I was intrigued by AdvisoryCloud, b/c after 29year in my profession, and soon to be looking for some volunteer opportunities, I thought this company may be a good opportunity for me to help out some other companies as an advisor. They initially promised that 1) they will LINK me with several companies as a potential board advisor;
2) they will schedule a personal phone call to taylor my experience write-up to reach the highest number of potential companies; and
3) that I can try this for fourteen day, with no charge, simply to get of sense of their service. All well and good! I saw many invites, etc. However, when I "joined" as an advisor to the first company, it looked as if the only way I can serve as an "advisor" is through the medium of AdvisorCloud; and not through the other company's communication system. In essence, this told me that I can only stay on as an advisor if I kept my subscription active with AdvisorCloud. What their marketing promises up front is that you will be invited to "join an advisory board." What they DID NOT say, is that you MUST keep your subscription active in order to provide the other company any advice. I was under the impression that once we joined an advisory board, we could keep the advisor board active WITHOUT THEM. NO! Sure enough! When I went to cancel my subscription during the Free Trial period, they advise that by cancelling, I would lose my seat on the Advisory Board of the company that I supposedly joined. Also when I cancelled, they did not send me a cancellation email. I just no longer had access to my account. But there was nothing on a confirmation that I WILL NOT be charged. I needed to call the company to have one of their staff members confirm that I would not be charged. (IN seeing other reviews, it seems that they might still charge folks even though they cancelled in time.) They should disclose UP FRONT, that one must subscribe in order to remain as an advisory. This smells "awfully bad" how they market. I cannot say it is fraudulent. But it is definitely disingenuous.

SCAM to take your money
November 19, 2024

This is a SCAM to take your money. I got charged for a free trial even though I cancelled before it was over.

Their free trial states "14 day free trial." All their cancellation emails said I needed to cancel on 11/18. I cancelled on that day, but they still charged me. And they refuse to refund my money. This website is nothing more than a SCAM to take your money.

Read the other reviews here... I'm not the only one.

AdvisoryCloud is in violation of FTC regulation, they are charging you and do not refund. Aggressive marketing campaign and hidden fees are in they T&C. Do not schedule a free trial, you will be charge and they will not refund you. They also have a full department to argue if you report them as fraud. Stay away, be safe!

Deceptive Practices and Poor Customer Service
August 21, 2024

I signed up for Advisory Cloud's free trial expecting a no-strings-attached opportunity to test their services. However, I was shocked to discover a $300 charge on my account after canceling my subscription within the trial period. This is a clear violation of their stated terms and conditions.

When I contacted customer service to dispute the charge, their response was both disappointing and unethical. They refused to refund my money and offered a measly three months of free service as compensation. This is completely unacceptable, especially considering the unauthorized charge.

To make matters worse, Advisory Cloud has been relentless in sending me unsolicited emails, despite my repeated attempts to unsubscribe. This constant bombardment is not only annoying but also a violation of my privacy.

I strongly advise anyone considering Advisory Cloud to think twice. Their deceptive business practices and disregard for customer satisfaction make them a company to avoid.

I joined the network because I was told there were numerous associated medical device companies. After joining, only found 3 and only 1 is worthy.
I receive numerous emails from Chris Beaver letting me know that companies have sent invitations to me, however, none are on my dashboard. I wrote back to Chris 3 times asking for clarification. He has never responded. Most of the people are looking for free advice or charity funding.
I spent over $1500 and it has been a waste of my time and money. I feel scammed and even more disappointed by the lack of or rather no customer service response.

Deceptive Practice
April 18, 2024

I enrolled in a 14-day free trial that clearly states it ends today, 4/18. I literally had 'cancel Advisory Cloud' on today's To-Do list, but then I got a morning email from them indicating they had already charged my credit card based on the time of day I enrolled, a message that was NOT evident in the reminder email that it expired on 4/18. Can't see how I want to be involved with a company that operates this way right out of the gate.

I entered into a trial membership with AdvisoryCloud.com and, after an "Onboarding session" with Liz Avila on December 14th, I expressed my inability to evaluate and continue the trial due to year-end commitments. Despite wanting to cancel, I was assured I had until December 22nd to decide.

On the 22nd, when attempting to cancel, I discovered a discrepancy in the information provided. Although told I had until the 22nd, I had until a specific time on that day to cancel. Trixia, after a lengthy conversation, assured me that my 1-month trial would be converted to a 3-month trial, extending through February 22nd.

