Better than polyester, questionable comfort
I'm trying to reduce or eliminate synthetic materials in my life. I discovered wool pillows and decided to swap out my old polyester pillow. There were warnings about wool compressing, but I was surprised how much it compacted after just one night. Thankfully I got two 16-ounce bags of wooly down so I was able to fill up my pillow. I've probably used about 24 oz for a standard pillow. It definitely seems to be a huge improvement for temperature regulation and breathing over my old polyester pillow. However I don't find the wool fill that comfortable, but it's not uncomfortable. It just seems a bit stiff after compression. I'm glad I tried it though, and I'll continue to use it for now. It just might not be the best choice for everyone.
The Ideal Pillow Solution
I like how I can use this fill to customize the firmness of my pillow and refill it when it starts to go flat. This also allows me to clean the fill and the pillow case. With other pillows, I have to throw them away if they gets dirty because it's too hard to wash it and get it fully dry. It is very comfortable and there is zero smell. To me, it is the ideal natural solution.
These pillows are amazing
These pillows are so supportive. Ever since using them, my sleep has never been better. They've gotten even better after compressing, being conformed to my head. On top of that, they sleep cool. No more flipping 5 seconds after laying my head down, like my previous pillows! Theyre definitely worth the money!
Love My Wooly Down Pillow!
I've been trying to find the perfect pillow for decades and while plenty are great when you first buy them, they go flat or hard very quickly. But my Wooly Down pillow is FANTASTIC! I absolutely love it, so comfortable and the same every night with just a little fluffing every week or so. Just ordered a second one and couldn't be happier
Good for the Neck
Had tried three different pillows from the local store trying to help morning neck pain. This one was the only one that started and has so far stayed the right thickness. Best of all, if it ever does get a little flat I can open it up and add more fill.
Just what I needed
When my Dr. told me not to use a feather pillow I was left trying to find something to replace it with. I have scoliosis and need a very flat pillow. The customizable wool pillow filled all the check marks. Not only could I remove enough stuffing to make it fit my needs but it is also made in the USA and made with materials sourced in the USA. It even came in plastic free packaging. Thank you Shepherd's dream.
Love the pillow but not the smell
The density and fabric are wonderful. I tried to sleep with the pillow but the smell is too strong for me. I called to ask how I can reduce the smell but got no return call. I don't want to return it and am glad to support this company, I just can't do the smell.

Husband loves it!
I gave this to my husband for his birthday because he needed a new pillow and I really appreciate my wooly down pillow. It took about a week for him to get used to it and adjust it a bit. He now says it is a "great pillow!"
I've had this pillow for about six months now
I've had this pillow for about six months now. I have tried various levels of stuffing. Less is not as bad as fully stuffed, but at any level it is incredibly lumpy and has not compressed enough to be comfortable. You can even see the lumpiness in the picture. Maybe if you sold carded wool stuffing it would be better. I like the idea of filling as much as you need, but it really should be processed more.

I have removed and saved 1/3 the wool and it supports without packing down either back position or side. Stayed fluffed in your own customized shape.

Even the worse pillow feels fine when it's new, so I waited until my Wooly Bolus pillows had a full year under my head before I even considered writing my review. It's been a year and change. These are the most expensive pillows I've ever bought and I can honestly say I don't regret even one cent of the cost. I have wide shoulders but am a side sleeper - a bad combo - and pillows eventually compress too much under the weight of my head. All of my previous pillows left my neck unsupported so I woke up with a sore, stiff neck. Not now! My Wooly Bolus pillows are still wonderfully fluffy yet supportive. I haven't had a strained neck all year, and I sleep like a baby. I even bought extra filling, expecting the inevitable flattening, but have not had to add any extra wool to the original amount the pillow was stuffed with. I'm completely satisfied, and I do NOT say that lightly. Do yourself a favor: buy this pillow.

I wanted to buy a pillow filled with a natural material, as I am attempting to get plastics (such as poly-filled pillows) out of my life. This pillow is excellent. I am glad I bought the customizable pillow because I found that I needed to remove some of the wool to get comfortable with it. Now I sleep wonderfully with this under my head. I thought that maybe the wool would make me too warm during the night, but I've had no problems with temperature regulation. The pillow is well constructed with high quality materials. Overall I am very pleased with it.
