Rolling and locking mechanism underperforming, Warranty is not being honored
Have had success with ordering from Select Blinds in the past but these shades and the company's failure to honor the warranty and measurement insurance have me looking for another company for affordable window treatments.
Shade Quality: The shades I received in my recent order were of exceptionally lower quality than other blinds I've ordered in the past. The core is cardboard rather than aluminum, so shades >~40" have issues with sagging in the middle. The spring mechanism for the cordless lift style is difficult to adjust, either retracting the shade with too much force, causing the bottom of the shade to slam into the window frame on its way up, or with too little force so that the shade does not retract completely. Finally, the fabric itself is prone to getting smudges or stains from dirt or oil from hands, that does not come out with spot cleaning and leaves water marks on the fabric.
Warranty/"Insure Measurement:" I ordered two narrow shades of ~25" wide, which were cut slightly too wide for the windows (approx 1/8" too wide based on the information a rep gave me on how the shades should be cut based on the measurements of the window. Due to this incorrect cut, the shades were extremely difficult to install, without enough room to set the pin in one bracket and depress to set the other end of the shade in its bracket. The higher friction causes issues with the shade rotating freely in the bracket when raising and lowering, as well as "locking" into the lowered position. After submitting multiple warranty claims, customer service representatives keep telling me I need to tighten the spring, or take photos of the shade width and length, or that the photos I have taken of the width and length are not taking correctly, each time denying my claim and leaving me no method of appealing the decision. This requires me to start completely from scratch. Each claim takes approximately 2-4 weeks to receive a response and I am currently about 9 weeks into having new shades cut to the correct size.
My previous experience with Select Blinds has been stellar and I have had no issues with the blinds, but this particular style has left me very disappointed and the customer service response to my warranty claims has me looking for a different company for window treatments in the future.
White is not white
I ordered white shades and they are not even close to being white. They are yellow and awful. Not at all how they were shown online. I didn’t order a sample first which was a big mistake but didn’t make expect the color to be so off the mark. I called customer support twice and they said there was nothing they could do unless the sample didn’t match what was produced. The pictures showing the white shades do not even come close to what was delivered. So upsetting.
Awesome shades for the price
These shades are beautiful and expensive looking when hung. We absolutely love them and they are 1/3 of the price of a very expensive competitor!
Exceeded Expectations
We were looking for simple, yet effective roller shades for a Medical Clinic we are currently rebuilding. This Clinic is such an integral part of our community for those that cannot afford Medical/Dental Care. We wanted something that allowed for natural light, but would protect the privacy of the patients, and this product did just that.
We measured our window openings, and I ordered that size, and they worked perfectly. The price is also such a win, especially when working on Benevolence projects, where every single penny counts. We will definitely be ordering these same shades for Phase 3 of this project.
Very nice roller shades, and a great price
I am very happy with my roller shades. They let just the right amount of light through, while being opaque enough for privacy from very close neighbors. The chain roller system is also very smooth and unobtrusive. There's very minor room for improvement in that the installation instructions assume that your window header is level and square with the jack studs, but in an old house, that's not always the case. A little customization on my part was necessary, but now they look great. I'd also like it if the weighted insert at the very bottom of the shade was long enough that it didn't shift to one side in its pocket, but again, that's very minor. Overall I am very happy: they are a terrific value, relatively easy to install, and look great. I would buy these again.
Use your own screws
The shade is perfect, except for the included worthless screws that had poor indention- not enough for screwdriver to bite and advance the screws.
Great Value, Installation Challenging
These roller shades are a great value and look very nice when all is said and done. That being said, the installation was not as cut and dry as we had hoped. Several of the shades (9 out of 13) were "telescoping", which required us to take the shade down, completely unroll it and roll it back up, and install masking tape on the back of the shade to minimize or eliminate the telescoping. There was nothing on the installation instructions to explain this, and customer service was not any help. So we took to online videos and found some detailed instructions on how to deal with telescoping. After we completed the adjustments, the roller shades looked and operated well. I would never order these again, as they were not worth the stress and heartache. By the way, we have been doing DIY projects for decades and have never encountered a window covering product with so many operational issues. My personal advice: if you do happen to order them, have a professional install them for you.
Shade of white is more creamy than white.
The shades I received look more like Ivory than White,. I have ordered a sample of the white shade to make a comparison to the shades I received.
I was able to get the app (SmartLife) to control the shades on my phone, but the shades were not recognized by my wife's phone. The remote will not properly recognize one of the three shades, so button 1 controls shade 1, button 3 controls shade 3, and button 2 controls shade 3. I'm sure those kinks can be worked out but my greatest concern is the color.
Roller Blades
Ordering was simple, and I received the product in a couple of weeks. I have little to no skills in fixing, assembling, mounting, etc... and I was able to mount this product in my window, and everthing works great. Remote, the motor... All of it is exactly what I was hoping it would be. ONE suggestion. When you receive your product, get the screws and take them straight to your hardware store and replace them (obviously the exact same size) with phillips head screws. The flat head screws made the installation, probably 30-45 minutes longer for me. Reaching up, and trying to keep your flat head bit from slipping out... Uggh. That was the ONLY complaint that I have, and trust me on switching out to phillips head. Great product, though!
Beyond Expectations
The entire customer experience was excellent. Chris Burns provided excellent advice/service up front, and I was extremely pleased with the fact that I could order a large roller blind (83" wide and 104" long) that was motorized---no other online or big box retailer (including mfg'rs like Bali and Levolor) are able to do that... so I was a bit skeptical that SelectBlinds could. However, I was not disappointed. The blinds are perfect; the motorized feature works well with an easily programmable remote interface (I can program up to 4 "intermediate" stops----so it not "all or nothing"). I'll be even more pleased if I discover that the battery does in fact last approx. 6 mos. As claimed before charging is required. Given the assistance in ordering by Chris, and the resulting product I received, I can't imagine having a better experience--and the cost was incredible too---not difficult to catch them on a good sale... 45% off or better!

Great purchase
Quick & easy order, delivery and installment was also seamless. The light does get filtered thru the blinds but it's still rather bright for those who like to sleep in the dark.
Good blinds but expensive
Like the blinds. 3rd time ordering from them. Been 2 years since last. Prices seemed to double.
Reliable product at a great price
Select blinds produced a roller blind that perfectly fit the window opening. The product was easy to install, and looks great in the room. I believe roller style blinds are reliable. We've only had it a month so far, but they feel study. I'd buy again from Select Blinds, and would choose this exact product again. We're using it in a commercial office space.

These motorized roller shades are fantastic! They work really well, quality is great and installation was simple! Pricing is unmatched as I was quoted almost $3k with another manufacturer and paid less than a third of that. Friends and family keep asking us where we ordered the blinds.

Good value
Easy process. Blinds came quickly. They look nice but I wish there was an option for some sort of a decorative cover for the hardware other that a valance or nothing. Something that snaps on to look a little more finished.
