Poppys but of a different cultivar. I waited 3 months for this? I give one star cause the seeds germinated within 3-5 days with no cold stratification. As the bulb got bigger ( size of a dime and no bigger) a clear sticky ooz seeped out the side. Maybe this 1Ib. Bag is an assortment and has a true Opium poppy in it?
Amazing quality seeds, now let's see if they sprout.
Not one seed sprouted. Very disappointing. I've grown poppies for years.
California's prop 65 labels everything as carcinogenic. I don't worry about those labels.
Really good flavor.
Very odd and disconcerting that these came with a Prop65 warning label for lead exposure when the online description doesn’t mention this. Shouldn’t the company test for lead themselves and post the actual amt of lead/gram? There is no info on the Prop65 website that I can find specific to poppy seed lead contamination. Now what? I wanted to make edible pastries, not toxic ones.
Worth the half week wait for them, they really helped make my Serbian Mother's Thanksgiving this year for pastries.
They come unwashed. Good price for the quality 👌
Such a great price and quality. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
Fair enough for the price.
Poppy seeds of excellent quality are a nieche market...for the culinary arts, and herbal/homeopathic medicine...
Both for grade A culinary and grade A medicinal application require the same attributes...
In other words, a poppy seed batch that is superb for culinary uses, will also be superb for homeopathic/natural home remedy uses.
These seeds I ordered from mont. Bay were a c+ to a B minus...
Not garbage by any means...
Definitely has a nutty nose though subtle, dry roasting brings it out a lil more.
Definitely good in the looks department too.
You can tell that these seeds are natural and minimally processed, just by looking with naked eye and magnifying glass, and by smelling.
Overall because the price is right, the seeds are good enough to order again.
I prefer having multiple cultivars from multiple countries of unprocessed raw natural poppy seed stored up at all times...therefore getting a sort of entourage of smells/culinary/medicinal attributes.
For crackers and salads and baking
