They lied to me, damaged my car, and refused to fix it
September 15, 2023

NEVER EVER BRING YOUR CAR HERE.

I went to this business after calling them to verify they had a touch free car wash experience. The person who answered the phone said yes. When I got there I asked the guy at the money till before you go into the tunnel for the machine is it was touchless. He said yes. I pulled forward and then confirmed if it was a touch free car wash once I saw the brushes spinning in the tunnel. AGAIN, the now third employee involved confirmed it was a touch free car wash… obviously it isn't.

I get Terrance (the only person who did any good in this entire fiasco) and Chris (the current manager) to create a damage report for the swirling created on my brand new, NEVER been washed before, less than 2000 miles on the odometer 2023 Dodge Challenger. It is a black car.

They tell me that they will buff the car, after first saying there's nothing they could do about it.

I get sent to the wrong building at first, costing me most of my day off. It was an hour away from where I needed to be, at Piedmont.

We then get sent to the correct place to fix the car after multiple weeks of waiting. Countless messages, texts, voicemails, and emails left to both this store and corporate. Corporate didn't help worth a dime. They referred me back to Chris. Chris didn't help either much, he just referred me to someone named Jace who not once ever contacted me, even while I was in his store at the Piedmont mister car wash location.

Once I'm at the correct place, someone named "E" buffs most of my car in broad daylight. I tell Mr. E that because this is a black car, I will need to see it in the dark to verify if all swirling (and orange peeling) on the ca/ clear coat is gone. E agreed to this.

They refused to do anything about the orange peeling they created, by the way. I let that detail slide as I was aware all cars develop that after time. The swirling is what we were looking to fix with Mr. E involved.

Lo and behold, I get eyes on the work E did that night and see tons of swirling still present near the roof, above the passenger door.

As I still had damage on my car they created, I pursued trying to contact ANYONE at mister car wash for a total of about 3 weeks before hearing again from… ANYONE. Yes, that includes corporate, two managers, and both store's phone lines. Every single time that I called a store I was sent to voicemail.

Finally, I get word from Chris that corporate was hounding him about my unresolved situation. He says there is nothing that can be done now for the car, even though they have the guy who has the power to fix the swirling employed for them. When he explained that it was MY fault for driving the car into the wash (after being lied to/misinformed from multiple employees at this location) and that they would not pursue anything to take the damage off the car, I knew there was nothing good to come from further correspondence with Mister Car Wash as a whole.

What I want to know is… if it was my fault, then why did Chris say they fired all 3 people involved in misinforming me that day?

I have worked as a customer service specialist professionally for about the last decade and I can easily say this is by far the most pitifully easy to fix situation to be presented with as a business, and both Chris and Mister Car Wash completely handled everything unprofessionally, disrespectfully, and without any real morals.

You're better off throwing rocks at your car than bringing it to this joke of a "car wash" - the rocks would probably make my car look better after what they've done to it.

Don't ever waste your time or energy like I have with this mess of a "team."

Signed,

A severely hurt and disappointed ex-customer

Audacity at an all time high! Shameful customer service!
June 17, 2023

I gave myself 24 hours before i wrote this review to make sure i wrote this with a clear mind. I visited the Champions location in Houston Texas. 6612 FM 1960 Rd. W, *******. Where Christian is the manager. I pulled in and selected a package that was $32. I paid and the young man taped my receipt to the inside of the windshield on the driver side then told me to pull up to the vacuums. I did, i got out to throw an empty cup away and put $5 in the clear plastic tip box. Just a quick reference about my car. I'm OCD so theres not trash, shoes, messiness or dirtiness in my car. There was a dirt smudge on the passenger side from a couple of days before... my car gets vacuumed and goes through the car wash. Gets pulled into the dry line. 2 vehicles are called ahead of me and then mine. The young lady says, "Black Dodge"... looking around for the owner. I stood up and she repeated herself. So i waved to her acknowledging thats my vehicle. She looks me directly in the face and repeats herself. So standing in front of her as a few other patrons are watching, i vocalized that this was my vehicle. To which she says, "OH, its your car? Do you have your receipt?" I said no, its taped in the window... HER: I need to see a receipt or the card you paid with. ME: why didn't you ask anyone else for these things? HER: we want to make sure that you're not stealing it. ME: Excuse me?! You have all these cameras and I'M the only one you ask?... so clearly irritated i go to my car to realize SHE had the receipt that was taped in the windshield and entire right side of my car had not been touched. The manager CHRISTIAN comes over and immediately notices and calls someone back over to help him actually wipe out the inside of my car, which was part of the service i paid for, that they were about to let me drive with as a completed job. I forgot to mention that i handed the young lady who assumed i could be possibly be stealing my car $5 for people drying and finishing... as i get back in the car CHRISTIAN passively threw an "I'm sorry" my way. I did later accuse him of not apologizing, that was after i came immediately back bc i realized the windshield hadn't been wiped on the outside. Which was a service i paid for. But CHRISTIAN condensendingly says thats water spots. ME: Yes but they can be wiped off...to which i used my finger to show him. I'm clearly irritated at this time and i asked for my tip back, to which CHRISTIAN says, "what? Did you tip like $4? So i said: Never mind i just want my money back now. This was JUNE 16 2023. Grateful and thankful for the other patrons who witnessed this and let me know that they saw and were aware of what happened. My car is by no means perfect or scratch free from natural causes but i don't think its unreasonable to expect to receive the service you paid for.

