This site does have some posters that can get out of hand, but only a few and most are easily countered, punished, or simply enough put on ignore. There are some good debates on this site and some that spiral into crap. The Mods are pretty good, although some of my favorites have left. I've been on this site for over 12 years. There's passion in the debates and both good and bad posters on either side and plenty in the middle. There are also places to vent. Don't want to get banned, don't do something obviously stupid.

So here is a site about politics that uses domainsbyproxy.com to hide who they are. Why?

My very first time visiting there I saw a post comparing 2020 US to 1933 Germany and I wanted to respond. So I registered, and posted a carefully argued and polite argument, with links to sources, that, in my view, we are more like 1916 Russia. When I tried to post, I got a message saying I was banned for spam and to contact admins if there were a mistake. So I contacted admin, and again was blocked for "spamming".

The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of one is because for lite subjects you might get some worthwhile feedback. Controversial issues are another story. There is a general set of unspoken rules for debate dictated by common sense. Any time you want to refute something you should always (or as much as possible) include source links to any information that would be in support of your claim. This goes back and forth until one side can no longer refute at which time the debate is over. Well, at DP you will not get anyone who is willing to participate in a true debate following the rules in this fashion, so I was forced to conclude that 98% of posters there are paid shills. A shill is somebody employed by the NSA or like organization to just do nothing but deflect political issues in conformance with the agenda. In simpler terms, to try to keep the lid on conspiracies and cover-ups. The way I determined this was by firsthand experience. "Debating" with them is pointless because when you prove them wrong in correct debate fashion they will never refute with source links and when they lose because of this, they will NEVER concede. This is the dead giveaway that they are shills because a genuine poster who is there for an honest debate who can no longer refute with information to back their claim will say "I stand corrected". When this happens, I usually look at the date they joined and how many posts they have to date, and what I find is that the posts are so many that after doing the math it becomes obvious that the only way they can have that many posts is through 8 hour a day shifts. And with that, you know it's their job! The saddest thing about it is that DP is complicit with these shills. They should ban posters who are just there to undermine the purpose of the forum, and since they don't, you have to wonder what their affiliations are. DP is a true waste of energy.

Truly a dangerous website, if you choose to go there be prepared to have your psyche deeply disturbed. Most of the members are right-wing extremeists though they often identify themselves as "Libertarian", "Independent" or "Conservative". I know a large number of Conservatives, not a single one of them would ever stoop as low as the forum members at debate politics when having a conversation about the current politcal environment.

Name calling, double speak and convenient memory loss are the first tactics then if that doesn't shut you up they'll gang up on you like Maynard, Zed and the Gimp from Pulp Fiction. And they're as creepy and disgusting.

Of course the left leaning people have their problems too (trolls, but who knows, maybe they're right wing extremists too) though most of them are honest and will try to back up their statements with evidence, history and facts. At least that's what I did.

Of course everything anyone says who doesn't identify as Republican or Conservative (or one of the other so called parties I mentioned above but with a "right" lean) is a "liar" a "Socialist" or they're favorite... a "Lib$#*!" "spewing "fake news" and suffering from "TDS" (Trump Derangement Syndrome).

I joined the forum in 2005, stopped visiting for almost 12 years then decided to check it out again only to find that it had gone from bad to horrific. So if you are a rational human being avoid this site at all costs. If you are a rightwing extremist looking for an orgy of sadism and the regular internet porn isn't doing it for you anymore be my guest.

Up front, I must give you a warning about this particular site. You're going to find people who share many different political opinions and you're also going to see some people who're just out there to troll you for the fun of it.
Being a former democrat and having issues with the way that the current political party is moving. I found myself being attacked, insulted and even attacked racially from time to time. A fact that some of the admins are aware of and just don't care, or they who heartedly endorse it. Though there are times when you can be a Trump supporter and receive decent support, the amount of times you'll be the target of continuous attacks that are blatantly allowed, will outstrip the anti-Trump members ratings. However the anti-Trump members are more numerous and will sometimes take it way too far. Which is why you see instances of them getting either flooded with warnings, or banned.

Some of the moderators such as RedAkston, Serenity and sever others are fully aware of the issues plaguing the site. But they will most likely direct you to a section of the site that is meant for insulting those who have legitimate issues with how it's being run.

