Do store owners have to have a tax id number to set up a store if its majority of products are handcrafted items?

You don't need a tax ID number to setup a store on their website. But the government still expects you to pay your taxes. You can use your SS number if you are a sole proprietor.

If you are the sole "crafter" and owner of your product and you don't have employees on your payroll your SS# can be your taxpayer ID.