Tip for consumers:

ITS not unreasonable to expect to have a service done that you paid for and not be treated like a human being. Do better Mister Car Wash. You should be embarrassed.

Mister Carwash caused Hundreds/thousands of Dollars in Damages and Company denied damage claim
March 16, 2023

If I could give them negative stars I would. Mister Carwash significantly damaged my car. My car's paint was pristine before I took my car to Mister Carwash to get washed. It had no paint chips, scratches, or swirl Mark's in the paint previously. I had gotten their unlimited monthly membership in January 2023 and less than a month of using their carwash and my car paint now has hundreds/thousands of dollars worth of damage to the paint. My mechanic had inspected my car back in December of 2022 so he knew how pristine the paint job was on my car before taking it to the car wash. I then took it to my mechanic in January 2023 to have my mechanic look at the damage and he said that this type of damage definitely had to have happened at the carwash and said since the chips & scratches are down to the metal that it can't be buffed out and it will completely have to be repainted. It seems like Mister Carwash has been having a lot of issues lately with damages that their carwashes have caused and they won't take accountability and will deny your claim. After giving me the run around for almost a month, talking to different managers, and them making me bring my car back up to their location multiple times on my dime only to have different managers look at it and they ended up denying my claim. And they gave me the same excuse/statement they give others when they deny their claim which is "the damage wasn't consistent with how our brushes and machinery work". And the district manager wanted me to drive my car through their wash again to see how the damage could have been caused to my car. I told him that I didn't feel comfortable taking my car through the car wash again being that it sustained all these damages from going through it previously. So I declined. There are a lot of others that have had their cars damaged, made a claim, and were denied. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau now since I tried to go through Mister Carwash directly and they denied my claim. They keep telling me to contact their company in different ways which all in the end result in absolutely no help and them just telling me that there is nothing more that they can do. I am sure they will reply to this review the same way as they usually do and by telling me to contact either their customer service number or directly by email; but like I said before, this will not be of any help because I know I will get the same results of them telling me that my claim was denied and that there is nothing more that can be done in their end. Unless you want to get hundreds/thousands worth of damage to your car and then them not taking accountability for the damage and denying your claim don't take your car here. Here are just a few pictures of the damages that Mister Carwash caused to my black car. All those white marks and specs that you see in the photos are paint chips, scratches, and swirls that the Mister Carwash caused on my black car paint. The car paint damage happened during January of 2023, the month that I signed up for their montly unlimited car wash.

Tip for consumers:

I do not recommend this company unless you are willing to take the risk of hundreds/thousands of dollars worth of damages possibly being caused to your car and the company not taking accountability and denying your claim.

+++Absolutely terrible car washing place on earth+++
December 27, 2022

+++ WARNING: DO NOT wash your car there without take photos and video of your car external Ahead of time!+++ Mister Car *******@2350 Pleasant Hill Rd is THE most terrible place to get your car washed and DAMAGED. Two months ago I was trying to sell my Honda Accord so I went there to use their vacuum service. My car was in perfect selling condition and had zero visible scratch and I had high hope for a higher than average selling price due to the excellent external condition and great shining paint. I went there to use the vacuum and decided to patron them with a car wash since I used their free vacuum service. What a terrible mistake! I purchased their most expensive car washing option and didn't expect any accident. During the car washing process, the rollers and other whipping things from their machine were violently striking on the car and passing through my car surface with great force and shaking my car pretty badly. I was wondering why the machine would have to use that kind of heavy force which seemed unnecessary at all. After my car came out from washing room, I immediately noticed that their machine scratched the paint on my car all over very badly. Their machine scratched my hood, sides, bumpers and roof very badly. There are highly visible scratches all over my car body after this car wash which my original intention is to patron them, WTF?! I immediately notified the employee on duty there and he came to look at the scratches and then he started to call his boss to report this damage. The employee then said his boss would call me later regarding the damage. In the next a few days while I was waiting for the call, I went to the famous Maaco Auto Paint to have their experts look at the paint damage. After they walked through the car and I was told that it would cost me $1100 to fix all the paint damage caused by Mister car wash. In a few days, a manager named Jacob called me and denied every responsibility even though his employee confirmed that damage on the spot and even I offered to send him all the photos and I was willing to meet him to let him see the damage in person. Yet this guy immediately and completely denied anything and offered ZERO apology and ZERO help. He said he wouldn't do anything about the damage to my car. The call was ended in only 2-3 mins with his arrogant attitude. I kind of felt being treated as " you sucker" during the whole short conversation. At this moment I am thinking about suing them in Small Claim court and posting my story plus photos on all online sites/forums (to let all potential customers to see the evidences with their own eyes) and directly contacting/reporting to Mister headquarter etc. Please DO NOT go to this place unless you want to take the risk of paint damage. Ok even if you decide to take this risk, I urge you take detailed photos and video of your car before you drive your car into their machine. They will deny everything and anything about your damage if you are unfortunate. This is a very unethical business practice running by unethical people. I think they would figure out most people would suck up and live with the damage so their unethical practice can happily continue "as usual". Please run away from them and protect you and your car from them! If you google the reviews for Mister Car Wash which is a franchise, the reviews are generally VERY LOW no matter which Mister Car Wash you go.

