I preface this with it's all my opinion & best of memory: I used to rent 2 to 4 movies a week from Redbox. Now I get the majority from the library or Walmart $3 or $5 bin.
Back when there were several movie box companies & it was a $1 per night (about 2010-2013).
If they messed up, they went ABOVE & beyond to make it right. IN MY OPINION ALL THE FOLLOWING
As they now control probably 95% of the rental market.
If they goofed yor bill & WAY over changed you, it was refunded & free movie movie code.
When they sent you to the wrong box location, give you a choice refund $1 & free movie code. Etc ABOVE & beyond what is called for.
Then
They turned to JUST free movie codes that expired. To avoid giving your money back.
Then became stringy with those.
Then without notice that I remember getting, (probably micro print somewhere)
They changed 1000 points to 1500 to get a movie. I found out when I got hit for 1500 instead of 1000.
Now
They falsely Advertised 5x points any rental, but give you none. I'll save the email.
12/28/18 through 12/31/18. On 12/29/18, twice I clicked the email, both times 0 points. So I deleted it & called.
They apparently don't care & said "ok can I do anything else for you?" They hadn't done anything.
Don't use redbox, I wonder if they're headed towards bankruptcy?
Worst customer service I've seen in a long while! Got on chat to ask some questions and was met with contempt and attitude! The chat rep abruptly dropped the chat and left me hanging! I wasn't even being rude! Guess I'll make the leap to net flix!
I RENTED 2 VIDEOS AND NEITHER OF THEM WOULD PLAY. IT SAID VIDEO PLAYER NOT WORKING TRY AGAIN. NEVER DID WORK. CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE 3 TIMES. THEIR EMPLOYEES SPOKE VERY POOR ENGLISH AND NEVER COULD GET A REFUND. WILL STOP CREDIT CARD PAYMENT.
I used to love redbox until one day they charged me $32.00 for a movie I never rented. They said I rented a movie and that it was late by 3 weeks and they couldn't even pronounce the movie they said I rented. So I tried disputing it and i still never got my money back, until today when I will never buy from them again in fact I'm going to tell my whole family not to rent from them bc $2 turns into $30 very quick and you want me to trust my money with a bunch of people who can't even speak English or talk right. I don't think so. It's not enough when they took over all the video stores forcing people to only buy from them. Well that stops today. Please note that this could easily happen to you or anyone that reads this. Redbox is not for the people Redbox is for your money.
Ive been to them and each dang time i open the box to make sure its the movie i rented...its not. What are people doing stealing the movies i wanna watch?
Sorry Red box, but you're not ready for On demand streaming services. I started to watch a free movie that I was given due to another Red Box on demand glitch, and 1/2 through the movie it started to buffer and freeze. This went on for about 1/2 hour until I gave up. Then I called the On Demand problem number and after 10 minutes, I was disconnected. Red box is not ready to compete with other streaming services who have figured out the process.
I actually had purchased a disc from kiosk. My son inadvertently rents the same discs not knowing I had bought it. No worries tho, until I go to return it, that is. I accidentally returned the purchased disc but was told I couldn't keep the rented disc in its place because I'd get charged the $45 and their tech or staff aren't sophisticated enough to pull off this MASSIVE task of exchanging discs. Still, no worries tho, I would just return the rented disc and contact them
For a refund I thought, which was fine because neither of the discs played very well anyway and they now have them back even to rob some other poor innocents just wanting to watch a movie, but... WRONG! I went through three different representatives, all of which couldn't care less about helping me resolve this issue and getting me reimbursed. Instead, they were more focused on how they could actually avoid offering any type of assistance and seemingly planned to work as a useless and pusillanimous team causing intentional frustration and exercising their absolute idiocy, all the way to the point of the last sorry and pathetic rep. Actually hitting me square between the eyes with her bullcrap of how they can't issue a refund after 90 days all of a sudden. First I had heard of that. Hell, that could've saved everybody a world of frustration if they would've led with that, which is why it's hard to believe that is actually the truth. Sounds like a cop out, which is not a stretch to consider for their tactics to remain as slothful and pathetic as they possibly can. However, ultimately, the outcome was that they now have my money that I paid for the movie, they have my movie that I paid for, offered no resolution and were quite arrogant about how they had tried to help me and there was just nothing that could be done for me. Then tried to convince me that I should be happy because I had gotten to keep the movie for 7months and only paid $9.64. That's right! Screw principle and any decent moral and considerate customer service reps, right? I mean, why in the world would we expect such a thing as honesty and a company that is going to blatantly steal your money and the product you are trying to purchase from you and then try and make you feel like you are just a bad customer and are of no importance because they can rationalize, in their eyes, why it's somehow ok to steal from you. It's companies like this that I would love to see just collapse, because based on experiences with more than one or more of the staff members, they have obviously indoctrinated the employees into being horrible, pathetic excuses of human life and are nothing but a plague on the economy because of how they handle themselves and how they treat their customer base, even their loyal customer base, which I had been a part of for the life of their existence. Screw Redbox man. I am shifting all of my movie money over to Netflix now as a result and will encourage every individual movie lover I know to do the same and will be sharing my experience as much as I can so that hopefully, they won't get to rob too many more of us before they ultimately go under. It's unbelievable, that in a world of twits and tweets, u would think these clowns would have at least a little shame, when it came to being just pathetic losers and thieves and justifying that it's ok, knowing that it's ginna get posted and broadcasted how much they just suck. {Super high hopes that they will $#*! their doors or at least sell the company to someone that knows how to treat their customers with respect and loyalty and not steal from them}
So, I rented about 20 movies with redbox before i finally opened my formal acct. All my prior rentals were, however, connected to the same email as i used in my acct.
