UNFRIENDLY SITE OWNERS
November 13, 2017

I don't think I'd recommend this site since they could just hold back your payment at times, with no good reason. There's this time I made hundreds of dollars, then they just froze my account accusing me of fraud. Who does that? Do you want to keep on locking writers out of their accounts once they've made decent cash from their hard work? That isn't fair at all.

Fraudulent
November 10, 2017

To the company that writes fake reviews for itself... I can only concur that it is indeed a sweatshop and does not pay money out on time.

Solid.
February 27, 2017

There are a ton of gig-based sites like HireWriters out there, but this is where I got my start, and is still my emotive favorite.
I've been freelancing for a little over three years now, and using HireWriters, I was able to go from part time to full time income in about 6 months.

It's true - when you're first starting out, and nobody knows who you are and what you can do, you don't make a lot of money with each assignment.
On the other hand, if you stick with it, and demonstrate your value to your initial clients, the rates tend to rise all by themselves, because your clients are going to be willing to pay extra to get great quality work, rather than taking a chance on another unknown writer who can do it for a little less.

I've never had a problem with payment - happens like clockwork, every Friday, and while you occasionally get a client who will reject your work and use it anyway, that's true of ANY website like this... sometimes, you just get a bad client. It happens.

The trick is to stick with it.
When you're starting out, it's strictly a volume business.

Once you make a name for yourself, it becomes less about that, and more about writing on topics you love, but that's the great thing about HW... with the number of clients and the array of topics to choose from, there's always a dizzying range of topics to choose from (and as a side bonus, once you start writing across a broad spectrum, you're a BEAST when it comes to trivia games!)

Great site, helpful and friendly staff... prompt payment. If you're looking to break into writing as a profession, I recommend it.

Nine years and counting
February 24, 2017

I have been writing for HireWriters for over nine years, and I really like the way the platform works. No need for endless bidding on jobs, you just select the work that you want.

Pay to start out is pretty pitiful, but as you quickly gain status, you can get better paid jobs and eventually you will have your own clients who pay at a much more generous rate.

I have always been paid on time, and have earned thousands of dollars over the years. Customer support has always been helpful.

I've made thousands of dollars writing for HireWriters.com
February 22, 2017

Not sure about what these other posters were talking about, but based on their atrocious grammar, it is no wonder they weren't allowed to write for HireWriters.com.

At HireWriters, they only allow native English speaking writers to join. They also require that you pass a stringent grammar test and submit a 150 word essay. Once you do, you'll have access to hundreds of cool jobs. I've already made thousands of dollars from them, and I've always gotten paid like clockwork, every Friday.

I'd definitely recommend them. If you follow their rules (ie. Just don't plagiarize content or pretend to be a native English speaking person when you're not) you'll never have a problem.

Don't Write for Them
February 22, 2017

Stay away from here if you rely on the money that you get from writing to support yourself in any way. They don't pay on time, and they may lock you out of your account and accuse you of fraud, too. I haven't even been on there two weeks, and I got locked out with no clue as to why they did it. I had a rating of 4.86 stars from about 20 satisfied clients. These people locked me out and didn't even have the decency to give me a good answer about why they did it. They said something about anti-fraud measures, but I don't understand how fraud could occur when I was just writing articles and selling them to the customers. What fraud?

Several writers have been locked out of their accounts and accused of various false violations. Look around at their other reviews. You'll see this complain time and time again.

I think the lockout thing is a scam that they do so they can keep your money and attempt to justify it by saying that you violated something. I've written for many mills, and this was by far the most dishonest and unprofessional one. Most of the clients were cool, but the business was horrible. Write for them only if you enjoy not knowing whether you'll get paid or not and whether you'll be "allowed" to write the next day.

Update 3/13/17- Went back and forth with "Brandon" about the issues that they had with my account. His excuse for locking people out of their accounts made no sense whatsoever. I wrote a few articles for them for another week because they had some pretty cool clients on there. I didn't get paid on Friday (3/10/17) like I was supposed to. I'm still trying to collect $29 from them for my work. That is really sad. If they'll do this to a struggling person with $29, I feel sorry for people who have written hundreds of dollars worth of material for them and haven't gotten paid. Thank goodness I was smart enough not to write that much. It's very sad that human beings have to do other human beings this way. There isn't much I can do except struggle through the week and digest this valuable lesson. Ugliness will come back at them at some point. Maybe some people had no problems with them, but I certainly did. This isn't my first content mill, but it's the first one that ever locked me out of my account, accused me of nonsense, and kept my money. What the Sam hell is wrong with these people?

Update 3/13/17- I requested the money that they owed me for writing articles again, and Brandon answered and said that I didn't get paid because my account was fraudulent again. He asked me to send him another picture of my myself holding my license, which I already sent him once. The bottom line is that thieves own this company. If you're wondering whether you should write for them, the answer is no. Don't write unless you like doing free work. If you do write for them, you will eventually come across a time when you don't get paid. You have been warned. These people will burn in hell for what they are doing. Don't even bother with them.

Does not pay writers well for their work
February 21, 2017

Hirewriters.com seems to prioritize clients more than it does the writers. The suggested payment amounts for articles are very low for the word count. In addition to this, many clients will post jobs in a lower word count category than they want the article to be, so you will be underpaid for your work no matter what you do. The only reason that I still use this site is because writing is a hobby of mine, and this site is a way to make a little money off of it. You have complete control over which writing jobs you choose, however, so I find myself only accepting the posted jobs which are somewhat reasonable for the pay. These types of jobs, though, are not very common on hirewriters.com. I do not recommend this site if you are serious about starting a writing career.

This site is an online sweat shop that pays writers...
February 4, 2015

This site is an online sweat shop that pays writers a pathetic, pitiful amount of money to create articles. I have read that people like to buy cheap articles here and sell them on for profit or, worse, reject the article, steal it and then sell it on. Desperate people, at their wit's end, write for this site because they have no other options and Hire Writers, like the opportunistic predators they are, exploit this fact. In short, Hire Writers is an online sweatshop where the clients ask for much and give next to nothing in return. Avoid this site like the plague.
