because there were litteraly 20+ ads on 1 page. Sinse the owners aren't sufficed with 20 ads they make you click through more than 5 pages of junk to read the story.
Absolutely terrible site. Loads so slow I just give up and go somewhere else.
Not much to say really, just a total money spinner, no intention of providing any sort of useful content, just as many advertising refreshes per user visit as possible to get their revenue up. Site runs like an absolute dog too, no idea how they manage it on modern browsers with the recent boom in browser frameworks and JavaScript performance.
They should be shot.
It's absolutely useless, slow loading, freeze-up piece! Not worth the frustration. Avoid it like the plague! Does not deserve even one star!
I am so frustrated with this website... everytime! It just screws with my computer and I can't stand clicking and waiting and the freezing up. You have some interesting topics but I can never make it past 2 clicks! It is a mess!
Your website is awful! I can't look at anything in a timely manner. Your website has some interesting topics but your website is horrible, awful, the worst.
If you thought it was slow... now is slower, with triple the autoplay ads and the annoying voice of the starbucks ad... There are interesting topics sometimes and I try to have the infinite patience that this site required, but never pass from the second page.
Runs slow and boggs down. Too many auto ADS
Dont use till they fix
Anoterh gripe is constantly seeing "will make your jaw drop" ads
I never seen anyone's jaw drop... why do thye say this.?. It's a lie!
More like "eyes roll"... geesh
I finally understand why answers.com is set up that way. The comments make it clear that you don't need to make more than one or two visits to find that the site is garbage. But some people are new to it and neglect to read that little "answers.com" at the bottom of that interesting link on yahoo. That's how they keep getting money. Keep clicking out of curiosity until you get sick of it and make lots of money for someone while you do it. It is there strictly for profit, since the only thing working is the ads.
Since it's not possible to complain directly to them and it wouldn't matter if you could, i am now making use of the little "x" that appears in the upper right corner of the yahoo link. Just hover in that area and it will appear. It's a way of rejecting the article, and it actually asks why you no longer want to see anything else like it.
Frustration drove me to go through every article offered on yahoo's home page, pick out the ones from answers.com, click "other" as a reason, and type in why i don't like it, mentioning very specifically that it's because it's answers.com. I'd suggest that the rest of you (except those astro-turfing 5-star raters, who apparently work for answers) do the same. It will take far less of your time than trying to get to fact #3 about doris roberts by clicking for the 12th time to get fragments of the one caption that goes with that one picture.
One more thing: the people who buy ad space on this site are apparently willing to waste their money on something they've not taken the trouble to investigate. There's a lot of stupidity involved in that collaboration.
I think they have great possibilities as a website. I called them at their office below
6665 Delmar Blvd, Suite 300
Saint Louis, Missouri, USA
Tel: *******010
*******@answers.com
And told them they had major problems and should look at this website for feedback. They tried to ask if it was a specific page. I said it was anything ever I tried to view 10 amazing facts, 10 things you don't want to know (I made that up) I said it would be much better if they loaded the pictures for instance on 1 page and you could page down to see better than the eons it takes to load. It take so long my google wants to close the program. Maybe the next best thing to do its to contact their advertisers and tell them how much you hate their site just the fact that their ad is loading and playing over and over makes you want to never drink the Starbucks coffee again. This is my opinion.
Terrible website, layout is appalling, far to many adverts that slow the page down, and far to many things to click which refresh the page to find out a answer, which also bombards you with MORE adverts.
Wouldn't even attempt using this website for anything, you'll find the answer for whatever you want on a much more reliable website so don't waste your time with this one
Why does this site kill my internet experience? They have interesting things, but all of the garbage makes it absolutely horrible and not worth the aggravation.
So here i am scrolling along Facebook on my lunch break and I see "(insert some title that interests you here)" I say oh wow I wonder if this article is going to answer my questions about life, love and the pursuit of happiness but then it turns into a crash course for disaster! Before you know it commercials are singing at you and you've clicked threw 23 and 1/2 pages only to realize... They got you. They put a pic or headline you like to only mention that topic once on one page out of 717... Why spread info you can easily fit on one page over 6 pages! And stop with all the ads it's awful! I went threw 17 pages to then not be able to move on due to ads! Now I'm pissed and I still don't know what the most iconic restaurant in my state is!
Yes, this website makes me feel like my computer is constipated and can't move... anywhere! So many darn ads that it's guaranteed to freeze up. I hate when I see a very interesting article on Facebook only to soon realize that it's something posted to Answers.com... stupidest website design/management ever!
Get rid of the overlapping "Starbucks" commercials, it so distracting to hear three"Starbucks" Commercials out of sequence with each other.:-( I'd like to see your site just go away!
Worst site ever. Any time I see it I avoid it like a disease. It loads incredibly slow. The "answers" are spread out across dozens of pages, even when there are only a half dozen "answers." Each page is riddled with ads. The onformation you want takes several minutes to obtain when most of their content could be absorbed in less than two minutes of it were on a single page or even a couple of pages. I'd love to see a hacker destroy their site. Also their designers can die in a fire. One star... only because zero isn't an option.
Answer: Same I dint get an awnser
Answer: The content is meaningless fluff, so don't worry about reading any articles from Answers.com as their site has anything but answers. It's a clicklbait site designed to draw the curious in and lock their computers so they stare at the ads waiting indeterminable amounts of time for the next slide to load. Stay away, it's a trap.
