Funds may be at risk due to unsupported tokens; manual recovery options are not available.
November 20, 2025

(UPDATE & FULL REVIEW)

Recently, I utilized BuySellVouchers and encountered an issue during the payment process. I mistakenly sent USDT on the Polygon network instead of USDC (Polygon), although the wallet address was correct and the funds were successfully received.

I acknowledge responsibility for sending the incorrect token. However, I wish to express some concerns about how the platform manages such situations.

The receiving wallet provided by BuySellVouchers is a standard EOA wallet (not a smart contract). This means that the private key holder—either the platform or their custodian—has full technical access to all assets sent to that address, regardless of whether they are supported or not. The USDT I transferred is visible on the blockchain and remains within their deposit wallet.

Despite this, the support team has respectfully declined to perform a manual recovery or escalate the case to their technical or compliance departments. They also chose not to disclose which custodial wallet provider controls the address. Ultimately, they closed my ticket with a message advising me to "be careful next time."

I am not requesting automated crediting. My request was for a manual recovery, which is technically feasible for an EOA wallet if the platform opts to do so.

This situation raises important questions about transparency:

How are unsupported tokens that users mistakenly send handled?
Are these funds retained in company-controlled wallets indefinitely?
Are they recorded in internal accounting systems?
Who benefits from these assets if recovery is refused?

These are significant considerations for any custodial service.

I sincerely hope that BuySellVouchers' management or compliance team will review this matter. Even if recovery is not possible at this stage, I believe that improvements in handling unsupported tokens and transparency would be beneficial for all users.

Tip for consumers:

I wish I had known that if a user inadvertently sends an “unsupported token,” even if it successfully reaches BuySellVouchers’ custodial wallet, the company does not offer manual recovery options.

Products used:

I utilized their digital voucher system along with the crypto payment option.
