I was surprised that I'd never written a review of LeTote, even though I mentioned them multiple times in my Gwynnie Bee review.
I subscribed to GB for months before I tried LeTote, so they were my prior experience with renting clothing through the mail, and this experience is probably why I have such a favorable opinion of LeTote. While that service seemed to keep getting worse (or was at the very least inconsistent), LeTote keeps getting better.
Some older blog reviews mentioned issues with LeTote's "styling," but now, you can change and customize what they first offer you. There have been a few times where I see what they will send me and I think, "Blech." And there are also times when I've been a little bit disappointed by the options for switching things out. And there was yet another time that I had selected a blazer and they sent me something very casual instead. When I complained to them about this, they pointed out that they are the only rental service that even OFFERS the option to switch out from the default, and really, I have to give them that. Even when GB started offering "priority," I could absolutely never choose something else if I didn't like what they were giving me.
My personal taste is very much in-line with their clothing options, especially since I work in a relatively conservative office. This isn't to say that they don't have fun, trendy stuff, they do, but I can get blazers that match well with my current wardrobe, or cozy cardigans that I want to wear all weekend. All the clothes I've received have been pretty high quality, including their house brands; I've received one or two stinky or snagged things in well over a year of subscribing (and always am given an extra item in my next tote when I complain).
A main issue I've had with other rental services is the slooooow turnaround time for clothes/other items. Not long after my return tote is picked up by the USPS system, I get an email to confirm a new tote. I'll often drop my package off at the post office during lunch and easily by the evening I'm getting an email to style a new tote. The tote is usually shipped the next day, via 2-day mail. And unlike other services, it's not just stuck at the warehouse -- they ACTUALLY ship it!
And something that very much impresses me about LeTote is their fit algorithms. This was a big problem I had with other services -- there was often inconsistent sizing, and in order to find the right fit, I'd have to dig through multiple reviews and sizing charts and even then, hope for the best. LeTote has detailed information on all of this stuff, and since I provide them feedback on how items fit, it's once in a blue moon that I get something that doesn't fit. (Or, it's because I ignored their algorithms and got something anyways because I liked the print.)
And when they have sales, you can get some GREAT deals on stuff. You can buy things even if you don't already have them at home, which is also awesome, but I often use these opportunities to get previous items that I loved but that were a little bit too pricey.
As you can tell, I have no desire to cancel the service, so I don't have any experience with cancelling. I would not be surprised if it was a pain in the butt. However, since they are constantly improving their processes and algorithms, it also wouldn't completely surprise me if this was ALSO something that they improved on in the future. (But frankly, it could go either way.) Maybe I'll come back and downgrade my review if I cancel, but so far I've only had to place holds on the account, and that always went swimmingly.
I really like LeTote and I hope they stick around!
