As many others have said, this is the only way I will ever have to own a racehorse(or should I say, part of one). I'm not expecting to make money-I just like to cheer on "my horse"
I have had a lot of fun being a member of MyRacehorse. I have had several winners and enjoy the experience.
The main reason I like this group -- aftercare for the horses and continued review and support for their lives. The quality of the horses presented for sale is outstanding. Customer Service? Without a doubt excellent. They respond to emails quickly. Their explanations of decisions are logical. They listen when I disagree on a topic. They plan events which are reasonably priced. They care for the horses and what's best for them.
I recently ordered a t-shirt in the wrong size. I contacted MyRacehorse who told me to send the shirt back and they would send the correct size. I sent the shirt back and in no time at all I had received my new shirt which I am now proudly wearing! Thank you for your prompt service!
It has been enlightening being a horse owner, if just less than 1%! Learning from the inside how the horses are trained escapes d handled and how fragile these athletes are.
It just feels different when you bet on your horse and they win for you. It is so hard to accomplish.
MyRacehorse has been incredibly fun for me! I have been involved with horses at many levels, and it has been great to have a rooting interest when they run. I especially appreciate the updates and entry notifications. For someone who has been involved in two other partnerships since 2006, MyRacehorse has been the most fun and by far the best value. I get to watch horses I am involved with race at major tracks under the guidance of notable trainers. Seize The Grey has been a life highlight for me. I was also involved with Seismic Beauty and she was spectacular. This model gives people who have not been involved horse racing before the opportunity to experience the sport in its entirety, from purchase of young horses to sometimes the winner's circle... it is a leaning experience for newcomers and also brings new fans to the sport. I also appreciate how MyRacehorse is endlessly patient with new "owners"... I have had nothing but fun since buying the Future Stars bundle a few years ago.
I've owned in over 100 MyRacehorse horses since their early days in 2019. You get the full spectrum of what it's like to own a racehorse. There have been ecstatic thrills (Authentic winning the Kentucky Derby, Seize the Grey winning the Preakness, etc., etc,) that make all the disappointments worth it. It's important for those new to ownership to realize that disappointment and frustration is the status quo. Owning in racehorses – no matter the percentage – requires extreme mental and emotional flexibility. (Thankfully, not financial flexibility with MyRacehorse, since there's never any further costs for the horse after buying a share.) Racehorses spend more time laid up than they do racing. Even when they're racing, sometimes the ideal race doesn't have enough entries, so the track doesn't use it, and you're waiting week after week for another ideal race to be written. Sometimes on the eve of a "has a great shot" race, your horse has something not quite right with it physically and is scratched. These are things that happen all the time that can test one's patience to the extreme. BUT… when your horse crosses the finish line first, all those prior frustrations and disappointments melt away. There is nothing like your horse winning. All the frustrations and setbacks is why the highs in this sport are so, so, so high. And so worth it.
One of my first horses was Authentic, a Kentucky Derby, Breeders' Cup Classic, and Horse of the Year. Then we added Straightnochaser and Seize the Grey, the latter won the Preakness Stakes, the second jewel of the Triple Crown. It's exciting to watch your horse compete at the highest levels. MyRacehorse offers up close visits with your horse(s) and trackside experiences, too. For a small, one time investment, it gives the racing fan a chance to own a racehorse. They offer different levels of ownership, too, but I choose the smaller share experience so I can afford to buy into different horses. My friends are always calling me to find out what horse I have running in the next "big" race.
I have participated with MyRacehorse for the past several years and I absolutely love everything about this group. The updates about my horses keep me engaged and makes me feel connected. I love watching horses progress through their journey.
