So ready for a long story not sure if you'll read. We don't have much but both like to go fishing. So we agreed to finance a new boat motor since that's the only way we could get one lol. We shopped around and got approved at more than one place at 0% down. Yippy! We contacted Steinbach RV and Marine and were told to speak to Blake. He did not call back so we drove in as we were excited. We asked for a price on a 30Hp Yamaha we power trim, controls/wires. No installation either. Blake quoted us $5389 plus taxes this was a really good deal so we agreed to go through them. 3 days later Marilyn the owner contacted us stating she would like $1000 cash to "hold on to" and we would get it back when we get the motor? That's dirty I would not do it. So Brent went down and agreed to do a $500 deposit on Financing so there is a paper trail. Marilyn didn't like this and stated fine to don't get it back. No financing paperwork has even been sign! I wasn't even present and I am a co applicant. When I found this out I was sick. So I emailed kristie in Financing and asked for a break down of the paperwork she was drawing up. The price has increased by $600 already! WTF! So now I call and talk to Blake whom acting like he didn't know me at first and requested he look into it as that's not he price he gave us when we originally came in and how can you just add to it without discussing it. He said fine and hung up. Brent and I now went in as nothing was happening. Blake response to us wanting to look into it was I'm scrapping the deal it's off! At that point Marilyn tells us our $500 is non refundable! This upset us a seen broke out in which Marilyn tries to back track. Now Brent is asked to wait outside while she writes a check. Fine. She writes the check then tells me she will withhold my money unless I sign a legal binding contract stating I will not write and negative reviews on social media or otherwise nor speak of my experience! I refused and cash the check which she turned around and cancelled! People should not get away with this as most you know I have been unwell and diagnosed with a long term disease so am medically retired. I did not say a word to a soul at first but now my bank is putting those fees on me as well! Share for me if you want to help this from happening again. I'm not the first to file a complaint that didn't give into bullying! Take this place down and give room for honest business owners. I go to Steinbach because I use to think the people were nicer than Winnipeg. I was wrong Marilyn dares me to open my mouth saying she was contacting her lawyer even went as far to say I don't care if your disabled.
