SCAM THEY KEEP CHARGING MY CREDIT CARD EVERY MONTH $9.95 FOR WHAT I DON'T KNOW. ORDERED A BOOK AT XMAS AND THEN THIS CHARGE STARTED SHOWING UP EVERY MONTH. BEWARE SCAMERS
Wow! If I had only read the reviews prior to ordering a book, I would have certainly gone to a different website to order. I received an email two days after placing my order, stating the book I purchased was on backorder, and no ship date was provided. I called the helpdesk, and was put on hold for over 7 minutes. I asked to cancel my order, so I could get the book elsewhere. I was again put on hold for another 5 minutes. The helpdesk person said she could not guarantee my order would be canceled, but could not explain why. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS WEBSITE! SCAM
They charged my credit card for 9.95 after i ordered a book for 5.95. They enroll you in some kind of membership if you order anything from them. I called and told them to cancel and credit my card. Waiting yo see what happens. Stay away from them.
I bought some books in Sept 09 from this site. They sent the books and an email. Buried in the email was the 'offer' to try their website free for a month. I accepted, but deeper in the email was the 'gotcha' that if I did not expressly cancel the membership, they would charge my account $9.95 for the 'pleasure; of buying their merchandise. I didn't notice the charge for a few months (my bad) and finally caught on and cancelled the membership. When I cancelled, they were charging the 'monthly membership" every three weeks. Avoid this vendor!
BEWARE! A BUNCH OF SCAMMERS! I had the same experience as others, with these jerks billing me $19.95 monthly without ever notifying me that they had me signed up for any sort of membership or services.
I ordered 3 books on 1/3 after which I noted all of the negative reviews. Because of these reviews, I started to cancel my order on the 4th, but received an email saying that my books had shipped on the 4th, so I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and let my order come. Come it did. Yesterday 1/9 by USPS. And the books were in new condition as advertised. The price was almost half that of the other bookstores. I'm a happy camper. If I have any complaint, it's that they wouldn't allow me to order more than 3 copies of a single title. But I can live with that.

DO NOT ORDER from these fraudulent thieves! I was charged for canceled items and they charged me after they had sent me e-mail confirmation of the cancellation and stating I would not be charged! I placed an order for several books on Dec 4. Then, on Dec 14 - Ten days later (why did it take 10 days?!) - I received an e-mail from DBS stating none of the items were available and they did not know when they might become available. I had ordered these books for XMas gifts, so I could not wait. I called DBS that same day - Dec 14 - and Canceled the order. I received an e-mial message stating that "All items were canceled" and also stating "We will not charge you for the items canceled" I now find out, 2 weeks later that DBS DID charge my Credit card $160.00+ I called their customer service # and was on-hold for 20+ min, then a recording came on and said no one available and disconnected my call. This happened 3 times before I finally I got to speak to someone. The person I finally spoke to (Brian@ ext 213) was rude, and refused to offer an explanation. He told me to go ahead and contact my credit card company, and then said, "I'd have a hard time disputing the charges" I could not believe the arrogance! Further, as others have said on this site, I too was enrolled in some bogus "membership" which I did not consent to! I wish I had read the reviews about DBS before I ever clicked on their site. Their fraudulent actions need to be reported to authorities.
Without my knowing, they charged me for membership. I disputed and they credited my account; however, an even higher charge from rebategiant.com appeared on my credit card. Bank of America alerted me and is reporting the matter to the fraud unit. Look out for BBV discount book sale it is the same as DBS. They are affiliated with rebate giant and others.
Please note, the following, all "dot com" are affiliated:
DiscountBookSale, SmartSavingsCenter, BestBrandValues, HotMovieSale, DiscountPosterSale, RebateGiant, USDirectory, and Inbox.
I, too found a book on DiscountBookSales DBS). When I entered my billing info, the next page displayed a special through Smart Savings Center (SSC). I exited the page without clicking. Today I got an email saying that my 3 day trial had 1 day to go. I did call to cancel and did receive a cancellation email back from SCC. I also received an email from DBS that my book wouldn't ship to the 20th and my card wouldn't be charged until then.
I also contacted Discovercard and was informed that my "secure card number" was already authorized for the books (no problem, as I did order the books). However, Discover agreed to immediately cancel that "secure card number" so no further charges could be placed by anyone. They also said that if the card wasn't charged in 10-days, the authorization would drop off and the charge could be cancelled.
Yes, I did email DBS to cancel the order
I bought a used paperback book from www.DiscountBookSale.com. The charge to my credit card for that book was by DBS Books. Then I get an email, welcoming me to www.BestBrandValues.com. The second page tells me it costs $19.95 per month. I never signed up for this. Three days later, a $19.95 charge appears, payable to, guess who, DBS Books. Fraud!