As with anything there is good and bad... I think they seek out big name trainers and I understand why, but being in the horse business all of my 55 years of age... I see the good and the bad in that. Some of these trainers are great and some of them wouldn't know our horse that is standing in THEIR barn if it kicked them in the teeth. And then there is the west coast trainer that I won't name but I have no respect for at all after having a horse with him. What keeps me investing more is trainers like this. They are the UGLY part of racing. I never went into this expecting to make a dime. And I think Michael Behrens has done a remarkable job along with most of the people affiliated with MyRacehorse. They are GOOD people. But I do find myself passing on more and more horse because of who's barn they are headed to instead of buying into them because of that same reason. I've also learned to not be part of the FB groups for each horse. I will keep looking at the MyRacehorse horses they offer but I do find myself being less excited about them compared to what I felt in the past as well as ALOT pickier about the trainer. A bigger name doesn't mean much to me... I am grateful to be part of the STG ride and his broodmare package. I have been disappointed that they seem disappointed in him when he is just now having his first foals hit the ground.
I have enjoyed my time with MyRaceHorse. Having worked for two owners in the past, I know the cost of owning a racehorse, and I never thought I would be able to afford one. MyRaceHorse has made that possible for me. As much as I enjoyed Seize the Grey, I watched his biggest victories from home. My personal highlight was last July when Elite Heat won at Horseshoe Indy. I met Michael Behrens, was in the winner's circle, and was hugged by the jockey. Life is great!
It has been wonderful getting to see all sides of the thoroughbred industry. I've experienced both success and disappointment but that's all part of the game.
It is fun to watch a horse race knowing you are a part owner of the horse running. I have not yet had the experience of watching one of my horse race live but that would be a fantastic experience.
I've loved my time with MRH. I'm not sure if this review is for the products I've purchased or the microshares, but either way, quite happy. There are many ups and downs with horse racing, by having tiny parts of multiple horses I've been able to make sure I have some that get to the races. Of my entire stable over the years, the % of my stable that have been winners is quite high.
My Racehorse gives us the opportunities you could never get on your own. The chance to own part of a thoroughbred
With a one time very small cost and NO OTHER COSTS! Like any other partnership you have the opportunity to buy in to horses you choose. They are transparent as to who the trainer will be which circuit the horse will run in i. E. west coast, east coast, or Midwest. They offer visits to the farms and racetracks your horses are stabled some are lotteries some are offered for a small fee.
I own several horses some of which are no longer running but have been re trained for a new career. One of the great things about MRH is that they care about their horses even if the decide they are not fond of racing. I have been lucky to have gone on a journey with Seize The Grey who won several grade ones and the Preakness. Also Seismic Beauty and Forbidden Kingdom. As well as many others.
Timing is everything. My first share purchase on myracehorse was Seize the Grey. What a ride that was. For me, it's always about just being involved in the process from training, to racing, to, in Seize the Grey's case, stud activities. As a lifelong horse lover, former horse shower, being of an age where I no longer ride, this activity scratches my horse "itch". I have now invested in several horses in training as well as the 2 broodmare bands. I love seeing the pictures and videos, and tracking the progress of all "my" horses, and thank myracehorse for the great product they produce.
I have enjoyed this opportunity with MyRacehorse. It has given me the ability to be more involved in a sport I only watched from the outside. There are definitely highs and lows when one owns a small part of a racehorse. However, this has been a great way to follow the journey of what it takes to develop a racehorse. I have a much greater appreciation for these magnificent animals.
Been involved for over one year and invested in 32 horses. So far lost 98% of my investments with very little chance of moving into the positive or breaking even. I accept the loss as I knew what I was getting into with the horse biz. I thank you for the opportunity and I hope future investors hit the big one!
My partner and I have gotten a number of offerings with MRH. Without exception it's been great. We do NOT expect to get rich here... and the site and group have made it very clear that's not what it's about. We both love horses, and enjoy racing. It's a distraction from all the Political chaos in the world. I'm disabled, but watching the races, and following the development of each horse is fun. I can't say enough about the Broodmare bundles, and am on edge right now waiting for MY 1st STG baby to arrive. In addition, I have to say that communication with MRH has been STELLER! When ever I've asked a question or had an issue it's been addressed in a professional yet personal manner. Keep up the great work...
Answer: Same here. At one point I had shares in 18 horses. And had a heckuva lot of fun with it.
Answer: Horses are entered into a suitable race when they are fit and healthy. The competition and the ride by the jockey determines if the horse can win or not. Checking with the professional handicappers gives you an idea too.
