I ordered birthday flowers from 123 Flowers to be delivered on Sunday, March 15. The delivery never arrived on the chosen date. Only afterwards did I find out that the order had been sent via Royal Mail, which does not deliver to business addresses on weekends due to their internal policy.

Here is the key issue: I was never informed about this at any point during the purchase. There was no clear notice that:
The flowers would be delivered by Royal Mail
Weekend delivery to business addresses might not be possible
My selected delivery date might simply be ignored because of their logistics partner's policy

When I contacted customer service, the response was essentially that there was a "delivery retention arrangement" between the building and Royal Mail, and that I should check with the recipient. In other words, the company shifted responsibility to the customer — even though there was no way for me to know about their courier arrangements or the building's internal delivery rules beforehand.

Let's be clear: when a company offers a specific delivery date option, they are responsible for ensuring that delivery can actually happen on that date. If their courier cannot fulfill the request, that information should be clearly disclosed before the purchase is completed — not after the fact.

This experience completely undermines the purpose of ordering flowers for a birthday. The surprise was ruined, the date was missed, and the company's response showed zero accountability.

Customers deserve transparency and honesty when paying for time-sensitive gifts. Unfortunately, my experience with 123 Flowers showed the opposite.

If you're planning to order flowers for an important occasion, be aware: the delivery date you select may not mean what you think it means.
