Too peppery
I don't know what it is about this blend, but it's so peppery. I tried to even steep with my coffee for a spiced coffee, but it ruined it because of the strong pepper. Never had chai like this.
Tea verses Shipping
I am very satisfied with the quality of Monterey Bay Herb Co products, but dissatisfied with the shipping policy of only first class shipping. The cost of shipping 1lb of chai is very close to the cost of the tea itself (almost doubling it). While I live in Oregon, (one state away) the first class shipping timetable also does not seem to expediate the arrival by much..
Nice and Spicy!
I struggle to find chai that is spicy enough (without containing peppers), caffeine free, and reasonably priced. This one checks every box! It's delicious on its own or as part of a latte.
Perfect
I decoct this on the stove per the instructions on the bag. Like most root/seed herb-based decoctions, it gets better the longer it sits so I like to leave a pot on the stove and just add more water and reheat, and occasionally more herbs as needed. This really brings out the spiciness of the ginger, as well as other flavors and takes it from good to amazing. I also add oatstraw for added minerals and relaxation.

The recipe on the bag was helpful but I adjusted it for my tastes. I added Assam black tea, brown sugar, and milk (cow's, oat, or almond).

Need I say more? It calms me down, it warms my body when I'm cold, it makes me so appreciative of life...it is creates a nuance in the atmosphere of Thanksgiving and Christmas when it is brewing and you find yourself relaxing more and more with every sip. It just makes me thankful. I feel alive and focused as well. Can't say enough!

Makes wonderful Jock's Loaf (Scottish Tea Bread)
I use this chai spice mix to make Jock's Loaf, a spicy Scottish Tea Bread with dark and golden raisins. It is the best quick bread I have ever made.
