I have noticed that people say that they have been scammed by people in Nigeria, but what about Baghdad, Iraq?

This whole daying site is totally... like out of tune... out of sinc... out dated... like when you reject a chat... same person is in youre face evety day... not just one person. But all rejected are still there... They even pop up as youre perfect match

There are scammers every where just have to be careful and go with your intuition.

I have not heard anything about Bagdad. However, I would be especially careful about sending any money or personal information. There are so many people looking for sponsors to the US from other countries I would shy away from any involvement.

Amy,
Scams are not limited to just one location. The person has to be honest about only one thing, and that is were they are at. This is because the whole scam is based on the victim sending money via Western Union or a form of Money Gram to them. Usually to purchess an airline ticket to fly to you because they "Love you." So they have to tell you where they are so if they do trick the victim they can actually get the money. If you have time and want to mess with the scammer, instead of sending money, ask them for their name address, and so on. Tell them you are going to buy a "Non-refundable" ticket for them and it willvarrive at their address or they can pick it up at the airport. The try to figure out what sort of BS they will offer as an excuse to why sending money is better than a ticket in their mind. It can get funny or redeculous. Or if you catch on quick enough, tell them you money will go farther in their country, and hurry and ask them to send you money for a ticket to fly to be with them. When they don't, tell them how hurt you are and how they said they loved you. Something for you and anyone reading to think about.

I've never seen anything from Nigeria or Bagdad, but I did get a LOT of women from the former Soviet block looking for a "free ride" to the states as a Russian Bride. Be very aware of who you are messaging... ask about local landmarks, restaurants, festivals, etc... if they have no clue, they are NOT from the area they claim to be. Even people new to an area will know landmarks and good restaurants! From the ladies side (looking for men), there are likely to be a LOT of scammers claiming to be from deployment zones. You should probably avoid those. Soldiers stationed overseas on active duty aren't skimming dating sites... they're defending their country and doing their duty!

My experience is I only talked to local people who I could ask them questions about the area and we share experiences. I would only meet in a public place. One person I communicated with through email and his real identity was somewhere else, he was hiding for political reasons. Keep digging and don't do any codes or of course send any money, stay local, unless you find otherwise and it works. My case the person is on the other side of the world! Surprising but we communicated by email and will soon telephone each other. Hey you never know but stay safe.

Many Nigerian Scammers claim to be either soldiers or civilian contractors either stationed or working in Baghdad.

I'm not aware of any such scam... Not through a dating site.