Used to be great, now corporate terrible
September 17, 2022

Had been frequenting a mister car wash near my house for almost 10 years (was acquired by mr car wash). Conceptually I love Mr. Car Wash... vacuum your own car, self pay, quick in and out. However, the reality has recently become far from the conceptual ideal.

I just came from the car wash, and in the cash lane (car wash subscriptions are insanely stupid) I sat in the line as it took 10+ mins for each car to pay. Not get through the wash, but simply pay at the kiosk. That's 30 mins for 3 cars just to get INTO the car wash. Why? Because there's an attendant (at a self service kiosk) who appears determined to spend an inordinate amount of time trying to upsell every car on a subscription service.

I ended up speaking with the general manager, who explained that their goal is "5 mins for each car to get through the wash." When I highlighted it was taking 10+ mins for each car just to pay he said "well, we're busy", apparently oblivious to the idea that a per car processing rate has nothing to do with how busy the location may be. I reiterated the timing to clarify, to which he replied "that's why we have the subscription lane," apparently saying the quiet part out loud about the fact that Mister Car Wash's end goal is to make anything other than a subscription car wash intolerable.

To provide some more insight, Mister Car Wash is an M&A roll-up of a bunch of independent car washes. They IPOd in 2021, and since that IPO their stock price has been cut in half. The reason is somewhat obvious; car washes are a discretionary service, and one people don't really need, so in an inflationary environment people eliminate or stretch them out. So, the net here is that I suspect that the uptick in terrible service and interminable waits for "cash service" is a feature not a bug... a direct result of corporate telling locations to 1) put staff at every self service kiosk (which is dangerous, since those kiosks aren't designed for attendants) and 2) hit hard quotas for the number of subscriptions sold per month (which is why the attendants are so aggressive about it).

So, Mister Car Wash has gotten terrible, and will probably continue to get worse as we head into a recession, discretionary services like car washes get cut back, and the business fails to meet its investors (and the markets) expectations (corporate will become even MORE aggressive on this strategy).

Anyway, if you're wondering why MCW seems so terrible, takes so long, and treats you so poorly now you know. You don't really matter, just your subscription.

Light scratches all over my vehicle
February 5, 2021

I bought my vehicle new (1 mile on it) from the dealership in August. Our Auto Broker and I looked at the entire exterior/interior. There was 1 small dent which my auto broker took care of. Absolutely no scratches. Sept 19 I took it to the carwash (this one) and was told about the membership, I bought it on the spot. It was about 1.5-2 months I noticed some light scratches. I then walked around my entire vehicle and on every inch of it there are light scratches that are in swooping motions and straight across. Some are slightly deeper. There has not been anywhere else I have washed my car, nor have I gone to any facility that would cause these type of scratches. You have to be looking at them with the sun on the paint and at an angle. I now see them all the time. I called corporate to cancel my membership and the gal asked me if I wanted to file a claim. She said that the manager will call me. Since it was November I gave him the benefit of the doubt and I didn't jump on responding due to the holidays. In Jan I called again. The gal this time said she sees my phone call and will email "him" about responding to me. She then also emailed me a confirmation on my request. No response after a week I called the actual place and brought my car in. The manager, Marvin acknowledged the scratches all over and took pictures. He said he would file a claim, I received the text confirmation. He said I would get a phone call back in 24-48 hours. Didn't happen so I called the store 3 times, twice he was busy and the guy told me he would call me back. Didn't happen. On the 3rd time Marvin was off. I asked to speak with a manager. The guy said he was but he couldn't help me. He did say he would have Marvin call me next day. Didn't happen. I called today and finally got him on the phone. He said he was still investigating and told me that they never fix vehicles that have scratches on them?! This is because they clean their equipment every night and have some kinds of water that cleans them throughout the day. This got me thinking... every time I go there, there is always a line of 5-10 cars back to back. The car in front is about 1 car distant from the other car. Doesn't matter how dirty the car or truck is, the next vehicle is pushed in right away. How clean can their equipment really get in that short time frame? If there is a truck in front of me with rocks on their tires, how does that work?
