I am incredulous that I even have to write this review as this kind of thing should never be allowed to happen.
Our pick up time from our hotel in Rhodes was at 11am on Saturday last week. We were leaving our room at 10:59am. I had just locked the door when I heard the phone ring. I ran back inside and said 'we are just about to go into the lobby for the taxi'. The receptionist said 'please come quickly, the driver is very very angry'.
Only 10 minutes earlier I had been downstairs looking for the driver. I could see a man pacing around very angrily speaking to somebody on the phone. I tried to catch his eye, however, he refused to look at me. I thought it cannot be our driver.
To note, we had been told to be in the lobby at 11am. After being delayed by the call we were in the lobby at 11:01am and by the taxi at 11:02am (the driver had not seen it necessary to wait for us in the lobby anymore at this stage, but instead was waiting outside).
Upon our arrival, the driver saw it necessary to start shouting at a single woman with their 9 year old child at the top of their voice. He pointed at his phone showing we should have been there at 11am. I said it is now 11:02am (something that his phone verified). He ranted and raved, pacing up and down the hotel yard lifting his arms up in the air. It was only when a lovely local man came to help the situation calm down that we were able to get in the car and proceed with our journey to the airport. I honestly thought that the very angry man would leave us or our luggage at the hotel. I did NOT want to travel to the airport with him, but felt obliged to do so as I did not know whether the company would reimburse us.
My son was very upset and couldn't understand why the man was being so horrible.
To note, Zip Transfers booking details say that there is a 10 minute window. I would have been on time for the transfer had it not been for the call, AND I would have come down with our bags earlier had the driver had the defence to make themselves clear in the lobby when I was looking for him 10 minutes earlier.
I have never had as bad customer service from any company in my 48 years. The driver behaved in a totally unacceptable manner and should never be allowed to carry out a role as a customer service person if this is his way of treating people. I did nothing wrong - and I would say if I had done something wrong here - I expressly tried to find him earlier and could not do so.
On top of this upon our arrival in Rhodes 5 days earlier our driver - again from Zip Transfers - was almost 30 minutes late. There were only 6 passengers on our flight so we were able to walk out almost straight away, but there was nobody to meet us. I had no issue with this, and was quite happy to wait for the driver to turn up.
To note: I have been in touch with Zip Transfers to get a refund on our journey. They have not offered me a refund but instead a 15% discount non a future trip, which is totally unacceptable. To be shouted at by a complete stranger is beyond anything that one could expect in any situation, let alone in one where we were still well within the accepted limit of a 10 minute waiting time. If the driver was so much in a hurry, why did he waste 3-4 minutes pacing in the hotel yard before we could leave? Furthermore, why did I not receive a call on my mobile to say 'would it be possible to leave 15 minutes early from the hotel', which I would have happily obliged. No, instead I had to end what was otherwise a wonderful trip with abysmal treatment by a misogynistic driver. Never again. I hope you will take my advise and not use this company.
