The company has established a reputation for reliable first-tier customer service, with many customers appreciating the initial support they receive. However, significant concerns arise when issues require escalation, often leading to delays and a lack of follow-up communication. Customers have expressed frustration over loan denials despite strong financial profiles, as well as dissatisfaction with handling overdraft fees. While some positive feedback highlights the overall experience, the recurring themes of inadequate support during complex situations and poor communication suggest a need for improvement in their customer service approach and operational transparency.

This company is a complete disgrace. I applied for their card for an emergency medical procedure and confirmed I'd receive it in time — they lied. They made me send personal photos of my passport, bank info, even my mortgage, then went silent. After approval, they suddenly changed the delivery time from 7–10 days to 14–21 with no warning.
Their reps were rude, arrogant, and downright condescending — one even scolded me for not applying earlier, during a medical crisis. No managers, no accountability, no real customer service. They only cared about pushing me to open a bank account — once they got that, they vanished.
I feel completely deceived and taken advantage of. Do not trust this company. They are manipulative, unprofessional, and predatory.
I have been a member since 2016 and used to sing the praises of Alliant, but have noticed the last few times something needed escalation it seems to go to a void and die, to the point that I'm now opening an account elsewhere. The most recent example was after some fraudulent activity occurred, all my account numbers were changed and a new expedited debit card was to be generated.
After four days, nothing appeared on the site about a new card so I called again, the lady I spoke to said she could see the notes about an expedited card with no fee, so she sent it on to the team that was to handle that and I would have an email by the end of the day with tracking info. It's now the next day and nothing.
Their first-tier customer service is generally a good experience, but anytime something needs to be escalated beyond them it seems to fall into a black hole.
They let spectrum(TWC) withdrawal like 5 times and charger me for $125 worth of overdraft fees. Not much help do now my account will go to collections
Denied car loan for $12k with 1) credit score over 740 x 3 credit agencies; 2) substantial savings; 3) full time job x 5 years; 4) credit history x 7 years. My DTI calculation: 34%, well within industry standards for loan approval. Alliant DTI calculations: 80%! That calculation has us not eating. Tried contacting loan department for explanation. Blown off x 2 times with boilerplate, denial email--female agent wouldn't even speak to me on phone! Customer Service tried picking up pieces (yes, we have money in this shady institution... but not for long) by saying loan associate quoted "school loans" as root of denial. Recommendation: Find any, other financial institution to do business. Bank of America's track record, for example, is very sketchy; but BofA outshines these spinners by 300%! Not my idea of a credit union working for its members.