On January 19th, I found I was billed $195 for the membership. Support claimed I had "admitted" to failing to cancel, contradicting the understanding from my conversation with Trixia.

Throughout interactions, canceling the trial membership proved difficult, suggesting the company prioritizes revenue over transparency. Conflicting statements and an unwillingness to cancel the trial have left me frustrated and disappointed I had not researched this company adequately.

No Opportunities
December 7, 2023

So this is like a company saying "pay us for an unlimited dining experience" and then offering just hamburgers and PB&J. I would gladly pay $300 per month to get exposure & networking to advisory boards and C-Suite executives with companies that are either struggling or just average. I believe in my ability to grow those relationships and show real value to those companies. However, it's a testament to the team's ethics and business practices that not many companies are willing to take on advisors via this channel. It could be a legit business but its' not and that says something. Don't waste your time.

I wound up paying for 9 months on a quarterly basis and had to fight to get that subscription ended…I was up on three 'recommeded' boards and was only asked one question during that time, and that was on a trivial 'which do you prefer' question… I was led to believe this was a path to be able to join the BoD - but this is not that. I do not recommend this. Networking still remains my primary approach to identifying and deciding to join and be on a BoD.

Total scam
October 5, 2023

Total scam. I signed up for a trial and never completed my profile to start using the service.
On their sales call 1 week after I was able to login and check out the service first time. Their representative Rhosebelle Alegado said she will fix the issue with the trial. The company completed my profile themselves and started the trial to keep charging me. On the call with Rhosebelle Alegado she said is going to fix the trial start date issue. I canceled the account and it's been terrible experience and they refused to issue the refund. Their sales technique seems very scammy so I declined the paid version on our call however they still charged CC

Not worth the expense
August 16, 2023

Advisory Cloud claims to give you access to companies seeking advisors, but for $195 a month, you're bound to one company. If you want to advise for more, you need to upgrade to the premium plan for thousands of dollars. There's also not enough activity on the platform to generate discussion or engagement. The company I joined as an advisor never connected with me. It feels like a ploy for folks who want to add company listings to their LinkedIn and not much else.

Lyndsey was extremely helpful to me trying to get clarification on a number of details, after re-joining Advisory Cloud.I needed information about a number of different topics and she was able to provide answers about most of them and called me back with something she had to contact another area to clarify. Great service and very knowledgeable.

These guys are a scam. It all is fraudulent, so Cancel your credit card if you signed up.
They were a useless app and saw they charged my card the day I signed up to ensure I had a valid credit card. Total phishing scam.

Bottom feeder.
July 14, 2023

This is not fun. Advisory Cloud does not assist you in any meaningful way to match you with deserving organizations. And then, there are too many organizations that are terribly defined, lacking in resource, guidance, or strategy. The matchmaking is awful, inaccurate and leaves the advisor, the payer, without much results. Don't waste your time and money.

I signed up hoping to build my network for a free trial, but after it expired I noticed that most of the interactions were stale (not sure if they were even ever valid), and the opportunities was limited to the same ones over an over again. Save your money. Avoid this farce.

It sounds great, but in practice they are worthless. I believe this company is a scam. I didn't realize they were still charging me $285 a quarter. When I requested a refund they refused.

Set up a free 1-week trial to play around on the platform and see if it'd be valuable for me. I had a couple major issues with the platform:

(1) Value—I'm a strategy consultant in the health tech space, so was looking for startups aligned with my expertise. While there were a couple, they were obviously unfundable / not well thought out business concepts (i.e., not even salvageable without pivoting to a new idea altogether). Several non healthcare startups reached out to invite me to sit on their board, which would make zero sense given they operate in markets I know next to nothing about. Overall, left with a feeling that there's not a ton of real value exchange going on here.

(2) Ethics of the company—I cancelled my trial subscription on the 7th day, but was a mere hour or two after the exact time I initiated the trial 7 days prior. I was shocked to see a $195 charge go through for one month of additional access. After explaining the situation, customer service and a supervisor both declined to offer a refund. This business truly operates in bad faith and I can't fathom what kind of leaders, team, and culture prey on consumers (this was a personal, not business expense for me) to eke out some extra subscription revenue. Disgusting professional behavior that I would tell any of my network to avoid on principle, beyond the fact that the value of the platform itself is low.

Tried the free trial and found there were only 3 companies seeking board members or advisors and yet they charge $100s of dollars to become a member but very little opportunity once you do. The idea was interesting but clearly companies aren't coming to them looking for advisors or board members. Save your time!
