I first learned of Shepherd's Dream in 1998; introduced by Patrick Holland. The quality was wonderful then. I had a wool mattress, Snuggle mate, and pillows. Since then, I have traveled extensively and lived in various places. Frequently I would order wool from the wool mill and make a mattress topper, pillows and comforter and leave them when I moved on. Happy to say that quality continues to date. The Snuggle Mate I just received is as beautiful and comfortable as I remember. Definitely made with love and care. The stitching and tufting are well done. Supportive, cooling when the environment is hot, warm when it is cool. Looking forward to, once again, enjoying the healing comfort of wool.
The 3 inch wool topper gives just the right amount of softness and padding on top of the latex base, wool mattress and wool mattress pad. No more back, hip or shoulder pain. We found the perfect combination for us.
I have a chronic cancer in my bones that gives me a lot of pain in my hips and shoulders. I started with a Stargazer sleeping pad as a topper to use on my bed at home and to take with me for when I travel with family. It has made sleep possible after years of searching for a solution. I recently purchased a Snugglemate to use as my primary topper at home. This allows me to use my Stargazer for travel. I won't pretend that these products take my pain away. However, they do make the nights more manageable for me and allow me to get some sleep.
The Topper is so comfortable. I love it.
Keeps warm in the colder temperature & cooler in the hotter weather. Breathable and VERY comfortable. Highly recommend this topper. Thick and plush.
Absolutely excellent quality and customer service. I couldn't be happier and am so grateful!
Great company and customer service and their products are truly top quality. Highly recommend
Snuggle Mate Wool Topper
My mattress is about 16 years old and has become much too firm for me. I've been shopping around for a new mattress, but good ones are out of my current price range. I've tried a couple kinds of foam toppers and they only made the situation worse.
I've seen people online speak highly of the Shepherd's Dream all wool mattress sleep system, so I decided I would look into it. I can't afford the mattress at the moment, so I figured I would start with the topper and see how it felt on my old mattress. The difference was immediately night and day. My bed is back to being quite comfortable (although I still plan on getting rid of it soon). This topper really is a dream. I plan on getting a pillow and comforter next.
We purchased a Snuggle-mate topper and a duvet for our child's dorm. It's beautifully made, super plush, cozy, and comfortable. The quality of wool is exquisite, breathable, yet warm in the most ideal way. It was delivered on time and the customer service was wonderful. We love Shepherd's Dream.
Snuggle Mate Wool Topper
I got the Snuggle Mate to top my 8-layer wool felt mattress (also from Shepherd's Dream). I love the firmness of the wool felts (which I've been sleeping on for about 10 years -- highly recommend!), but as I'm getting older, I wanted to add a bit more cushioning.
The Snuggle Mate is perfect for me! It feels cuddly and luxurious, but not suffocating or so pillowy that you sink in. I've just slept through three nights of hot weather, and it is surprisingly breathable. It's also lightweight enough that even in the Queen size, I can rotate/flip it easily by myself.
I would highly recommend this topper if you love the feel of your current mattress, but want to add a layer of gentle cushioning.
Very soft and well made. Very happy with the quality.
I bought the foam base, the wool mattress and the topper. We've been sleeping on it for several weeks and really like this combo. It is very comfortable. One thing I really like about this combo is that it is very easy to work with. I had ordered another wool mattress that turned out to be not only uncomfortable, but very difficult to work with because it was very, very heavy. It was very difficult to put fitted sheets on it, and needed to be turned regularly, which was difficult for us to accomplish. That mattress had springs, which while done differently than the old standard, still caused me to have issues with pressure points. I love that this mattress has nothing resembling a spring. Yes all the pieces need turning, flipping and occasional airing, but the individual pieces are pretty easy to maneuver, even for old people like us who don't have great strength. The turning, flipping, etc. do take some work, but it's not much and that little extra is a small price to pay for having a bed we really enjoy sleeping in.
It's been over six years since I've bought from Shepherds Dream and still love everything, including the mattress topper which is what I started out with. Then I got a winter comforter, then a summer one, then a 7" mattress, then another one, then a pillow, then another one! Everything they sell is top notch and still going strong. I air out everything as often as possible especially in the hot Idaho sun during the summer. As you can imagine with kids and pets, there some stains on it in spite of spot cleaning as soon as possible but I keep the covers on everything so you don't even know. This is money well spent and you won't regret it! If you do, send what you don't want to me and I'll put it to good use!
I absolutely love this wool mattress topper, so soft yet supportive and the comfort of knowing I'm sleeping on something made for me by real people out of real wool fiber and materials. Connect back to the real world people 💜
Thank you!
Love this mattress topper! It gives just the right amount of cushion yet allows the mattress to support nicely without my shoulders or hips being sore - yea! I also like that it is made by a small company w good customer service.
Very fluffy and comfortable adds a lot comfort to the mattress.
Well-made and super cozy! It feels so much better to be sleeping on wool rather than some sort of spongey, synthetic franken-chemicals(!)
I love the back-story of the company, how you are choosing to do business--making things by hand and with eco-consciousness... Way to be! It's wonderful to be able to air it out in the sun, have it fluff right up again... just another lovely element of working with wool and natural fabrics.
*Point of input would be means of shipping... I know you don't want to use plastic if possible, but on a rainy day, having just the topper itself in a normal cardboard box with no liner of any kind... I was fortunate that mine didn't get too wet... but I could imagine someone's being left outside by a delivery person and getting totally soaked. That would not be a good way to start.
*Also... perhaps your new website design remedies this, but I was sort of under the impression that if I paid extra for flat rate shipping, maybe that would expedite the whole thing? So as long as folks know that paying extra for flat rate shipping does not speed up the making of the item... I did not understand that they are made as the orders came in, rather than having some of standard sizes in stock, etc.
***That said, it's an excellent topper created in an artisanal way! Kudos to you and highly recommended!
Again, Many Thanks!

Our wool topper arrived a day after we'd been hard at work on a friend's farm. The gentle support it gave our sore muscles was just right. Also it was summer and we often sleep with windows open as night falls to save on a/c bills. The topper certainly kept us from heating up like when we slept directly on our foam mattress. Now that fall's coming on it keeps us warm even as the nighttime temperature is getting cooler.
