I can't express how satisfied I am with these shades. My husband works nightshift and we've always had to put towels over our blackout curtains due to light still getting in around the edges. We took a chance on these and I wish we had sooner! They are crazy easy to install and truly block out 100%. And they look great. We couldn't be happier!
We did a test order of 3 units, my measurements were a hair off which left a gap at the bottom of the side rails. I will say, like others, the instructions are terrible, there are no good videos online, perhaps I will do one. We like them so much we ordered enough for the remainder of our rooms. I did get 3/8 thick weather stripping to put at the bottom where the base and sides meet. That successfully seals out the remaining light.
These look really good once installed. Clean lines, fades into background sort of look. The trouble is the install. They make it look incredibly easy and take 2 minutes but that was not my reality. Maybe because it's a wide twin window? The instructions leave much to be desired and the 2 YouTube videos were not especially helpful. They were shipped with these rods that fell out and we never figured out if they were necessary. Didn't come with end caps and various things were taped and we were unsure if that was how they were supposed to stay. Took us about an hour and a half to finally get them installed then had to figure out remote for the motor. All said and done they fit the window and it is pitch black without the foam tape. I mean pitch black.
We purchased 3 of these blinds all for different bedrooms, 1 motorized, 2 manual.
Install for all 3 was finnicky.
- You are not provided with relevant instructions, all the links we were provided were for a different product.
- Lots of the little parts/caps were taped on, presumably to hold it together during shipping, but the tape needs to be removed if you don't want to see it after install, but some of the pieces are rather loose so we spent a lot of time holding things together during install.
- Hopefully your windows are straighter than ours. You're given ~10 feet of something like insulation foam, which is helpful if there are places along the top/bottom/sides that still let light through, but it's not abundantly clear if it's required or just a nice to have. The top corners let in some light in all 3 rooms and that's objectively the most difficult place to try to install the foam.
Motorized Feedback:
- The access point to plug in/charge the motor is at a horrible angle, my husbands hands physically don't fit so he can't plug it in.
- TBD how long the charge lasts.
- Overall pretty good value for a motorized blackout blind.
Manual Feedback:
- The trim for both windows fits very snug, so the measurements are correct, not too short. However the shade itself when pulled all the way down, after letting go it retracts ~1/2 inch and lets in a noticable amount of light. We contacted customer service and they sent us a "heavy bar" with no instructions on how to install it. It was slightly too long and was making lifting/lowering the blinds difficult, so we had to cut it shorter. Ultimately the "heavy bar" solved the problem. Customer service said that the blinds often coil too tight after sitting rolled for a long period of time, so it should relax with time and the bar should only be a temporary accessory. The bar or just magnetic weights should be including in the original packaging if this is such a common problem.
Bottom Line: for the love of God, please make and include better instructions.
GREAT ITEM IT'S NICE AND COMPLETE BLACK OUT
The product was fine and in the end, it installed well but the directions were not good! I called the info line (the person on the other end wasn't a native English speaker and was hard to understand) and she directed me to YouTube videos I had already watched â€"and those weren't good either! Updated, improved directions would be helpful.
These fit perfectly into a window in our front bedroom that is directly next to outside security lights. It block ALL the light and looks great. Available in a variety of colors, excellent quality, and the fit is perfect if you follow the measuring instructions. Very easy to install. Could not be happier. Select Blinds in an excellent company. I would not buy window treatments from anyone else moving forward.
This was a scary experience because it seemed too good to be true. The shades are affordable and I was surprised at the quality of the material and look of them. The directions do seem daunting and could be simplified. It really was quite simple installing two different types on two windows. The 'Bond' remote hub is sensitive to blockages/walls. We could not find the charger on one of the shades and had to call into customer service feeling pretty silly. It was hidden in a place that is not easily accessible. That could be fixed. Customer service was, however, easy to get ahold of and to reach. They were more like a concierge than customer service. It was wonderful. Thank you.
Received the blinds package really well.
The left side of the track came missing with the bracket at the top of it so I had to a screws to hold it in place, instead of the proper way. The blind has a hard time staying all the way closed wants to creep up an inch or so. I will have to figure out a solution to that
Just got these (they ship from Vietnam). My husband had to make some modifications to get it to click into the window opening, so not exactly easy installation like the videos show. There were basically ZERO instructions, very sparse.
I think it was a good value for the end product but I am concerned how the product will hold up. I didn? T realize you get a cord to charge the motor - so we will see how long the motor runs! Hoping to get a few years out of minimal use.
