The company's reputation is significantly marred by numerous customer complaints regarding deceptive sales practices and inadequate customer service. Many customers report being lured in by low prices, only to face upselling tactics and the delivery of grey-market products lacking proper warranties. Issues with returns and support further exacerbate dissatisfaction, with several customers experiencing delays and unresponsive service. While a few positive sentiments exist regarding product availability, the overwhelming trend indicates a lack of trust and serious concerns about the company's business ethics, suggesting potential improvements in transparency and customer engagement are urgently needed.

Phenomenal customer service, and very pleasant staff! Came across their website one day, contacted them and they were able to help me quickly make a selection, for my needs. Also prices are very low!
Abe's of Maine Great 0% finance easy. They call you. Very friendly folks. Good products NEW. They even let you know if you ordered something that does not go together even by mistake you clicked the wrong one. Nice people. AND I have been buying camera gears on and off for the last 5-6 years here at Abe's of Maine. Every time when I need something I can almost certain that I can get the best deal from here. Happy customer returns. I am buying a new camera system this time and I expect the same very happy experience as well.
To make a long story short, I used to take photography in school. It has been years and wanted to start it up again. I came across their website, contacted them and they were able to help me out with how to work the latest technology on todays cameras. I am back in the flow and loving it!
The camera was advertised at 3549$ I ended up paying 3799 $ after canceling about 10 times. Do not buy from these people they should be prosecuted. The state Attorney should look into there sales and advertising practice. But in NEW Jersey don't hold your breath.
I just purchased a new LG OLED TV from Abe's of Maine after carefully researching the best buying source, based on service, price, and delivery. They were a pleasure to deal with. Their price was the lowest available, and they delivered my new TV to me on time as promised.
This is not my first purchase from Abe's of Maine, as a number of years ago, I purchased my previous Samsung TV, along with a great camera, from them...
With the same excellent results!
I would gladly recommend them to anyone. My buying experience with them was excellent in every way... Low Price... Excellent Service... On Time Delivery.

This place used to be good 10 years ago but now it seems the are just SCAMMERS. I compared prices and did research for a month before buying a 4k tv and went to their site multiple times because I bought there before. After 30 days or so I decided to go all in and buy a top of the line 4k. I ordered it Friday night and waited for a shipping confirmation. 2 days later I got an email stating call Jeff to confirm order so I called immediately. Well Jeff the SCAMMER told me my TV was an oversized box and I needed to pay $288 extra for insurance? There goes their FREE SHIPPING claim that they use to draw you to their site. I told him absolutely not paying it. That didn't even seem to phase him? He just moved on to tell me the model I bought was discontinued and he could sell me the latest model for the same price. What this FOOL didn't know was I did my research and the model he was going to try and give me was GARBAGE and I could get it $500 cheaper elsewhere! THANKS BUT NO THANKS CLOWN. So I cancelled my order and called my credit card company immediately and warned them of these FRAUDS. My recommendation is STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS!
Ordered two cameras. Both were listed as "new" and in stock. Created an account and paid for them. Received an email that my purchase was complete. So far everything looked great. Next morning I received a call from Abe's. I was immediately asked what battery I wanted to buy. I asked if the cameras were new in the original box with the factory included items. Answer was that the cameras were new but not in the box. If I wanted that it would cost more. Then I was given prices for the cameras in original box as offered by the manufacture. Over $100 more than advertised on the Abes website. Fortunately they never ran my credit card and when I asked to cancel the order I immediately received the cancellation email and they hung up on me - nice.
I would not trust this company at all.
Expect Extra Charges of $288 or more! I ordered a 65" OLED65C7P for $2,339 which I thought was a good deal. It was at least $250 less than I could have bought it locally. However, when they called this evening to inform me of the $288 I would be charged for shipping insurance I was shocked to say the least. Then to make matters worse they were going to charge me a cancellation fee because I wouldn't agree to the extra charges. I did get a call back and they offered the TV for $2,400 which is $300 below the current price, but to do business with such a shady company... I think not.
How does a company justify advertising free shipping and then call their potential customers to tell them they have to pay shipping insurance.
Buyer beware.
If it's not obvious from the below reviews, almost everything Abe's of Maine does is a lie and a scam. Starting with their name - they have nothing to do with Maine at all. I think they're in New Jersey? Stay far away, it's not worth the discount.
