Damaged Books!
April 13, 2020

Placed an order for 2 expensive comic books and the books arrived damaged. After contacting the company and being offered a 25% discount or return I selected the return option. After they received the books and constantly stated that the books never arrived I had to get PayPal involved. Within a day of filing a dispute I received the funds. Stay away unless you want to deal with the BS and ineptitude of customer service.

Damaged Goods
March 7, 2020

I have found that Midtown Comics are committed to shipping valuable comics to International customers in USPS Flat Rate Envelopes without the necessary protection of its contents and in full knowledge that these comics may suffer damage in transit.
Myself and others before me, have suffered loss from this inconsiderate and unethical policy.

I places preview orders sent to my address overseas over several years, but Midtown kept messing them up. I carefully ordered no more than 17 issues per biweekly package, because it's hard to get more than that in an international priority flat-rate envelope, but Midtown kept trying to send three or four weeks worth of comics at a time and then canceling my order because it wouldn't fit.

I ended up switching to MyComicShop.com, which has great customer service, and I ordered the issues that Midtown failed to send me from MyComicShop. Then I stopped ordering from Midtown.

And that's when my problems with Midtown REALLY started.

Two months after I stopped ordering anything from Midtown, they started sending me issues from old previews--preview orders that were placed over three months earlier--one at a time and charging me $37 for shipping PER ISSUE valued at under $4. That's insane.

I wrote to them begging them to close my account so this wouldn't happen again, but they refused, saying I have to cancel preview items when their app has no way to do that!

Midtown's customer service is beyond atrocious. Do yourself a favor and choose MyComicShop instead.

Great besides dam aged orders
November 24, 2019

I am editing my original review. I think Midtown is amazing for the occasional damaged order. But on the bright side. They are always willing to fix things that went wrong.

I had a subscription to Amazing Spider-Man, I wrote to the subscription service managed by Midtown Comics because I didn't receive the number 17.
Of course, to know that the number 17 would not arrive I had to first receive the 18, this took three months, because I'm an international customer.
Midtown Comics answered was that after ten weeks they do not accept complaints.
I replied that I absolutely do not agree with their policy because to know that I do not receive a number, I must first receive the next one and if this takes more than ten weeks, the fault is not mine.
I also wrote that at this point, I would have cancelled the automatic renewal and at the end of the subscription, I would not have renewed again.
They replied with a formal email, without any wish to solve the problem and even worse, they cancelled my subscription immediately without I have asked for it.
After about ten years of subscription, I have been treated this way; I am very disappointed with the Marvel subscription system managed by Midtown Comics. After over forty years of reading Marvel comics, I will stop buying any of your products. I prefer the memory of the genuine Marvel of the past.

Worst Customer experience ever
April 15, 2019

Horribly run business and no customer service. They banned me from buying from their website because I complained about my orders arriving damaged. I have been a loyal customer for 5 years spending over $10,000 during that time. Never had an issue up until this past year. I had 4 orders arrive within the past 12 months that either arrived completely damaged or had a few in the order that were damaged. They advertise all their pre-orders being in NM condition so when they weren't, I filed a request for a return. After the 4th return they told me that none of my future orders would be replaced for damage unless I started paying for UPS shipping instead of using the free shipping option. I asked where this policy was return out and I got no reply to my email, just someone saying it's their policy. But yet no one could provide me with any proof of this policy every time I asked. I tried to explain to them that the damage did not happen from shipping but their management is so arrogant that they refuse to take any responsibility for the damage and just blamed USPS. I live 3 miles from their shipping center, it's highly unlikely the items were damaged during shipping. 3 of the items had the pages folded over. Pages don't fold during shipping. The other items were dropped by their employees prior to shipping. And I know this because all the comics were damaged on the same exact corner but the package it was sent in was in perfect condition meaning the damage happened before it was boxed up. They changed my account after the 4th return so that way I could no longer choose the free shipping option on all my preview orders over $75 and I was forced to pay for UPS shipping. I filed a complaint with the BBB regarding this and the person who responded did nothing but lie in his response and show no sign of wanting to fix this issue and come to a resolution. He stated that I returned items without authorization and that I violated their terms of service. None of which was true. I had emails for every return I did and I still do and when I asked what items they think were returned without approval; I got no response. When I asked them what terms of service were violated; I got no response. You guys do not know how to deal with customer service issues. You blame me for the damages, like I have any control over your employees dropping my merchandise. I have been a loyal customer for a long time and you guys really could care less. You are responsible for sending the merchandise damaged and from the look of your other complaints, I'm not the only one who you've done this to. I am honestly really surprised you are still in business with such unethical business practices and closedmindedness to not see a problem and choose to fix it. You guys are truly the worst company I have ever had to deal with and I hope you go out of business one day, you have no respect or appreciation for repeat customers and have no loyalty to any customer, what a disgrace you are.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS
August 1, 2018

Took order for Topps Chrome on May 4th. No communication whatsoever, and upon release day 8/1 no order shipped. When I chatted online, was told release day was changed to 8/29 which was a LIE. Then a new chat said that my order was cancelled. Now to replace the items, I would have to pay over $200 more. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY

Avoid at all costs!
July 19, 2018

For a large-scale comic shop - they sure hate comics. Their packaging is absolutely terrible and every comic I ordered consistently came in horrible shape. They blame everything on USPS or UPS and take no responsibility for damaged books (and this is their policy and they will tell you that) even though they don't know how to package books AT ALL. It's not that hard packaging books so that they don't constantly arrive damaged. On top of that - they are terrible at advertising their books online. You better read the fine print and avoid looking at the pictures of the book you think you are getting. What appears in the title area of the site won't always match this small book description hiding at the very bottom of the page (scroll down!). After back-to-back bad experiences I will never order from them again. Buyer beware!

Consistently receive comics in poor shape, sometimes shredded INSIDE THE PACKAGE, so no blaming the postal service. Never on time. The customer service is a joke.

Your not welcome
June 29, 2016

I was at the downtown location and when I walked in no one greeted me, and when I did get help the female who helped me (white, sand color hair, and glasses) wasn't nice to me at all. She got upset because she pick the wrong pin from behind the counter she thought she heard me say I wanted, and she got upset when I wanted to exchange something after I purchased it. She did not give me everything I asked for behind the glass I wanted to purchase, but I didn't ask for it because of her aura. She did not give me my free gift that day just 20 percent off. She said if I get the percentage off no gift it's either or. But the paper said 20 percent off and free gift from d c comics. I didn't bother to go on about it I just went on my way. Howard B.

I love midtown comics
February 20, 2014

I love midtown comics. I'v been going to their store in NYC since i was a kid. The first time you shop on their app they give you a 20% off code so that is nice. Overall the site is ok. Could be designed better but it's still simple enough to find what you want. So to sum up, if you want a comic or comic related item, you can probably find it on the site
