Selling inferior equipment
February 18, 2026

On December 23,2023. I thought I was buying two master spa pumps. After installing one of these, it started going bad within 3 to 4 months I called and they replaced that pump. After paying another. $300 to have an install installed in my Jacuzzi because I'm a quadriplegic and a wheelchair, the warranty unit within 3 to 4 months also went bad. After communicating with the owner of PSS, he seated to tell me that that wasn't a master Spa, but an LX and they're from China and they're basically pieces of $#*! and he told me how to change the bearings. Said it was easy. I didn't buy these pumps to work on and pay $300 each time when they go bad to put into my Jacuzzi. I'm going to attach the communication that he gave me when he is not going to replace these bad inferior pieces of $#*! pumps. There's nothing on the receipt telling me that it's an LX pump and I've never seen the pump because the installer put it in.
Keep in mind the original pumps, Master spas that these were supposed to be last me 8 to 10 years. These two things I bought lasted 3 to 5 months.

My name is John B. I saw your email and have a great deal of experience with motors specifically, so I thought I would jump in and offer some information.

So you know, I owned a motor repair/rebuild company for 8 years in addition to a spa repair company which I owned for more than 2 decades.

There are a few reasons motors fail. What you are describing, "a Loud motor" is caused by defective bearings. The pumps you ordered may have come from Master Spas, but they are the LX brand.

LX is a Chinese manufacturer who is known for making cheap pumps... and they are cheap because they use inferior components, like cheap bearings with little to no lubricant.

To solve your problem in the long term, you really only have a few options.

#1 - buy a bearing puller and replace the bearings with high quality bearings. Easy to do if you are handy, and the puller only costs around $40 on Amazon. We sell quality bearings, or you can buy them at your local industrial supply or even a Napa auto parts can get them usually.

Regardless of who you get them from, before installing, you need to CAREFULLY open the bearing and pack the one in the front with the highest quality "Marine" grade grease that you can find. This will help prevent damage when the pump's impeller seal eventually fails. The bearing in the rear of the motor needs at least 3 solid plugs of grease, 120* apart. If you bend the metal ring in the seal, flatten it on a perfectly flat surface and reinstall it.

#2 - Stop buying what you have learned is a cheap product which will fail early. I personally would NEVER install a LX pump on my own spa. I would ONLY install Waterway Executive 56 pumps. But even though these are FAR superior to the LX, they can develop or even some can come with a low grease level in the bearings.

Eventually ALL bearings need to be removed and the old dried out grease needs to be removed and replaced with fresh clean Marine grade grease. My personal spa's pumps lasted 15 years until I sold the house. They were ALL 3 the Waterway Executive 56's and I replaced the $20 seals every 2-3 years and repacked the bearings at the same time.

#3 - Stay with the LX brand, but just be aware that you will need to replace the LX pumps somewhat regularly, and sell the used ones for $100 on Facebook Marketplace. They may be loud, but someone will buy them, or the local recycling company will likely buy them for $25 or so.

I hope that helps answer your questions. If you want to chat about spa maintenance, just ask. 🙂

Please consider me your friend in the business, and if I can ever be of assistance to you again, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Tough to Sum Up How Bad This Company is at Service
June 27, 2020

Was beginning to think I just caught this company at the wrong time but now seeing so many reviews of the same problem, all I can do is warn others too. Placed an order on 6/10 with UPS Ground. Was told a tracking number would be provided after the order. Never received and had to call. My card was charged right away. First phone number disconnected, 2nd number only goes to recorded message that they are "shipping slower than normal but still full filling orders". Left message and sent email to confirm ship date, waited two days without a response. Got email on 6/14 that my order shipped on the 13th, no tracking numbers. Waited 3 more days and called with no answer, emailed again for tracking number no response. Waited 4 more days then called 3 more times without response, twice I warned I needed to know if there was a delay or anything or I would dispute the charge. No sign of my order or response as of 6/26. Now I'm disputing the charge and having to start all over with another company. As a Manager that trains teams in customer service, I can't warn enough that this company must be avoided. I can accept delays because of Covid19 but not ever answering the phone, returning messages or responding to multiple emails is unacceptable when there is clearly a problem that needs to be explained. Had I been told my order was delayed but given some type of timeframe I would have waited even longer but I have to assume at this point that this company is sitting on credit card charges and can't afford to fulfill them.

Update:
They only responded once I made this public and disputed with my credit card company. They answered their call right away but prior to that ignored my 4 emails, 15 phone calls and 4 voice messages. I only got a credit after I disputed. Confirmed with their competitors and others doing reviews they are baiting with lower pricing, charging, then ordering from China or from US companies that have long lead times. In my case this is a special order item and no one can get in under 6 weeks but they didn't say that at the time of order and even lied and said it shipped on 6/13 when it never did. Once I fought to get a refund, Ken calls me and says they actually have it in stock and can ship, this was after he hung up on me 30 mins prior. These people need serious help. I've reported to BBB.

Tip for consumers:

Avoid this company