I ordered a 17-40 mm Canon lens on Black Friday. A day later. Received an email to contact Ted about my order. He informed me the lens I ordered was an international model not compatible with my US camera. As a professional photographer I know this not to be accurate. When I questioned the manufacturer number posted on their website, he told me it was the same number whether it was an international or USA model and proceeded to the up sell of the US model lens. Fortunately I was able to Promptly cancel my order and my credit card was not charged. Stay away from these guys. They are not the same Abes of Maine who went bankrupt in 2012.The Better Business Bureau rates them an F.
Everything about my shopping experience with Abe's of Maine has been nothing but outstanding.
I purchase my Digital SLR camera and the sales staff was extremely helpful and patient in answering all my questions. I opted for the free shipping and got my camera in 4 days and to top it off they were able to beat all the competitors prices!
Thanks Abe's, I love my camera, and I can't wait to purchase some lenses!
Thanks Abe's Of Maine,
Bait and switch company with no ethics! Stay away at all cost! This company deserves to be prosecuted for business violations and ethics. Do not patronize this company; you will be sorry for sure.
Purchased a LG OLED65C6P online. Ground shipping was free so I took it. Received a phone call next day from a rep stating now I have to pay handling and insurance fee. Otherwise the processing will be 2 weeks and they are not guaranteed to ship although there are 5 TV in stock.
I am cancelling and buying locally.
I had no issues purchasing from Abes of Maine in the past (7-10 years ago). I made some research and found that:
1) The real Abes of Maine filed for Chapter 11 back in 2012. Source: http://www.twice.com/news/retail/abe-s-maine-files-chapter-11/5073
2) The site is purchased and operated by a company hiding behind generic domain registrant PERFECT PRIVACY. Source: https://www.whois.com/whois/abesofmaine.com
3) The business is no longer registered in NJ. Can't link directly, just search by the name Abe's of Maine, the name is available for registration: https://www.njportal.com/DOR/BusinessNameSearch/Search/Availability
I just went to the store to buy a Sony 55-210mm for $189.00 and it was smooth. The item was new and I was not hassled as other reviews suggested. This is the 3rd purchase I have made from them and I will use them again
I placed my order at the end of the day 6/7/2017. The next day 6/8/2017 I called to see if they had any trouble with my order and I was told that the product I ordered is not a U. S product, so therefore I needed to buy shipping insurance. This is the second time this happens and this company does not respect the price that is listed.
This is my 3rd canon camera from abes of Maine
Thank you for the great deal and rush shipping
I got it in 2 days
I will be back
I feel I dodged a bullet by cancelling my order with Abe's. After ordering a Fuji XT2 for a very good price, I received two emails and a message. When I connected, the question was, I ordered the body only, so if I want the charger, battery, manual, etc...(basically everything in the box of a new camera) it will be another 150. Really? The guy tried to drop that price in an effort to seal the deal. In the end- no warranty either. An international version, but not noted in the item. Abe's of New Jersey- the international version comes in the same box. You are an awful company and deserve every one of the complaints you seem to amass on the internet. If I can help one person steer clear, I'd be happy. Believe me- head to a reputable retailer. You'd end up paying the same price anyway, but you won't feel scammed.
I saw an on line ad for a Fuji XPro2 Body Only for $1,349. I went on line and ordered the camera. I waited three days for a tracking number. Never got it. I called and was transferred to a salesperson. He told me I was only buying the camera body - no battery, no charger not even a lens cap. He then tried to charge me $170 for the batter and charger. I told him to just send me the camera. It's now 10 days later and I still don't have a tracking number. I e-mailed twice but no response. Everyone knows - when you buy a camera body - you are buying a boxed camera - without a lens -and that camera includes everything the manufacturer included. Abe's is doing an obvious bait and switch. Very dishonest...
Ordered some photography equipment (lens) online. I was immediately called to "verify" the purchase, and sent to a "sales person". That person informed me that the lens (which supposedly is factory new) did not come with a hood, case, or other accessories shown in the ad. Those were additional charges. I asked him to cancel my order, and got the hard sell. Again, I asked to cancel the order - nope. Finally, I asked 'Ted' if he could understand English enough to cancel my order! He transferred me to 'customer service' (now there's a joke) where I got a recording of hours of operation - they should have been open - followed by a "goodbye" and a disconnect. Tried calling the customer service number, got a line busy signal and disconnect. I finally contacted my credit card company and told them to deny the charge if they tried to put it through.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE CROOKS!
Was referred by previous customer, you had great prices and delivered on time I will be back! To order again the near future.
Answer: I agree, They get an "F" RATING from the BBB! I couldn't believe what a scam they are running there. And the salespeople yell at you when asked a question. People beware. Shop elsewhere.