The site is decent enough if you want to have a common conversation about politics. But you must stay away from areas like the basement and resist the urge to post to any blatant anti-party threads. Else you'll be attacked and derided by posters with the full leave of almost all the admins.

So you've been warned.

This is the most one-sided forum around if you're anti-Trump. The mods will sanction you quickly, ban you for days and ignore your reports of Trump supporters insulting and berating you. All the mods except for 'Helix' are pro-Trump and don't like it when you trash him, They treat anyone against Trump with total disrespect and will concoct a reason to ban you. Freedom of speech does not exist on Debate Politics Forum. You have no way to dispute or reach management on this site. It's totally one-sided. Stay away, it's toxic. 'Note Bene' and 'RedAskin' are two mods who will watch your every move.

This site is a joke. The moderators are 100% pro-Trump. I'm sure they have a good number of Russian trolls as well. If a moderator, say...'nota bene' for example doesn't like your comment, no matter how strictly you've adhered to their rule, she/he will find something inside your post that she'll give you an infraction for. I've argued my multiple infractions with her asking it to be bumped up to more senior moderators. It's impossible for find out exactly who runs this site, but usually she'll give me some name and I'll wait for their decision for days and it always sides with 'nota bene'. The Trump loyalists can run rampant projecting lies without substantiation and that's okay with the mods, but let a liberal or any democrat disagree and take them to task asking for links or facts and it just falls through the cracks.

If you like feeling overwhelmed by Trump's base and overruled by unfair, alt-right conservative mods, this is the place for you. If you want an honest debate without insults, find someplace else. 'Political Forum.com' has less heavy-handed moderation and more freedom to challenge the lies of Trumpers.

I have been a member of debatepolitics.com for 4 years. I have written ******* posts (many, many OP's) and have a total of 7,771 likes. I am classified as an independent but the reality is that I am not all that political. I don't follow political dogmas, I follow common sense, justice, data, facts and truths, whichever side offers them. I do follow rules and when, for some erroneous thinking on "my part", I have done something against the rules, I have accepted the punishment for the action. Having said that, there have been quite a few instances where I was punished on that board unfairly and mainly because of my statements about the extreme right views that I am critical of. The management has mainly (if not all) people that are members of the right that monitor all posts and they have used that bias to punish me incorrectly. The most recent 3-day suspension was because I was accusing a Conservative of not using facts and data to make value his points. I stated that I thought he was a Pedophile and a Cannibal and asked him if my words had any power without proof being given. I submitted a "meme" cartoon of a Cannibal (funny and not visually impacting) and was suspended for violating the rules on submitting "graphic content" improperly. In the wording of the suspension the words "absurd, egregious, and hard-nosed" were used by the monitoring person. Such words are opinions and have nothing to do with the rules. I believe this site is not what it says it is, which is a non-biased site where free speech can be exercised without being criticized for being on the opposite side of what the management wants..

I have been on Debate Politics for nearly 10 years. I have posted about 10,000 times. I am also an outspoken critic of Donald Trump. I have not had any of the experiences that others have talked about. I have debated moderators without an issue. In my tenure, I have never received an infraction point (though I know that is rare), though I have been warned a few times. The warnings, however, were polite and appropriate (I deserved to be warned).

I have not been on that many debate sites, but I find this one to be pretty good. I usually can find good posters to debate with, though since Trump's election the character has changed a bit... the best conservative posters have become never Trumpers., while the Trumpers are zealots and not always interested in reason. It is often difficult to have a serious conversation with them. The pre-Trump era debates were much richer.

I actually think it is a well moderated site. Most of the people that have been run from the site, should have been run from the site. There are probably two or three that need to go, but I bet they are gone by year's end replaced by three more classless idiots... but, that is debate on the Internet.

The Basement is its own sub-culture and bit clicky, as represented. But, if you come to the site, bring your best debating game, are reasonably well informed and can disagree without being disagreeable, you would be a welcomed addition.

Don't even bother wasting any time on this site, unless you are a Trump Supporter! The so-called Conservative Monitors will infraction-you-to-death! There are forum rules- but because of the obvious double standard, I'm totally convinced they only apply to liberal posters and others who do not support Donald Trump's policies and actions. It is the most unfair Political Debate Forum on the internet with some of the most unintelligent members on the planet!