Do think they would give me the stupid points towards a free rental? I mean, I did rent the movies. I just didnt have their little website acct. Set up yet. All these vendors think that we are all just so enamored with their fabulous websites. We are not. We do it because we have to to get free junk. Anyway, redbox will only give points for future purchases. I said that would be a problem because I will no longer rent any movies from redbox because they make me chat with some person in china that barely speaks english and then after that nightmare, they cant give the points... just because... as if that is a satisfactory answer. Ok well redbox now you can FOAD... look it up
It started off ok got alittle better turned out its a life time movie with no real ending or if theres another part but lucky it was free I wont watch again. What is life time movies doing at redbox come on not fair
I havenever really been a fan of redbox. Some sort of hybrid of blockbuster and an atm, I just don't see the value. They only have new movies which I can stream and no older hard to find ones that my local store has. Meh.
Hey just so everyone knows Redbox customer services suck! They have zerox copies of videogames in their machines to rent. Then they charge you 66 dollars for it! Then they want you to return it so somebody else gets it! Unacceptable Redbox!
Rented two movies and ensured returned the next night due to known complaints of overcharging for DVDs. No notification only a $54.00 charge from my account. Called Customer service and the only "courtesy" they could give was $10.00 refund for each disk. $34.00 dollars for two disks that were returned! Both movies sucked and cost $34.00? Also happened to my daughter. Will never use Redbox again.
I have rented movies from Redbox for a while. The intermittent issues with discs is troublesome. They also have very poor customer service.
Rented two movies Sunday and one played fine and the other one messed up in the middle and at the very end. Had this problem twice before... Needless to say we never saw the end of it. Called customer service and had a hard time communicating with them. Did not speak good English. They were nice but it was so frustrating so I just said "never mind" I don't think I'll rent from them again. Fort Valley, Ga. CVS Redbox.
Unplayable DVD with scratches, unable to get a refund.
I wish I could give them 0 stars. Customer service would not help resolve the matter, kept me on hold forever, I finally gave up over $ 1.60.
They didn't win since I will never use them again.
I would rather pay $5.99 on Xinity and download a movie.
I rented three movies, the quality was so bad I couldn't watch them, waste of money. I will never rent from them again.
Renting movies that are scratched, been renting for years, every year has gotten worse. Call in explained whats going on. Only to be treated as if Im trying to get over for a $1.62. After years of loyalty. It's not your customers fault that you dnt have system that assures us the movies are not scratched. The system redbox uses says, another way to RIP OFF CUSTOMERS!
Rente for a promo a DVD and they gave you another free, at the end of the day they charged me double
How does a business that rents movies not have trailers on many of their movies?
This seems crazy to me!
So now Redbox has taken to double billing accounts. I rented two movies. I returned them the following day (before 9pm - the allotted time before they cycle out again). They billed my account for the rentals. That was fine. But then they billed my account again for the same amount. When I called them the rep. Told me that it was a pre-authorization charge (first time for that one) and that the money would be returned to my account in 3-5 business days. WTH!? NEVER AGAIN! I'll stick to getting my movies from Netflix.