Several of the Mods have turned debatepolitics into a creepy, overly- and unevenly and unfairly moderated forum. They include Kal'Stang, Nota Bene, and Captain Courtesy, who act politely but certainly punish philosophies they don't like. They permit privileges in baiting, flaming, and trolling to pet posters while smashing the same actions of others they simply don't like. They deliberately misdefine "ad hom" and use it to give infractions and bannings.

Still, once the wise and sly poster realizes the game is rigged, that poster can use the system against the Mods and do pretty much whatever he or she wants. I have been under this name, and they are searching for the others.

Debatepolitics seems pleasant enough at first. Most of the people are nice, and the community is undeniably quite a bit more mature and intellectual, on average, than most. Beneath the surface, however, the board is actually something of an Orwellian nightmare in terms of moderation, administration, and the culture behind it.

Have you ever had the misfortune to work in a truly toxic environment? One where management always makes sure to be on their soft-spoken "Ps and Qs," but are backbiting and manipulative authoritarian low-lives underneath it all, making decisions based off of petty personal biases, rather than any sort of real professional interest? Yeah... That's DP's moderation team in a nut shell. They'll swear up and down that they're all just as professional and impartial as can be, and that they are absolutely bound by the board's rules in laying down judgement (and God help the poor fool who suggests otherwise on the open board).

In reality, however, they clearly show favoritism towards some posters, and negative bias towards others. What gets one person a slap on the wrist, or is allowed to pass entirely, will get another punished to the fullest extent possible. And if, for that matter, the mods decide that a certain poster needs to go, they will not hesitate to bend, twist, and distort the rules in basically any way necessary to make it happen as quickly as possible. They will usually do it all with a smile... At least where other posters can see the interactions in question.

That's before we even get to the "good ole' boy" circle jerk that is "the Basement." In theory, this "special" area of the board is a place, mostly free of moderation, meant for blowing off steam, and the settling of grudges. The reality of the place, however, is a veritable no man's land of clichish and caustic board vets, psychopathic trolls, and bullies. These supremely unplesasant people operate with near total impunity, and viciously rip into any new-comer unfortunate enough to cross their paths.

Which... Finally... Brings us to the board's last and most serious problem. It's - really rather bizarre - "troll culture." One fact serves to illustrate this point above all others: that among the number of those "Basement-dwellers" mentioned above one can even find a Senior Moderator - having served in his position for several years. This individual claims to be a psychologist in real life. However, he not only openly boasts about using his skills in that profession to manipulate the rest of the moderating team, but he also claims to use his advantaged position on the board to drive posters he dislikes into nervous break-downs for his own amusement.

Most shocking of all, however, is that - while this mod's antics draw numerous complaints from board members - no one with any power or influence seems to care in the slightest. Some even congratulate the probable psychopath on his "smack skills," and will gladly toast along with him to his many victims.

Likely due to the Basement's influence, this seems to be a sentiment shared by many - if not even most - of the board's longtime members towards trolls and trollish behavior of all measure; both in the Basement, and on the greater board. They feel that it's perfectly acceptable to be an actively malicious troll; deliberately lying, baiting, or otherwise trying to cause harm to other posters. It's just not alright for the intended victim to draw attention to it, or try to fight back. They feel that deserves to be punished. Hell! The moderators even count accusations of "trolling" as being an infractable offense, regardless of if the poster accused openly admits to being a "troll" in other contexts, or is well known by that reputation across the entire board!

Yes, I'm almost certain that this plays into the favoritism and biased moderation I mentioned above. Some people seem to be able to insult, bait, and abuse other posters with near impunity even when operating outside of areas in which the board supposedly deems this as being appropriate behavior. It is likely more than just coincidence that these favored posters also happen to be board vets, and usually the Basement's most well known agitators as well, more often than not.

In any case, DP can be a lot fun. Most of the rank and file membership is nice, and the atmosphere is generally fairly relaxed in most areas. It might behoove one, however, to keep their head down, and avoid some of the more corrosive subforums likely to draw attention to one's self from the board's more malicious and corrupt "elite" members. Simply speaking, no good ever seems to come from it.
